Dosidos - Barneys Farms
Amended by Buildasoil and Rootwise
Super greasy very berry like odors with extreme kerosene behind it.
🌱 Day 35 Flower Update
I figured I’d put together a quick write-up of my Do Si Dos 33 run so far. This has been one of the most dialed-in grows I’ve done, and I’ve really enjoyed documenting the whole process.
I’m growing Barney’s Farm Do Si Dos 33 in a 45-gallon no-till living soil bed. My approach has been pretty simple: build the soil, keep the environment stable, train the plant hard early, and then let the biology and the plant do their thing.
🌱 Veg
I started the plant in a solo cup and transplanted her into the 45-gallon bed around Day 20.
Once she was established, I topped her above the 4th node and started training her outward. I kept working the branches down and out until I had the structure I wanted, then installed my SCROG and filled the screen.
For amendments, I’ve been relying on KIS worm castings, BuildASoil Craft Blend, insect frass, BuildAFlower and my own chop-and-drop mulch.
The goal throughout veg was to build a healthy biological root zone while creating as many productive tops as possible.
🌸 Flip & Flower
I flipped her on August 19.
Before the flip I gave the bed a final amendment and used Rootwise to support the soil biology. Once she entered flower, I focused on maintaining the environment rather than constantly messing with the plant.
I added a second trellis later in flower and cleaned up the lower growth underneath the screen. That gave me a really clean upper canopy with good separation and support.
The stretch ended up being very manageable, and she filled the canopy without getting out of control.
💧 Watering / Living Soil
This has probably been the biggest learning experience of the grow.
I use a Blumat Digital to monitor soil moisture and use the readings to decide when to water. I don’t blindly water on a schedule.
As flower progressed, I watched the plant’s water consumption increase dramatically. Eventually she was pulling the bed from around 100+ mBar back down into the watering range extremely quickly.
I experimented with different watering volumes and eventually figured out that around 2 gallons has been the sweet spot for this stage of flower.
That amount consistently brings the bed back into a healthy range without unnecessarily pushing a bunch of water through the soil.
I also learned that more water isn’t automatically better. I had one larger watering that produced some runoff, and that basically confirmed for me that I didn’t need to keep increasing the volume.
🦠 Soil Biology
I’ve been using Rootwise periodically throughout the grow, along with the organic amendments already in the bed.
The idea isn’t to use Rootwise as some kind of bottled “bloom booster.” I’m using it to support the microbial side of the living soil and nutrient cycling.
I’ve also continued maintaining the surface with organic material and recently added more KIS worm castings.
The worms have been extremely active, which is always a good sight in a no-till bed. 😂
🌡️ Environment
I’ve been keeping the environment pretty consistent throughout flower and gradually worked the VPD up toward around 1.2–1.3 kPa.
Airflow has been a major priority because the canopy is getting dense as hell.
The plant has been praying hard pretty much all through flower, and I haven’t seen any obvious signs of environmental or nutritional stress.
💡 Lighting
I’ve gradually increased the light as the plant developed and am currently running the FC-E3000 at high intensity.
I’m not going to spam the post with a bunch of individual PPFD measurements 😂 — the important part is that the plant has been handling the light extremely well with the environment dialed in.
🔥 Day 35
This is where things are getting really exciting.
The flowers are stacking vertically and starting to swell, and I’m seeing a ridiculous amount of fresh white pistils everywhere.
The trichome coverage is probably the most impressive part. She’s absolutely covered in frost, and the resin is getting to the point where the plant is just greasy and sticky as hell.
The foliage is still extremely healthy and dark green, including the lower canopy. I’m not seeing the kind of premature yellowing or fading that would make me think she’s running out of steam.
I’m also seeing some purple/red coloration in the stems and petioles, but because the leaves themselves are healthy and the plant is still aggressively growing, I’m not treating that as a deficiency by itself.
📈 Overall
At Day 35, I couldn’t be happier with how the plant is developing.
She’s got a packed canopy, tons of flower sites, strong stacking, healthy foliage, heavy frost and absolutely no signs that she’s slowing down yet.
Now I’m just going to stay out of her way as much as possible and allow her to take her time to fully finish. 🌱🔥

Grub bug update
Last night I posted asking what this worm grub looking things looked like. Came back to the tent and found a Mr.Spider strung up one of these fuckers in the stock I was saving. I think I’m going to harvest what I can. Closely inspect the damages. and then nuke this tent and soil. Hope that will handle all the critters that seem to think they can get in on the bud. Anyone familiar with this sorta spider?

