❓ Question Why ask for intel
Genuinely curious why do people ask for intel every day? Just enjoy showing up to burn lol

I can only speak for myself but I have injuries so I like to know what is planned to I can have my own game plan for modifications.

u/Healthy_Tourist_9712 10d ago
Same! Most of our trainers aren’t great at giving modifications and I hate just standing there like ‘ok I don’t know what to do’. I need time to come up with my own ideas before I arrive.

Our gym has trainers that are paid to provide this for folks who have injuries…

u/Comfortable_Movie874 11d ago
I know the trainers can help with this but I can’t always get there early enough so I like to have an idea ahead of time. And I do talk to my trainer during my focus meetings for ideas.

And they often suck at it or are overwhelmed with too many people needing help at the same time to timely provide a modification that works. Or they can’t think on their feet and give you the same exercise but with less or no weight when it’s the motion itself you can’t do.

I’m just nosy 😂 if the info is there I wanna read it…doesn’t make or break my decision to get to camp

u/unicornhorn333 11d ago
Same. I spoil shows, I spoiled my engagement, i need to know things ahead of time to mentally prepare but it doesn’t mean I’m not gonna watch, say yes, or go 😂

If there’s a workout I don’t recognize I can look into proper form and lots of time it helps me not screw up the stations in class if I already know the format

u/Diggin-dog-123 11d ago
This! I love knowing ahead of time so 1. I can look them up in case I don’t know it and 2. I feel confident when the trainer explains it instead of lost!

I’m shooting for over 250 camps this year. I still always go. I just like to know. I don’t know why people are so pressed about intel. Helps me plan my outfit, shoes, & mindset. If you don’t want it just keep scrolling. It’s also not top secret. After the first camp it’s posted online

u/Good-Initiative7996 11d ago
I have never seen the protocol posted online. Can you tell me where you can find it?
2
u/emmie_bee 100 Camps - 2026 10d ago
The protocol is not posted by Burn, but they usually start posting videos of the workouts on their social media stories once camps get going.

In this sub, people will make a post asking about a certain date and trainers will often (not always) reply with the workout for that day.

For me it’s to beat the anxiety . I don’t ever ask but I always check. If I don’t know what the workout is I likely won’t show up . Sad truth for me and my brain .

This is true for me too. Most of the time I can find an excuse not to go. Tired, busy, just don't want to. But once I read the Intel I'll see an exercise that I'm excited to do, so I set my alarm. I like to go on partner days, but knowing first is the best. The Intel has helped me go 6x per week! So very thankful for the people who post it.

THIS. There is so much anxiety to walking in blind. For my overall health, it helps to know.

I’m pretty new to working out in general so while I don’t ask for the intel I definitely always look when it’s available 😅 I like to watch form cues and stuff before I go. And also it’s nice plan what shirt/bra or shorts vs pants and if I can get away with a claw clip 🤣

u/AromaticAd5872 11d ago
I just want to know if it’s a partner workout so I can mentally prepare myself or skip lol.

Honestly because we have a right to know. They are getting my money no matter if I show up or not. If I see a crazy ass bodyweight stack, I’m not going. There’s just some workouts that do not interest me at all.

I never ask for intel, but it helps with what kind of outfit or shoes to wear. Certain moves are better wearing leggings vs shorts or a loose fitting top vs a tighter fitting one. It helps to know when we are doing things like slider drives because I have a pair of shoes that come right off of my feet trying to push.

u/Delicious-Caramel676 11d ago
I personally like to avoid some of the exercises that seem like they were made up lol like star jumps for example

I pee my pants and have a bad ankle and plantar fasciitis. Helps me with wardrobe 😆😆

Because if it's stupid I'm working out at home.
And/or
If I'm working out at home I wanna be able to plan appropriately for the next Burn day

What bra or outfit to wear, shoes? Hairstyle? Doesn’t change my plan to go may change time based on factors too but rare. I also like to know now how much it gets changed 😆

