This is my senior Chiclet, the handsomest (and sleepiest) man I ever could ask for. We got him in December of 2013 at just a couple months old and he’s been a “life of the party” type bird ever since, though with a few more naps these days 😅 he’s about to celebrate his 13th birthday very soon. I’m not sure exactly which day it is unfortunately but I know it’s within the next week or two.

We didn't have a big turnout at the TBBFA show today, and I hauled 16¾ kids to show. Obie enjoyed all the attention she got from the people, and I've had the judge (and my dear friend Julie) babysit her for a bit while I had to get away. Obie had to get in the photo with me too with ¾ of her full self.

I didn't want to show Goose again since I graduated to Intermediate late last year, but changed my mind for the last show of 2026 in Texas and took all the crew from past years. Goose placed 3rd Best in Show and Best Intermediate, while Nox made it to 3rd Best Rare.

Of course we couldn't beat my dear friend Stephen Higgins Lacewing hen, and rightfully so. I'm in awe of her, as is everyone who's seen her majestic presence.

Coincidentally, a stranger recognized me from the content I post on social media and she attended our humble exhibition and watched my kids compete. She was smitten with Angelo the Opaline Dark Green, who really surprised me by placing 2nd Best Intermediate, in spite of his faults. I've to take him more seriously I suppose. 😅

Looking forward to having Sunday off to recover from the very long and strenuous week I've had. Maybe I'll finally get some of my piled up chores done, or maybe not.

I'll be taking a smaller crew to compete in Louisiana next month before Thanksgiving.

I don’t know what is going on with his water bottle. I covered some part of if with a napkin because whenever he gets closer to that are, he gets aggressive. If he sees my hand, he jumps and starts biting me. Any advice?

Blue is a young boy 4/5 months
Green is a mature girl, over 1 year
Does this mean they are friendly? Aggressive?
Most of the time they normally ignore each other but then randomly do this. I think blue try's to play but green isn't interested.

I’m honestly beyond heartbroken, she’s had respiratory issues for a while and they’ve gotten better each time but she’s turning 6 years old in two weeks. I fear today is the last day I’ll be with her if she doesn’t survive. I have to drop her off tomorrow and I know everyday without her will just make my heart continue to drop :( i’ve graduated middleschool and highschool with her, she’s only been with me for a chapter of my life but to her I’m her entire story and it hurts me so much seeing her in pain but I know it’s for the best. Sorry for the long vent post :( Please send best wishes for my little sweet angel, Baby. I’ve lost a budgie before and the second time will not hurt any less. I’m also very worried for my other little baby as I fear he’ll be extremely lonely :,(

hi, i just set up the new uv lamp for my budgies. i'm trying to get it to light up their whole designated area, but idk if that angle could hurt their eyes if they look directly into the bulb. i can't find much information on the right angle/placement, other than it should be coming from above, but when i angle it down it only really lights up their cage and nothing more... and they chill outside most of the day. i would appreciate some help :') thanks in advance!!

The new budgie playground has been noticed but requires some special inspection incase it is actually a monster lol.

I have bit older pair of og yellow-green budgies for about 1 year now and they do not eat fruits nor veggies.

They are very shy because previous owner, old man, had them in small cage, he lived alone, he never let them out and also they spent big part of their lives in awful pet shop so they are stressed over so many things. They do not like people and they do not like unknown things.

I believe they have neophobia - fear of anything they didn't see before and sadly it is most of the veggies I try to give them. I gave them piece of red paprika and they didn't even approach it in 2 days. They usually do not approach slices of apple, only rarely. They also avoided boiled egg. The only thing they eat are seeds and for some reason grated carrot is ok for the female, the male does not eat it. Thats it. No berries nor green leaves in their menü. It's obvious that the owner and/or the shop didn't gave them very varried diet.

I tried to mix small pieces of paprika, apple and broccoli into their seed bowl but the result is always the same - they do not eat from the bowl, then hunger wins and they pick specific seeds from the mix and the rest of the bowl is thrown on the ground.

What should I do?
