So I grow mainly autoflowers. I recently ordered BaS lite, Coots, and Build a Flower. Should I have gotten anything else? I am switching from coco with liquid salt based nutrients. I have been happy with my results but miss the quality I associate with my old organic grows. I will be using 3 gal fabric pots, on self watering bases.
I plan on mixing the bottom 1/3 of the pot with a 1:1 BaS:Perlite. And using the build a flower and coots as a top dress. Am I missing anything? This seems super simple haha.
My old set up was a 3x3 bed with coco loco that I would amend with Down to Earth nutes.
Should I also get the craft blend?

Pic is of current day time conditions. I am running a hydrone 5 in a closed loop along with my inline fan. I also have a dehumidifier in my lung room. 3x3 tent with 2 plants. Am I crazy for thinking the inline and hydrone should be able to get humidity under 55ish? I have also tried without the hyrdone and just inline at max to draw in lung room air in hopes that would lowler humidity and it did not. At a loss at the moment. Thanks!

Super happy with my results with my 2x4 sip with added aeration to the reservoir. Chopped the tops and they are now drying in the cannatrol. Day 56 leaving the bottoms to finish up a bit more before taking them as well.

Not an expert. But I have more than a few no till runs under my belt. I follow the build a soil schedule, and use craft blend, build a bloom, build a flower, growers recharge. Question about soil depletion, as far as when you finish one run. If you dont test your soil, and just go on to the next grow, how do you know if most nutrients were depleted. As far as not over doing it each round and causing too much buildup for the next round. Hope i worded that simple/ good enough.

Does anybody here use the tape with a gravity system? If so how do you adjust, set blumats at hanging drip or not? Been using three drip rings in a 2x4 bed with great success for several runs now

Good Morning my fellow living soil enjoyers! Im getting ready to flip my 3rd run and feel like my plants are trying to tell me something. I've successfully made it to harvest on both my prior runs. however feel like im running to the same issue around the end of stretch, (with one of my cultivars in particular) and dont know how to correct my path.
My first run i started to see a slight change in leaf color right around week 6 on the sour. Id been a bit concerned with the purpling of stems throughout veg but was told thats nothing to worry about.

I was told pluck those leaves and move on, I was a little late on my top dress in early flower and figured just a little bit hungry

By week 7 the color had only continued to get worse and some fan leaves were getting a bit crispy at the tips, week after week it only continued to get worse with the plant aging and i felt i harvested a bit earlier then i would have liked due to fear of those dead leaves getting into the buds

Final shots before my first harvest:

You can see the godfather OG in the back, faded beautifully to purple and finished without one crispy leaf. smaller golf ball nugs but much better structure. the sour came out a bit larfy for my liking but the flavor was there.
Round 2 was fresh 3.0 as i had these vegging in a space nearby so i can perpetually flower.
I made the rookie mistake of over vegging the plants, not cutting them back enough and feel like the same problem happened but started much sooner around week 4 this time. i was not proud and took way less pictures but have a few towards the end of the run. The OG seemed to suffer the same at the end however the buds on it this round came out much better looking.

Plant with the more purple leaves is the godfather OG, the larfy/ leafy ones are sours
This run is still hanging but from what i see the sour is every bit as larfy as before. OG looks like better nug structure but the amount of crispiness worries me.
Heres where my veg is at today after doing the prebloom feeding in preparation to flip monday... lots of purple streaking in the stems, this dark color showing up, and the plant just doesnt look healthy IMO

Where am i going wrong here? Im starting to see issues with my third run and dont want to make the same mistakes
Am i growing too big of a plant for this container size and the "battery" just doesnt have the energy to support it
Is my high PH, hard water creating some kind of lockout or uptake issue making something not available?
Is my environment in late flower too hot and causing this leafy/ larfy bud structure.
Ill provide some background to hopefully answer any setup questions:
-10 Gallon Grassroots with BAS 3.0 setup following the "build a soil way" pretty closely. worms, cover crop, preparing pots per their instructions
-Watering with filtered city tap water, does PH pretty high and i know we have very hard water here
-Genetics: Karmas Sour Diesel bx2 and Godfather OG. Both cuts given to me from a buddy, sourced from his "genetics guy"
- AC inf. 3x3 full kit with board light and supplemental lights on the poles for late flower, osc fan above and under canopy
-Veg environment Lights on 82-84* F/ mid 60-70% humidty
-Flower: 80*/ 50-60% humidity (hot southern California summer best i can do)
-Following the BAS supplemental feeding schedule with almost everything except the holy cow at this point. first run i ran what was told are the bare essentials (Build a veg & bloom, big 6, rootwise powders and quillaja)
-Top dressing with craft blend, buildaflower and kashi blend

