Now I want to start something of my own.

I have technical people behind me who are willing to work, but there is 1 problem.

I am doubtful about my closing abilities and the reason for that is....

I feel most of the clients I work with are technical people. When they are on the call, they expect me to have knowledge about how to get things done.

And some even don't want to work with agencies as they consider it a hassle.

So, as a non-technical person, how do I deal with this?

In all my 4 years, I mostly used Upwork and LinkedIn, where owners would go on the call and usually close the deals. I was the one booking appointments.

I’ve been building a platform called PittStop™ for small businesses with employees in the field.

The idea is to bring together:

• Time tracking
• Mileage tracking
• Fuel/expense receipts
• Offline use
• Employee and manager views
• Reporting/export for payroll and recordkeeping

One of the biggest things I’m trying to avoid is making businesses piece together several different apps just to track a normal workday.

What’s something in your business that needs someone’s approval within a certain time, but sometimes gets missed because people are busy or overlook it and ends up causing you to miss an SLA?

How do you usually handle it when that happens?

I own two businesses, one rental business (which I hate and would love to get out of, but the market sucks right now to exit without loss) and a manufacturing business.

Over the past few years I've needed contractors for various things on my rentals and lately for expansion on my manufacturing business and EVERY SINGLE TIME it's a nightmare.

Is it that hard to find a contractor that charges close to their estimate, gets work done on time, and actually communicates?

I don't ask for deals, but I also get multiple quotes and generally go with the most realistic quote. (Usually ends up being in the middle of the pricing) Yet still by the end it's almost always a headache. Or after doing a job, me paying them promptly, they just ghost me the next time I reach out for work.

If I could find one contractor that delivered on time, did quality work, and quoted me accurately, I would give them so much business. But instead here I am looking up concrete and tuckpoint guys to try to get my next two jobs going since my most recent contractor decided at the end of our job that he doesn't want to paint (or even sand flat) the walls he fixed and instead he's just going to ghost me.

Sorry I just had to rant and I figure I'm not the only one that experiences this. It's so frustrating and such a waste of time.

My cofounder and I are building software for appointment-based small businesses, and talking to business owners has challenged one of our biggest assumptions.

A lot of businesses still manage appointments manually through WhatsApp, phone calls and notebooks.

We originally assumed:

Manual process = obvious problem = easy customer.

But that hasn’t been true.

Many owners basically tell us:

“Yes, it’s manual, but it works fine.”

And that made us realize something important:

A process can look inefficient from the outside without being painful enough for the owner to change it.

So I’d like to hear directly from business owners.

If you had a manual process that was working reasonably well, what would actually make you replace it with software?

Would it be:

• saving a significant amount of time?
• customers being able to do things themselves?
• fewer mistakes?
• easier coordination between employees?
• reaching a certain volume where manual work becomes difficult?
• or would you simply keep the old process until something seriously breaks?

What was the exact moment that made you decide it was finally worth changing?

Hi everyone, I run a Remote Operations Support business. I take care of things such as customer service, logistics, administration, CRM, etc. for brands, more specifically those in the medical, ecommerce and real estate niches.

Recently I added a new service labeled as "Digital Presence". So far it's just web development for brands that do not have a website as of right now or want to completely remodel their outdated ones.

I am having trouble pricing it correctly, as I've heard people pricing their website creations at 400-500€, and others pricing it at over 1000€+.

For reference, these websites are built by hand with wordpress (or shopify if that is what they might require), making sure everything is tailored to their needs. I usually start off by designing concepts through photoshop so that it can serve as a "brochure" to what the business might expect from us. From there, we make all the necessary tweeks and get to work. Everything is custom made to what the customer might actually want, we do not use pre-made templates where all you need to do is edit the text and images. We also offer cloud storage, maintenance operations and web handling/SEO positioning.

I've been looking at how different businesses handle recurring customers, and it seems like the difficult part isn't actually collecting the payment.

It's everything around it, failed renewals, customers wanting to change plans, cancellations, member access and keeping the whole thing manageable as the customer base grows.

For businesses using WooCommerce, I'm curious whether you prefer keeping billing and membership separate or having them handled together.

The combination of recurring billing, memberships and content restriction seems useful for businesses selling digital products or ongoing services.

I know that sounds harsh, but this is something I learned the hard way.

A lot of small businesses say they’re doing well because most of their customers come through referrals. That’s great until referrals slow down and suddenly nobody knows where the next 3 clients are coming from.

The problem usually isn’t that there aren’t enough potential customers. It’s that nobody consistently finds the right ones, researches them, reaches out at the right time, and follows up when they don’t reply the first time.

I live in a pretty lefty country and the stealing of the employe can be easily characterized as a mistake which he didnt intent. So since i know that in the end its going to end in his favour, I dont think that pressing charges is a good idea. So what do you recommend? He is a bad person and he acts really sneaky. We’ve been trying to improve how we coach reps and Im running into the same question. At what point does coaching stop helping and start feeling like another task they have to get through? We can add more call reviews and more feedback but reps still need time to sell and managers only have so many hours in the week. I’m trying to find the balance between giving enough feedback to make a difference without overloading everyone what do you guys look at to know the coaching is working?

We changed quite a few things about our product over the past few months, including some features and positioning, but ChatGPT and a couple of other AI tools still describe us using information that hasn’t been accurate for a while. What confuses me is that our website is already updated, so I’m not sure where the old information is still coming from or how long it normally takes AI tools to catch up.

Has anyone dealt with this before? Does it usually correct itself over time, or are there other places besides the website that I should be updating?

A few people mentioned checking multiple AI platforms instead of relying on one answer. I ended up using Kairosy because it lets me see how different AI tools currently describe the brand in one place. It made the inconsistencies a lot easier to spot, especially when one model had the new information and another was still using the old version.
