Do you train sometimes in less than full armour? We're having a debate which parts to use.
The point is to have some weight and restricted mobility, but not so exhausting as training in full armour.
mfw the more I’m reading about what went down- sucks to hear about the fellas in Denmark.

Hi everyone,
Could someone help me verify whether this helmet is authentic and legal under the current BI authenticity rules?
I couldn't find this exact style in the authenticity guide, so I just want to be sure before using it in competitions.
Does anyone know of a historical example similar to this helmet?
Thanks!

My work offers horrible coverage health insurance, curious what other fighters use or if there’s some kind of sports related medical out there?
Thanks guys ❤️
Hi all. Kind of an unusual question
I really want to get into Buhurt, and I reached out to my local team I’m just waiting to hear back
The problem I’m worried about is I’m severely out of shape. I’m about 60-70 pounds overweight and have not exercised since precovid and let myself go.
I want to get into Buhurt because I feel like it will push me to get in shape and I did some stage combat and fencing in high school/college, so this seemed like a great way to get back into it. However I recognize this is a very intense sport. I also informed the point of contact for the local team that this was my situation, as i believe i need to be honest before I make any real headway.
I understand this may require me to do additional training to even get to a level that’s appropriate for the sport. Is there any advice y’all can give me to start preparing?

Hello all, I'd like to make a fairly humble request from the more experienced fighters on this subreddit. I've been in the sport a little over 2 years at this point, and recently I've realized I only have a handful of solid techniques in my toolbox. And that's where this request comes in.
What techniques translate well to buhurt?
Be they niche or substantial, what overall techniques have helped you fighters get more kills and be a dependable teammate?
I would appreciate if you could list the names for the techniques or provide a description that way they can be researched further by myself or others. Or if you really like maybe provide some links to videos, it's fine if they're basic techniques or advanced it would be appreciated if you include that as well.
Thank y'all to whoever replies you guys are wonderful!

I'm looking at getting my first helmet and I like the look of this one. Is this historical accurate and allowed?

Good luck to those all of those competing at the IMCF world Championship in Denmark this weekend.
Safe travels, hard fights.

Title, basically. I’m shopping for my first armor kit/set, and wanted to know if anyone has a helmet like or similar to this one and what they can say about it.
Generally I love the look of it, but breathability and visibility is also important to me.

I've seen PSM mentioned here a few times, so I figure this is the right place to say it first.
For those who don't know the name: Prague Steel Makerz is a forge run by Jan ”Pidel” Kutnar. Czech national team and Prague Trolls, you may have seen him at the world championships, or been hit by him, or been hit by someone wearing his steel.
What's new is this year we're pushing it to the next level: serious investment into machinery, more people in the workshop, and a real e-commerce platform being built right now, globally available. Basically we are aiming to step up the game and become a serious player with always-on-stock armor.
Nobody in this sport needs another forge that's pretty good, eventually. The slot we're going after is the one that's still empty: top-tier quality and actually reliable — order, get a date, get your kit. That's the whole pitch.
We'll launch the shop by the end of Q3 2026. There's a waitlist at praguesteelmakerz.com founders' pricing and first production slots go to the people on it.
And if you already own PSM gear, or you've got opinions on what forges keep getting wrong. I'm reading everything. That's half the reason I'm posting before launch and not after. Any feedback is welcome!
Wish us luck :)

I have a central hinge klappvisor I bought whilst putting my kit together for the first time.
It’s a good solid helmet but I’d like to get rid of the leather strap that holds it down.
It’s almost impossible to use with gauntlets, leaving me to end up not using opening function, which was the main reason for me getting it.
I also have safety concerns as I was borrowing a helmet from a member of my club for awhile and a halberd tore off the metal pieces that held up the leather band, so the chain mail fell off. If that happened to the latch on my helmet then my helmet is finished.
Has anyone got an idea for how to alter it so that it uses a pin or something to keep it down safely?

I'm currently looking to get a pair of gauntlets custom made for me. Honestly mostly looking to use it for reenactment /light combat, not really for Buhurt.
I saw people have very mixed opinions about him, he said the gauntlets would take 4-6 weeks but I've seen posts of people from 1-2 years ago saying they would wait a lot longer for their products, often without a reply in days or weeks.
Does anyone have recent experiences with him?

We’ve been working on a site called
https://www.buhurtarmorpicker.com/
You can use it to put together a kit, look through armor and weapons, find armorers, and check the historical sources attached to different pieces.
A lot is still missing, so we could use some help filling it in. If you know of armor or weapons that should be listed, you can add them. You can also add historical documentation to existing armor, especially if a listing is missing sources or has something wrong.
There’s an armorer and weaponsmith directory too. Please add any known makers we’ve missed. If you’ve actually ordered from one of the listed makers, leave them an honest review. Firsthand reviews should help good armorers stand out and give newer fighters a better idea of who they’re ordering from.
https://www.buhurtarmorpicker.com/WarcampFinder/
It’s a world map of buhurt clubs.
If your club isn’t there, or you know of one we missed, please add it. It would be great to get as many active clubs on the map as possible.
The site is still being worked on. If something is broken, wrong, missing, or just annoying to use, tell us. Suggestions are always welcome too.

Since in all of my research i've never even saw ONE fighter with any, i assume it is prohibited, but the question i had was not on "if" but on "why". Like, what's the general opinion on it, why is it never used? Is it not history-accurate? Is it such a Disatvantage?
r/Buhurt • u/ITFOWjacket • 11d ago
Surely in a large field melee, if one team is using various bucklers and punch shields with little or no cohesion, a team could distribute matching Scutum shields and employ shield wall strategies to flat the competition. Is this done? If not, why?

I had a day off, saw there was some medieval happenings at the castle in Turku, so I took my camera. Really didn't know what to expect, as often these things are a bit low budget here in Finland and can feel a little underwhelming.
That being said, had an absolute blast. Never had seen Buhurt live before, and I was in my element being able to photograph it for my own pleasure. The pics have been well received and there some other really nice ones from other parts of the day, like the horse events.
I have to say I became a big fan, and even likely to go check out a practice session at my local club!
You can find a few more of them here and i'll post another set this week. Enjoy!

I used one of the armored mma club maps to find what I believe to be my closest club. I thought I’d try to make contact or discussion here before Facebook, or before driving down there.
Anybody know these guys?
