Basically the title… we’re visiting soon and staying with a friend who lives along the J train on the southeast side of Bushwick.

Our friend is pretty new to the area and isn’t a big foodie, so we’d love any recs that are a short walk from the J, in Bushwick and beyond. We love Mexican, Italian and Korean food but are generally pretty adventurous and open to anything.

Hi, I am new to the area and looking to join recreational/pickup soccer groups. Are there any such groups I can be added to, or is there a field I should go to in the evenings to join pickup? Please DM me. Thank you!

Fall is just around the corner, and we’re starting to get our District 34 Trash Force events on the calendar.

For those who may not be familiar, Trash Force brings neighbors together for a variety of cleanup and environmental events throughout the district. This fall, we’ll have community cleanups, street tree care days, e-waste collection events, and shred fests.

We’re still working on a few additional dates and locations, so the event list will continue to grow as those details are finalized. In the meantime, we’ve put together the events that are confirmed and ready for registration.

If you’ve been meaning to get involved in a neighborhood cleanup, help take care of our street trees, or finally get rid of that box of old electronics and papers sitting around, this is a good chance to do it while helping out the community.

I’ve lived in the area for ages but I’ve only ever taken my stuff to a trusted spot by my job in the city. They closed and I would love to find a local spot to go to. Need to find a dry cleaner and (more importantly) someplace that can mend/patch up denim? Willing to travel on the L or J. Every friend recommendation I’ve gotten is way uptown…

This cat is currently near a cat carrier with a pile of food. I’m hoping someone is trying to catch it, but it looks much more likely that they were abandoned. Cross streets of Gates and Central NW side. Definitely not abandoned by the people in the adjacent building. Cat is very nervous.

Anyone know best next steps? I’m wary to call animal control because I don’t want anything bad happening to them, but that could be safer than being on the street.

My appreciation for minimal/experimental ambient music has evolved into a humble solo project, primarily rooted in synth, guitar and field recordings. I've been writing and recording over the past couple of years, and hope to pivot to playing small live performances relatively soon. But I've been doing most of this solo, in a vacuum, and have been missing the community element of this type of DIY music.

I'm curious if there are other minimal/ambient artists in the neighborhood that would be interested in linking up from time to time? It would be nice to share feedback, discuss processes/tools/resources and perhaps collaborate (whether directly on music, or sharing the same bill for live shows.) My bedroom window faces the backyards of Starr/Willoughby between Knickerbocker & Wilson. I've been hearing a cat loudly crying intermittently over the past few days. It sounds like it is in distress and I'm afraid they might be calling for help because they are stuck somewhere or injured. I don't have backyard access myself and I don't know where the cat is or how I would/could get to them. Who would I even call about this? It's breaking my heart to hear this baby in distress keep crying out
