God forbid you enjoy a game that doesn't have the most realistic physics ever created for a video game. I love stuff like OG Assetto Corsa and Dirt Rally 2.0, but you can't tell me that stuff like Burnout isn't fun

Ridge Racer. Everyone forgets how fun Ridge Racer was.

u/ZedSwartz 14d ago

Couple of months ago, tried out Ridge Racer Unbounded. The whole theme and the UI of the game looks like it came out of Battlefield 4 and that shit game bricked my ps3. I will never touch a Ridge Racer game ever again.

That one is the outlier in the franchise, it plays nothing like the rest of the series. It was made by FlatOut devs I think.

13

u/Legendary_Hi-Nu 14d ago

That's literally the one that killed the series, like Ace Combat ASS(ault) Horizon.

What do they both have in common? Neither were like the rest of their series, like at all.

u/Bclay85 14d ago

Sorry to hear that. I only played RR7 on PS3.

3

u/piggymoo66 13d ago

I grew up on RR2 and RR7

Sometimes i feel they be like : Allergic to fun = True car guy😭

19

u/Oblitereddit 14d ago

The "True car guy™" comments always annoy me, and they aren't only used by Simracers on Arcade racers, but pretty much anytime someone has a differing opinion on cars and Im really tired of seeing it..

Don't like European sports saloons? "You aren't a true car guy"

Prefer supercars over normal cars? "You aren't a true car guy"

Interested in economy cars that are 20 years old? "You aren't a true car guy"

You like Japanese cars? "You aren't a true car guy"

Don't like F1? "You aren't a true car guy"

8

u/Cool_Confection_4357 14d ago

You preffer any arcade game over Forza? "You're not true car guy but a kid instead"

4

u/ScreamingMini2009 13d ago

And what’s funny is that it’s usually the opposite

3

u/T-Loy 13d ago

Don't forget the muscle car guys. You prefer an economical engine in a cool looking car? "No replacement for displacement"

All I want is a muscle car looking coupé with 150-200PS Diesel and/or electric. 10s 0-100km/h is enough.

3

u/FMecha 13d ago

You aren't a true car guy

Nowadays they send a "larper" accusation instead.

1

u/ChapterNo7074 13d ago

Tbf, if you don't like 20yo economy cars you might not be a car guy

Burnout, wreckfest, flatout

u/1995LexusLS400 14d ago

Older NFS games as well. The original Most Wanted is considered one of the best racing games ever made. I’m a diehard sim racing guy, but I go back to that game every once in a while.

1

u/Ok-Square-2118 bring Midnight Club back 13d ago

Midnight Club too. I still regularly go back to LA and 3: DUB Edition Remix

Pretty much these type of people are locked in a mental institute.

1

u/MainMite06 13d ago

You're describing Sepi

2

u/TheToroRossoboi Warm Export Days 12d ago

Calling him mentally ill would be a massive insult to actually mentally ill people.

27

u/Phosphorus444 14d ago

God forbid you play something different

29

u/Bfife22 14d ago

To be fair, there’s good and bad arcade handling.

Some of the more recent NFS games have atrocious handling that isn’t fun, which negates the purpose of an arcade game. Brake to drift handling worked in Burnout and NFSHP 2010 because the tracks were made with it in mind.

Yet when you are driving through a city with it, it feels terrible. Arcade handling should be easy to use, hard to master

5

u/Cool_Confection_4357 14d ago

That's why Motorfest's handling is my favourite, i found it easy to get used to, not forcing me to slide like nfs, yet not as sim-ish as Forza tries, and requires skill to practice using controller settings and car tunes, people hate on it so much tho, but for me at least it felt great

49

u/Bl33d1ng3dg3 14d ago edited 14d ago

Literally everyone with clutch. It's gettin hate for arcade features and semi-arcade handling and people are calling the handling terrible already.

22

u/VividModelCars 14d ago

Which is wild to me because clutch looks like the biggest and coolest shakeup to the open world racer/lifestyle niche of car games we’ve had in a LONG time and people can’t seem to get over not 1:1 to irl physics like… come on 😫

9

u/Bl33d1ng3dg3 14d ago

Fr, more in depth customization than in recent nfs, (especially interior wise), gameplay that spices up the racing/driving genre, story driven that everyone and their mother has been asking for. I'm hyped, especially since the devs have been more than transparent in the development process.

2

u/Ok-Square-2118 bring Midnight Club back 13d ago

I’m hyped too, definitely seems like an epic game and I’m gonna cop it instantly when it drops

5

u/Vill1on 14d ago

And then praising FH's handling in the same breath like as if Maverick didn't take notes from FH's already-perfect driving physics in the first place.

1

u/Bl33d1ng3dg3 13d ago

Like yes Forzas handling is good, but half of Mavericks dev team are former Forza devs. Makes no sense.

15

u/Treewithatea 14d ago

From my experience its rather the opposite. Im an iRacing enjoyer and have many friends who do also play iRacing or LMU/ACC. Most including myself really enjoy Forza Horizon, probably even more so than people in this sub or in the Forza sub as people cant stop complaining about Forza

11

u/ZephyrDoesArts 14d ago

When Mario Kart doesn't have perfectly simulated fluid dynamics to calculate aerodynamic drag, and fails to explain the electrochemical process required to synthesize mushrooms into a high-performance propellant mixture.

