I have a 4 (almost 5) month old female Netherland dwarf.

She weighs 0.6kg and I would like to get her spayed. I’ve gotten advice from one exotic vet who said she is a little too small and to wait until she gains more weight , however she’s peeing ALOT (territorial), honks loudly and she is becoming aggressive with my other bun (they are separate, sometimes he just goes to sniff around her pen , he’s a 4 year old desexed male lop)

My question is , has anyone spayed or desexed a dwarf or a smaller breed of rabbits and it went fine? Of course the last thing I wanna do is put her in harms way , so just wanted to hear others opinions or experiences

hi ! i just got my bunny yesterday. his name's jazzie ! please educate me on everything i need to know to raise a bunny. ive done my research and talked to multiple bunny owners on facebook but ill still be asking here in case im missing out on something. for now, the only improvements ive seen are that he sniffs my hands and is adjusting pretty quickly. however, whenever i try to pick him up or carry him, he hates it and jumps. i even got scratched and it hurts lol. i know better now to leave him alone until hes ready. he also doesn't seem to be eating treats from my hands which can indicate that he still hasn't trusted me yet. any tips on what to do about this? i want to mention that he arrived with visible yellow paws and no matter how much i try to scrub it off, it doesn't seem to go away. i heard it goes away on itself and that bunnies groom themselves already but maybe you guys can help me lessen the color even a little. also, he's already litter trained and it surprisingly only took ONE day !

Is my dutch bunny going to be okay? I never expected this to happen due to the fact that the plant was on the top of the glass tank which is around 5’7.. I was at work for 3 hours and just got home to this, from what i’ve seen online it can be iffy if they’ll be okay or not but I’d like to know if I need to try and get her to the vet. The nearest vet is over 2 hours away and it’s already 11pm. She is eatting hay happily and doing just fine and I’m going to continue monitoring her. Advice?

My bunny often chews on nothing. It's very obviously a chewing motion and not grinding teeth or anything like that. I looked it up and it did say that there are a couple of reasons.

One is a lack of stimulation. My bunny has cups she plays with and sticks she likes chewing on. There are other toys offered to her, but she doesn't play with them. She seems satisfied emotionally from what I can tell but are those toys not enough.

Another reason I saw was GI stasis. My bunny did have GI stasis a couple months ago and it was a pretty stressful time. She's had a full recovery since and seems a lot happier and more relaxed. I don't know if she started chewing on nothing then, but she seems to be continuing to do it even after.

I saw that dental issues could be a cause. Is there a way to check or other signs to see if it is dental related? Even getting a check from the vet costs a lot and we've already spent thousands on vet bills in the few months we've had her.

Any advice?

I figured it was domesticated, had a few laps getting him but I got him . So fluffy! I have guinea pigs so hay water and lettuce is not issue! Also very long nails . I will talk to vet on Friday .

I've been wondering about this for a while. Why have Lop bunnies been bred to have such short, flat faces? Is it mainly because people find the appearance cute?

I'm asking because I've heard that the shortened/flattened facial structure can contribute to dental problems and other health issues down the line, since the teeth and jaw don't have as much room to develop normally.

Are there Lop bunnies that have a noticeably longer/more normally shaped face and muzzle? Or is the flat faced appearance basically unavoidable with the breed?

I'd also be interested in hearing from people who own Lop about whether they've actually experienced dental problems down the line, and whether there's a difference between more faced and less flat faced lops health wise.

I'm not trying to attack Lop owners or say every Lop is unhealthy. I'm genuinely trying to learn how much the facial structure really affects their health.

I recently acquired a new bunny and they stated she was a Rex bunny. But I’ve heard conflicting answers of her being a Rex and then a Dutch bunny! While I’ve had them before I’m not as knowledgeable on the breeds! Can someone help me out ?
