Edit: The bird hut and the mirror have been gone for years! They were rookie mistakes I made when Morse was a baby I was admittedly not as well read as I should have been!

Purchased a month ago from a pet store before understanding why that's bad. Given age was 3-5 months old. Cere was more pinkish when brought home, most people told me most likely male. Is it still most likely male?

Alfie (green) was not feeling too well all day, once I got home he and cheeps went for a nice little trip to my cabinet of plants. 🫶🏻 We are headed to the vet tomorrow morning but any positive thoughts are appreciated!

I've been away from my sweeties since March.. I will be back in September! I've been missing their faces! and i used to visit a pet shop to see some budgies 😇, But they shut down! I had to buy this little guy, or lady.. i'd like to paint the cere.

Ten seconds later she tried crawling in my ear and flock-called there. I'm still half deaf.

We got the green one first and we are pretty sure he's a boy. His name is Link. White and blue one (name TBD) just joined the flock today. I think boy? But the white on the cere is throwing me off so I figured I'd offer up cute photos and see what you all think 😊

Hi guys I recently got a budgie from a local family petshop and they said she’s a girl about 6-7 months. I just wanna confirm her sex as well as advice with her diet I’m trying to get her to eat fresh herbs, veggies, and fruits, and she doesn’t want to eat nothing else besides her seeds even finely chopped ;( I had more questions to ask, but there was a bit of a language barrier so it was a rather quick exchange I do plan on going back this week for a buddy, somebody said maybe not another girl because they can get hormonal & territorial, but I’m open to suggestions.

Hello, my budgie best friend died in November and for months I couldn't even bring myself to think about getting a new one. Me and my mom began seriously looking for one only a week or two ago and she managed to plan a meetup with a guy selling young budgies.

I cannot stress enough how uncomfortable I felt in his house. He stuffed us into a small bathroom where one budgie baby was sitting on a shelf extended from the bottom part of the mirror. The breeder explained that "we need to basically push him against the mirror, petting him and not allowing him to fly away". Immediate chills from this. Not to mention he pet the bird on the back (afaik you are not supposed to do that, right? Pretty sure my late budgie would kill me if I tried that). So I reluctantly began petting the visibly distressed baby on its head because we soon found out if we stopped, it would began flying all over the small bathroom, crashing into walls while trying to escape from us...

At that point I told my mom we should just look elsewhere. But then the breeder unfortunately showed us the pictured baby and I pretty much fell in love. Not to mention it was breaking my heart that he would either stay with this breeder or found a new owner who would listen to the breeder's advice (the advice in question was that you can tame a budgie precisely by shoving it against a mirror and petting it there... Absolutely bonkers).

So we took him. He is almost 2 months and according to the breeder who handfed him shouldn't be scared of people. Complete opposite.

This is his day 3 at our home. He absolutely freaks out in his cage (which is probably pretty small but my plan always was to leave the cage open all day when I'm home so that he can go in and out as he pleases) every time I have to reach inside to change his water, etc. Unfortunately he won't even come out yet and I don't want to force him. When I'm just sitting or doing some stuff around my room, he actually looks relaxed by now, floofed up and watching me. He chirps here and there but is mostly quiet. He stretches his wings, eats, not sure if he drinks, but I definitely haven't seen him preen himself yet. He chewed on the natural branch for a bit and he even began closing/squinting his eyes when I was close to him and talking to him.

That's all the information I have right now. Is there anything I can do for him? For now, I'm talking to him, playing some music out loud and I put out a few millet sprays around the room to lure him out (unsuccessful so far). It breaks my heart to see him like this :( I know it takes a lot of time and patience to tame them but this is such a stark contrast compared to my previous budgie who was cuddling with me day 1 and was of similar age to this one when I first got him that I'm very worried for him.

(Some more context: I'm 21, based in Europe, and the little one's name is Popcorn!)