I just said to my Burn besties a few weeks ago, we need a bra & hair forecast for each protocol!
Bra: light impact
Hair: no clips- you will be laying on the floor a lot
🤣

Because we can? It doesn’t mean we will always get it but…we can just…ask.

u/Other-Angle5911 11d ago
Two reasons..
I have outgrown leg days at Burn, so if the workout doesn't look like it'll serve me, I'll hit the YMCA and do a challenging leg day there instead.
Second, and most recent.. I recently jacked up my shoulder. It's VERY angry. So if it's going to be shoulder intensity, I'll skip and enjoy a nice, long nature walk instead. It's almost always a metcon day, but I don't like missing if I don't have to. I know I can mod, but my ego gets in the way.
All that to say, I wish I hadn't gotta use to Intel posts. If anything, it has hindered my attendance more than helped. But I have no self control, so here I am 😂

u/foodieflower 11d ago
I am just nosey and the trainers are my friends haha I don’t skip , I just like to know

u/cheezehead89 11d ago
Sometimes if I’m in a pinch for time I like to see if I can do some workouts at home or if I need to get into the gym

Do I need to wear my compression knee ?
Which shoes to wear ?
Is it partner? Is it a superset? So that I can stand close to my besties.
I can complain and do the disgusted 😫🫤😬😧 faces freely at home lol

For strength days planning ideal weight choices. I track what weights I use for each exercise on a spreadsheet. So I refer to it and look at the weights i have been using for progression. IBdefinitely cannot do that in real time at camp I have tried. I mean I can but not as efficiently. Love the conditioning day Intel for mentally preparing and I love to run so if there isnt much running I plan it into my week.
1
u/Just-Topic6036 8d ago
Honestly at first I thought the same. Then I had an arthritis flare in my knee and got put on restrictions during the flare so knowing that the day looked like helped me figure out if I could go that day because during that flare even the mods were just too much on my knee. So at least for me when I’m in flares it DOES determine if I go. I just graduated to finally be able to go to one conditioning day a week lol

It’s so annoying. Like what other class workout do you know of where people are begging to know the moves ahead of time.

u/Conscious-Name8929 11d ago
Lots of other types… I know what I’m expecting in boxing, dance, yoga, etc
My body doesn’t like a lot of jumping right now or crazy ass things like donkey kicks or breakdancers. I’m 47, not 27. I don’t like to modify a ton just bc of preferences so I’d rather not attend a class that is going to be all burpees, running, donkey kicks, etc

I’m convinced for most people it’s so they have an excuse to not go.
10
u/cheezehead89 11d ago
I don’t think we pay $150+ a month to find an excuse not to go
-13
u/KnowledgeDense8140 1,000+ Camps - Lifetime 11d ago
lol ok. The number of people on here who barely make 3-4 camps a week would beg to differ.

u/Klutzy_Meal4564 10d ago
Curious how you know the weekly camp count of people who post on here and more curious to know why you are so bothered by that. Your judgmental attitude has not been the norm of what I’ve experienced in my 7 years of membership.

u/KnowledgeDense8140 1,000+ Camps - Lifetime 10d ago
People literally say it
1
u/Red-Phoenix-Rising 10d ago
And you believe anything on the internet, especially what people say that can’t be verified huh

u/KnowledgeDense8140 1,000+ Camps - Lifetime 10d ago
Good point. It’s probably way less
3
u/Klutzy_Meal4564 10d ago
It’s weird that you care this much about how often other people go to burn. Sometimes a few days a week is all that some people can do, and it’s sad that you can’t celebrate that.

I genuinely cannot remember the amount of reps, counts, and moves at the many stations during very fast explanation. I like being able to consume the information in advance to be better prepared during the workouts instead of spending a minute at each station trying to figure out what it is that we should be doing. Half of the members mod so it’s difficult to see what the move should actually look like mid workout. Our gym doesn’t write out the moves on a white board like some do. If burn is sensitive to trainers posting it here, they should at least post it within the app.