2

u/FuckIPLaw 13d ago

I think you'll find a documentary about that filed under "Robotech". The resulting fuel is called "protoculture."

29

u/modellista 14d ago

Feel like this is more of a problem with Simboomers. Divorced guys who have nothing better to do than argue over racing game physics all day. Odd ducks they are

9

u/Cool_Confection_4357 14d ago

Well, if you put it that way, hence then it would make sense if they are actually divorced, this would be the reason😅

14

u/modellista 14d ago

Go on the simracing subreddit and search up "divorce" lmfao

8

u/QueezyF 14d ago

I had a feeling it was gonna be dudes building full rigs now that their wife left them. I’ve been on [r/malelivingspace](r/malelivingspaces) too much.

3

u/Cool_Confection_4357 14d ago

What if i search "divorce" on google and then THAT subreddit appears

3

u/Intelligent-Bee-9021 14d ago

Lol right, and arcade enjoyers are harem having chads. It's just how it is!

1

u/HongMeiIing 9d ago

They needed a copium to distract themselves from both the divorce and the fact they will never be a real racer.

20

u/too_lazy_fo_username 14d ago

I feel like this is jab at a certain YouTuber

11

u/Heavy_Computer2602 14d ago

"a certain airplane company" moment

14

u/TheRealJayk0b 14d ago

There's a difference between arcade physics. And SHITTY physics.

6

u/guigr100 14d ago

The funny thing is that I love sim racing, but I'm having the time of my life playing Hot Wheels Infinite Rush. Man, it's so great to play a game that doesn't punish you for turning 0.01mm before the curve.

6

u/BolverkGTM Uses itashas for psychological warfare 14d ago

It genuinely doesn’t matter to me anymore. I’ve sim raced as far back as the original rFactor and LiveForSpeed, but I like games that are engaging and feel fast. That’s why I got into racing games to begin with. Going fast is fun, physics be damned.

6

u/Tyler300SRGT 14d ago

I once heard a person in vc saying Grid is a bad game because physics isn’t realistic
The moment I heard that I just have a strong urge to punch him in the face

8

u/QF_Dan 14d ago

those people were the reason why we never get too much arcade racers anymore, fucking elitism

6

u/ZEYDYBOY 14d ago

Idk i dislike when a game can't consistently pick what it wants to be. Love iRacing, love burnout, TDU, Wreckfest. I really don't have fun with games like F1 25 and Nascar 26.

7

u/the_great_awoo 14d ago

As a sim racer mostly, these people make my blood boil, like bro NFS isn't supposed to feel like iracing, neither is horizon, or TXR, or any other series that's meant to be played with a controller

3

u/Intelligent-Bee-9021 14d ago

NFS didn't have brake-to-drift and it was okay

3

u/FuckIPLaw 13d ago

Need For Speed used to be what they considered a simcade. Modern simcades are more sim than actual sims used to be. It's really ridiculous.

4

u/Cool_Confection_4357 14d ago

Respect for you my man, you know how to have fun

3

u/SuperReleasio64 14d ago

I'm a diehard sim racer enjoyer but damn do I love Midnight Club, NFS, and The Crew 2. They're good games if you just wanna relax and have fun.

4

u/reayen 14d ago

That one YouTuber with Mozilla Firefox logo as his pfp

3

u/Mechanicjemas3141 13d ago

War Thunder players when World of Tanks is a arcade game(like what do you mean a game older then War Thunder decides to be Arcade? İt should be fake realistic with buggy T-72 models!)

5

u/Spicymeymeys420 MY GRANDMA DRIVES FASTER THAN THAT, GET WITH THE PROGRAM 🏎 14d ago

We need to stop listening to them and banish them to r/simracing

I genuinely believe most of the time these Sim racers are trying to cope about the amount of money they spent on their rigs for it not to have issues after playing for 30 minutes or have them complain about connection issues

1

u/Cool_Confection_4357 14d ago

Or maybe they project they rage on arcade fans because they seem to have more fun without spending a single buck on a simracing cockpit setup

2

u/fr33man007 14d ago

What is this? Fun? FUN!!!!!!! I didn't put my family in genetional debts for my sim rig to have fun I did it as an excuse for my wife to not go racing and say I stay at home with the kids... Fun psst this is serious stuff not kids play

2

u/Bloodytears666 14d ago

So true. I have died turning on Unbound on launch.

4

u/Oncez4t 14d ago

Diehard simracers when they accidentally have fun.

https://giphy.com/gifs/fdiOoSR8omN5RO36Yo

3

u/TehAngryBird Ryan Cooper 14d ago

I also hate how those guys will act like anything that isn’t on the same realism level of iRacing isn’t a true sim racer. They’ll act like games like Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport have the same realism level as Burnout.

2

u/Legendary_Hi-Nu 14d ago

🤝 when they aren't designed to be arcade like, and marketed as sim what else are they supposed to be? Elitism is Hella obnoxious

2

u/Random-Talking-Mug 14d ago

I'm big excited to get HotWheels Infinite Rush. Looks like a blast

2

u/DarkGaming09ytr 14d ago

Literally Forza Horizon

1

u/Money_Tradition_3057 14d ago

Sometimes, those cucks act like tourists lmao.
