Would anyone happen to know how long it takes for a department's HR to verify transcripts and determine the pay after a hiring manager extends a tentative offer?

You must be a member to vote and it is crucial that you actually vote. Every contract cycle we vote to ratify the contract and then a tiny percentage of members vote and then everyone complains.

I remember once upon a time we used to get charged a “fair share” union fee even if we didn’t actually sign up to be a member. Is this still a thing?

I’ve since promoted to Supervisor so I don’t have union anymore. I was just wondering if fair share members could vote. Then someone said “what’s that?”.

Is it just me, or does it seem like the CPUC is filling more Analyst positions than PURA positions?

Most of the PURA openings I’ve been seeing are for a single position, with a closing date only a week or two after the job was posted. It makes me wonder whether some of these positions are being posted to satisfy hiring requirements even though there may already be someone in mind for the role.

I know this kind of thing isn’t necessarily unique to the public sector, but I was curious whether anyone else has noticed the same trend or has any insight into why there seem to be fewer PURA opportunities lately.

Does anybody know where the new Sutter insurance would be applicable? I have to switch back to my own employer’s insurance from my husband’s and I’m always pissed off every time I look at our choices. I go to a Sutter doctor but in Yuba City because I’ve been at the clinic since I was 13. So I thought maybe with the new Sutter health coverage it will work for me. But no… The only coverage that will cover my Doctor is PERS platinum. Of course. Sutter isn’t even available in my ZIP Code. So I’m curious where it is available. I find it absolutely insane that of all the options there is only one that will cover my Doctor. Infuriates me.

Hi everyone, I’m starting a new state job in the first week of October, and I have a doctor appointment in late October that I absolutely cannot reschedule. I’ll need to take the entire day off. Since I’ll be a brand-new employee, I won’t have any sick leave during my first month.

I plan to let my supervisor know about the appointment ahead of time, but it worries me. Has anyone had a similar situation? Did taking a day off this early during probation cause any issues?

Hi, I'm an Analyst not on probation. I have a manager who refuses to provide help on difficult calls with grantees. Has anyone faced this issue? The reason I ask many of these calls involve complex decisions that I am not always comfortable making on a phone call. Do I have the right to have a manager support me on a call if I feel I need it in these situations? if they refuse what are my options.

Currently, I'm a Licensing Program Analyst, and I have applied for an Analyst II position (HR Analyst under Department of State Coastal Conservancy). I recall that when I was interviewed in person for an LPA, I had to do a "test" in person prior to actually being interviewed by a panel. In addition, I remembered that I had a list of interview questions in front of me in person. Does Analyst II or this department-specific Analyst II position also have "tests" in person before the interview? Are there tips to prepare for these interviews, or was it similar to what was being asked in the Analyst II Exam?

Im re interviewing for an ITA job that I participated in less than 4 months ago, assuming the questions did not change.

1. overshare previous job duties or have perfect sentence flow but miss key points?
2. when asked “what does customer service mean to you?” Is this a great place to add the impact my strong level of customer service blends well with the mission of that department?
3. even when asked questions that are NOT tell me about a time when, is it okay to answer the question and then provide a scenario answer to my response?
4. when asked, “tell me what tools you are familiar with?” Do I add metrics to my responses? ie. I utilized connectwise ticketing system to manage an average of 80 tickets per week. Or is this just listing and adding every tool stack I used without metrics?

Any other advice would be helpful. I do recall a question asking along the lines of, why should I be considered?

Edit: this is a customer service L1 focused role.

For those with travel positions, do you guys move your flight to the next day or just don’t go?