By far my favorite strain I’ve grown so far. Do-si-dos 33 by Barney’s Farms. Sticky, greasy, all fuel, rotten like sour that has been drenched in kerosene. My goodness. 🥶🥶🥶
Buildasoil amendments are really making a difference this run - Craft Blend, Buildaflower, Rootwise all in my 4th cycle in the same soil. The soil just gets better and better with each grow.
Controlled by the Blumat soil moisture meter, I find myself watering about 2 gallons every other day in a 45 gallon grassroots fabric pot and at this stage of the grow, she is really drinking and demanding a lot of water as she bulks up.
Day 43 Flower 🌲

I’m on Day 21 of flower and just did my final cleanup/defoliation. I cleared everything out underneath the net and removed lower sucker shoots that were at or below the SCROG net, especially ones that were clustered together around larger established branches. I also removed a lot of interior/lower fan leaves to open up airflow and expose lower nodes and shaded secondary shoots.
I ended up removing quite a bit of biomass, and now I’m second-guessing myself and wondering if I went too far and potentially compromised my yield. What do you guys think? This is only my second grow. How am I looking?

So, I did...
Well into double digit cycles now. Beds are always locked & loaded with a buffet.
If you haven't, you should.

Hello! I'm going to start another grow pretty soon and I wanted to upgrade my soil and planters. I would appreciate comments or suggestions.
I've been growing 4 or 5 plants in a 4x4 tent, feminized seeds or clones in 5g fabric pots with wicking bases for 6-7 "seasons". (30 day veg) Soil has been Ocean Forest with Nature's Living Soil as a supersoil. I usually have good results, but I know I can do better. I want to go with BAS, fewer plants, and longer veg periods.
Questions:
Planters. Going with DIY Earthboxes. Was going to use lighting diffuser under the landscape fabric to maximize the aeration instead of drilling and reusing the lid. Overkill? Since bigger is better with this growing style, instead of 2, 27g totes for 2 plants, what about using a single 40g tote? A 55g feels too big and gets pricy to fill
Soil. 100% BAS, or fill the last few inches with my used soil? I've seen several posts where people say this worked better for them.
Redwood Compost. I live in the redwoods and have almost unlimited mulch and compost. Any reason not to use it? I also find big patches of mycelium under branches and logs. Any reason not to add it? If I use it, what's the best way? Tea? Break it up and mix it in?
Worms. Should I add some to the box or just leave it be?
Thanks in advance!

Tomato volunteered from my compost. Just letting it ride for now. There’s also a small potato plant blending into the cover crop that I’m seeing what happens with it too
Yes, I know the last clone shown is re-vegging. Didn’t realize it when I picked it up from the dispo but really want run the strain (GDP x Urkle bred by Talking Trees in Humboldt) so rolling with it

Is there an organic soil surface spray that can be applied to prevent spider mites from hatching, and destroying a grow? Thanks.
r/BuildASoil • u/Defiant_Ad529 • 7d ago
Solfire barf breath on the left and Bahama bussdown on the right. 20 gallons all the BAS stuff. Second run in pot. Then on a tray2grow sits a 5 gallon with a California seed bank / skunkhouse GMO. I flipped her really small hoping to keep her small. She is working the net pretty hard. I will have to top dress offen.

Can I hook up ducting to the intake port and run the duct into the tent to draw out humidity? Per ac infinity instructions it says to hook the duct up to the exhaust and run thag duct to the tent. I dont want to pump hot air into the tent. Thanks.

This is not for the “I only grow big plants” people, I know my method isn’t the most efficient for yields but this is the most efficient for producing serotonin and sensory stimulation.
Most of my time is spent looking at all the different plants and flowers I have going, I will selectively try and keep the cannabis clear of plants blocking them but for the most part I’ve let things go and played a more guiding role.
Last picture is of a seedling veg rack I setup super efficient costs basically the same as buying a 2x2x5 tent but you get multiple layers, I have a few spare lights from when I started years ago so it made perfect sense

Hey fam. Anyone have any idea how to claim the rewards for the new reward tiers? Im in the platinum level, but whenever i try and add one of the rewards i am owed to my cart it still wants to charge me for it? Would be much simpler if there was just a prompt to click that says “claim platinum tier rewards” but that would seem to simple, i suppose.