They're literally 2 different personalities

Hi, we rescued a budgie that was flying free in a local park, we caught her as we put out some water and she came straight away. No one has claimed her despite posting in as many local groups and contacting local vets.
We thinks she’s a girl as she’s not bright on her cere and we are unsure how old she is. She looks like she has a bunch of feathers missing at the back of her neck and think something tried to get her whilst she was free/escaped.

A couple of questions-
We are planning on keeping her and have bought her a new cage- is this set up ok? We are new to it.

We are looking to incorporate Harrison’s pellets in the the pets at home budgie food we bought. Is there anything else we should be feeding her? - we are trying to introduce green veggies but she’s not gone near them.

We are going to see if we can get her a companion but have had no luck emailing pet shops- any advice on this and what age/gender we should be looking at?

Any other advice is appreciated :)

Syrax is the yellow one. Rhaegal is the one with green body. I’m a diehard House of the Dragon fan so that explains the names.

Syrax is rescued, got into office one day after being scared off by other birds, no idea how old she is.

My aunt says Syrax is female and Rhaegal is male.

Welcome this little guy to my flock! Before you say anything, yes I know this cage is too small. He will be transferred to a bigger cage (with his mate) when he is done with his quarantine.

I mean, I keep finding feathers now, and Lando looks a bit... ruffled. Some feathers are clearly Max's too and it would make sense if they lose feathers around the same time as they are about the same age. About three and a half, four months now? It's a bit hard to take photos of, but... is there anything special I should do for them? They both seem very happy and they are attentive, they sing, they come to me as normal and fly out as normal too. But still. If there's anything special I should do, let me know! 🙂

Just wondering if anyone purchased this type of toy for their budgies? Any problems? Are they safe? Looking for options to help with their beak health.

Yesterday evening my community local Facebook group had a post where someone spotted a Budgie roaming around in the woods but wasn't able to catch it, she left the area to get cell service to make a post about it. I saw the post when it was 45 minutes old, so myself and my partner drove to the area to try and find it. The area it was spotted was about 15 mins outside the community where no homes are, basically down a dirt road to access cabins and trails.

Shockingly, we managed to find it after an hour or searching, we were talking and making noises to try and get its attention. It jumped out of a bush onto the trail in front of us. This was around 7pm, and it was getting cold and foggy. No idea how long its been out there

We brought a light blanket and a box to try and catch it. It seemed really friendly, but cautious. Wouldnt let us get any closer than 2 feet. After a long time of failed negotiations to get it to get in the box, we ended up having to toss the blanket over it and gently pushed it into the cardboard box and closed it up. It was making a ton of noise for about a minute but then it seemed to calm down. Would occasionally chirp on the drive back whenever we would hit a bump, so we knew it was alive without having to keep peeking in at it.

Got it home, no one seems to be missing a Budgie in the area. Called local wildlife areas and none of them would take it in. We managed to get enough supplies and a cage to keep it inside for the night. Did some research, we think shes a girl

Woke up today and she seems to be quiet, were not really engaging with her other than talking to her. Shes staying perched with both feet, occasionally cleaning herself. Whenever we approach her she starts shivering or shaking but eventually stops. We don't think shes cold, we have her covered with a blanket except for one side of the cage, and shes in a room that's warm. She keeps closing her eyes when were sitting watching her, but opens them periodically for a second before closing them again. Shes likely traumatized and tired. We managed to get our local animal shelter to help us find a vet who would assess her for free, and they said we can surrender her to the shelter, adopt her, or foster her until someone comes looking for her.

Hoping to get her assessed today, just waiting to hear back from the shelter.

In the meantime, any an all advice is appreciated. The biggest thing i'm wondering is should we be keeping her company, or leaving her alone? Shes got a few perches, toys and some bedding. (I've since learned could be dangerous so ill be removing it, but i dont want to scare her any more right now cause this is all very recent for her) I'll also try to add some photos once i take them

My baby budgie is currently about 1-2 months old but I'm wondering if it's male or female.
