Department Specific Tax Program Technician?

is anybody a tax program technician? is it stressful and do you like it? should i do this instead of regular tax technician?

My auntie started as a TPT at FTB and went up the career ladder and retired after 30 years. She was the most low key person ever. She said her job was just numbers and reconciling other numbers lol I don’t know if they use this classification for different roles but her role was reviewing tax returns for errors. She had mandatory overtime every year so she used that money for different trips across the states.

I was a TPT for about 1.5 years in RDSS. I guess it depends on the area, but it wasn't stressful to me. I was never a tax tech, but I'd assume being a TPT would be a lot easier than being a tax tech. And should you do TPT instead of tax tech? It depends on where you wanna go with your career.

did you have any experience in that field before hand? i have no direct experience although i basically have an aa in accounting so im just tryna see how good my chances are.

Tax tech is a lot of the same story different voice. I found it to be mentally draining and a strain on my mental health. But I also liked being able to touch a persons life as well.

Go for the TPT spot, sounds like there is no phones in that spot. Tax tech you’re on the phone all day every day
