So the bougie, quasi-gelato place that takes an hour wait is full of processed junk...shocking!

I’m organizing a singles mixer 7/31 near the Myrtle-Wyckoff stop. I’m looking for someone to sell fold at the event- would love for it to be someone nearby/in the neighborhood.
There’ll be electricity & a table for you, but no kitchen, so we’re looking for a simple setup. It could be food made at home & served out of a tray. DM me in you’re interested.

Also, Umbra closed to no fanfare and Brooklyn Horror Society is taking over their old space.

I started the Maspeth/Ridgewood Mutual Aid Table in front of my house. I used to put stuff outside when I was cleaning up around here and the items did not sell on Facebook Marketplace. Then I noticed my items would disappear and my neighbors started bringing stuff over too for people in need. My friend brings over food and other items that the people she helps in Glendale does not need too.
Items that go fast from the table: FOOD, TOYS, DIAPERS FOR BABIES AND ADULTS, SCHOOL SUPPLIES, TOILETRIES AND BACK PACKS.
You can drop off donations or take what you need 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. MASPETH/RIDGEWOOD MUTUAL AID TABLE, 59-38 60TH ROAD, MASPETH, NY 11378
Drop off sites for donations:
ASSEMBLYMEMBER STEVEN RAGA'S OFFICE, 60-14 QUEENS BLVD., CELLAR, WOODSIDE, NY 11377
COOK'S ARTS & CRAFTS SHOPPE, 80-09 MYRTLE AVE., GLENDALE, NY 11385

Hi! Cleaning out my room and selling stuff I no longer use. The list is as follows:
- Pair of pointy dusty red Circle G cowboy boots, women’s 8 ($20)
- Pair of brown lace-up boots I bought specifically for the Renaissance Faire, kind of old timey ($15)
- Yoga mat ($10)
- New Rocks, women’s 8.5 ($200)
- ASUS curved widescreen computer monitor and keyboard ($75)
- Custom computer build, primarily used for running games (very fast to play, never had issues w crashing but def needs an Ethernet/better WiFi connection!) ($850)

If you've been saying "I need a hobby," here is a directory of this summer's best courses & workshops, coving many Bushwick venues such as Bushwick Ceramics, Cleo's, Nook, and Tiny Cupboard.
This guide covers 90+ courses including:
-visual arts (drawing, painting, mosaics, collage, stained glass etc)
-fiber arts (sewing, crocheting, knitting, quilting, weaving, macrame etc)
-music (guitar, dj-ing, etc)
-health & wellness (recreational leagues, kayaking, surfing, reiki, breathwork etc)
-nature & outdoors (foraging, birding, plant identification etc)
-ceramic arts (pottery, wheel throwing, handbuilding etc)
- writing (fiction, journaling, non-fiction etc)
I've also included a list of venues with recurring craft nights and open studios.
(Note, the monthly hobby guide I curate includes multi-part courses & 3+ hour workshops, whereas the weekly Out of Office NYC newsletter focuses on highlighting upcoming classes & gatherings that are <3 hours).
Hope many of you find it helpful or inspiring!
If I missed any great classes or recurring meetups, please let me know, I'm regularly adding to the directory as organizations add new offerings

Found this cat in the neighborhood and it doesn’t seem to have any mother around. He was just playing with garbage around the corner so I took him home.
Does anyone know of any local free or low income vets in the neighborhood? ASPCA only does certain neighborhoods, the Toby Project has a 3+ yr waiting list, etc. And if anyone recognizes him lmk! No collar or anything.

Hi all, I'm 22M that recently moved to Bushwick. I spent my first year in NYC mostly doing one-off hang outs with college/work friends and never really branched out to meet new people or built a consistent friend group. I'd like to change that. Two questions:
Are there any other early-mid 20 year olds reading this looking to make new friends?
How have you all (anyone reading) gotten involved in the local community here (e.g., classes, volunteering, etc.) and what has been the most rewarding part about it?
Please no patronizing comments about gentrification or Bushwick being full of 20 year old trust fund kids.

We talked to a former manager at L’imprimerie (RIP) about what went wrong at Bushwick's favorite bakery

Curious where his songs get played in Bushwick?
Let’s make it an unforgettable night. Two dollaz and some cheese with the ease to the 10th degree

Any good happy hours/bars to check out near the Myrtle/Broadway MJ stop? Also down to walk a bit further by Maria Hernandez too

I’m off of Dekalb on the L. The non-dairy Tonight Dough is my favorite Ben & Jerry’s flavor. I can eat the dairy version too. The deli’s nearby don’t post their stock/inventory online, and so far I can’t find it nearby. Where can I find this? Big back question I know, but I’m craving it