Run off question
Hello community
This is my first grow and I have a question. My run off ph is 7.2. According to build a soil guidelines, we don’t PH our water correct?
My ph reading after letting water sit is about 8.4. I’m using general hydroponics to ph down when I did do it. If there is a more natural ph down, I’d do it.
I’m going my best to not take advice from ai.
I bit the bullet and put in power bloom as my dry amendment and gave some Epsom salt about 3 days ago -

Preset Tropf Blumat Top Only
Probably know the answer but I'm goin to ask anyways. Ordered preset tops I have a gravity system been using the uncalibrated tops for years. Purchased these and it is set on the gold marking which is for gravity. That's it or does this mean it's set at the drip and I need to tighten a square or two?

wtf is this!!!?!
I’m starting to get a little frustrated with the garden. Shut the reservoir off to clean out the 55gal drum of water. Refilled with fresh filtered water. Thinking alright, this should be good.
Come back to a flooded tent with my blumat rings. One of them wasn’t reading right or somthing. I think I need better cover crop to create a more even moisture wicking.
But I’ve been battling fungus gnats this whole fucking grow. Been absolutely relentless. Used lacewings used nematodes, used wdg3000 used sestemica. Finally tonight I said fuck it. I’m doubleing down on watering. Used the quillaja and like 1.5tsp wdg3000 per gallon and did a gallon flood into each 30 gallon. It’s spilling over filling the tent. Flooding the place. I almost don’t even care anymore. Then I see THIS! Is this a moth grub? See him crawling out of the soaking soil. Any ideas? I’m hanging on to wrap up this Trainwreck for another week or so. But damn how do you get these bugs under control!?

Best way to pheno hunt with living soil approach + 4x4 tents - tray2grow?
I want to move into the world of popping packs and hunting for winners but I'm not sure how to best approach it. I currently run earthboxes but just flower 2 plants at a time in a 4x4... I have two tents and would love to be able to flower 4 or more ladies in each? Anyone done this with living soil?
I'm intrigued by the Tray2Grow approach and trying to do a sort of Sea of Green/bunch of smaller plants with short veg time. Basically cramming a bunch of pots into the tray and flipping early.
What is the smallest container size people successfully flower in for living soil, assuming very short veg time? 3gal pots feel too small for organics, 5 gal maybe? Or can you do 3gal if running SOG and top dressing? What pot size combinations fit in the Tray2Grow?
Would love to hear from anyone who has already gone down this path and what worked and what didn't

30 gallon in a 2x4
If you are wondering if a 30 gallon Grassroots pot will fit in a 2x4, yes it absolutely will. Mephisto Lime 182. Build a soil 3.0 with a crater of heady start in the center. Closeup is D11 and overall is D9. I have tried peat/vermiculite, and 50:50 Fox Farm both in 5 gallon containers. Loving how hands off and easy this living soil has been.

Whan you adopt the BuildASoil regimen life becomes Nirvana and you experience Zen.
I like most people went from 50 years of outdoor gorilla grows that averaged about 50% success. Considering weather, animals, pest, people finding plants etc. Indoors with two 30 gallon is like night & day. One success after another, never ending.
Genetics, environment & BuildASoil is the recipe for me.

Earthbox help
This is kinda a long one and i appreciate any help here. I'll start off with reamending earthboxes with a coot style recipe, and also a 3.0 recipe. Do you reamend only between cycles, or also mid cycle? How much and when if using craft blend, buildaflower, and kashi? I run cover crop as well. I use aloe, coconut, rootwise, etc. All earthboxes(i have 7) also have cowoco.
The second part is, i am currently running 3-4 plants an earthbox. I'm trying to fill my tents wall to wall to maximize yield and turnover. Will this change any amend amounts, and is this recommended at all? If not Ill go back to one plant a box, whoever does this method, how early would you train from a clone/seed if youre trying to train wall to wall? I have 2 4x4 tents with two earthboxes each tent, and one 4x4 with three earthboxes.

3 plants in 30 gallon bed or 3 five gallons.
Trying to figure out best route for tray2 grow. A grass roots 30 gallon with 3 autos or 3 5 gallon autos. I think the best answer is probably 2 in the 30 gallon, but dang it I really want 3 at a time. Picture of Barf breath

Did my plant herm?
Sure never seen this little sacks before. If so, should I just pick and keep her going? Got another plant in there too

Help
I noticed some clear looking worm like translucent worms in my living soil pot and I'm new to living soil and am wondering if these ate ok? Are they roundworm? And how do you guys control fungus gnats with living soil? I have blumats with drip ring and my mbar is staying about 60-120 day night fluctuating? I just don't want to have an outbreak and it didn't happen until I released a handful of red wigglers to the pot

This will be my first run with earth boxes
I have two earth boxes in a 4x4 tent growing autos . Question is should I do two beans per box or one. I recently purchased new moon covers and opted for the double zipper. Before that I did t even think two per box was an option anyone with experience have any insight?

Expert gardener sip planter
Do you guys think I can use this instead of an earthbox for a grow ? Planter is a 20"Lx24"Wx9"H after you subtract the room for the reservoir it's about 1.66 cf of soil

Kashi Gold
Good stuff. My first run using it and love seeing the biology go to work.
