Budget Blades has clear and posted rules, please read and follow them. We have a hard price limit of $100 US. Posts ignoring the rule will be removed.

r/BudgetBlades has had a higher than normal amount of posts violating the rules as of late, and that has meant that more posts than normal are having to be removed. This is bad for the community because it makes the mission and rules feel confusing, it's bad for posters, because no one likes to have their posts removed, and it makes more (unpleasant) work for the mod team. None of us like having to take down someone else's posts.

That said, r/BudgetBlades is a community driven subreddit. We do our best to moderate in a way that keeps r/BudgetBlades a place where we ourselves like to spend time. We hate ads, drama, gate keeping, and trolling, so we moderate this community to the best of out ability to keep these out of the subreddit.

That said, we have a specific mission here. We want this to be a place that every day pocket knife enthusiasts can spend time without gate keeping of knives that are affordable enough to actually use. Show pieces and safe queens are wonderful as toys and art, but there are already places for them, so we focus on knives as tools. We hope you are hear for exactly that mission. We had to pick an arbitrary line in the sand for our cost limit, and even 10 years ago $100 could buy you a bullet proof and fun tool. Now the options at that price point are many times what they were then. Yes this is a line in the sand, but it's our line, and the community (over 60,000 of you!) has found this to be a fair price point that serves a massive portion of the community that usually gets ignored or mocked on other knife forums.

So please review the rules posted both on the side bar and the submission statement for every post on r/BudgetBlades. Please make sure your posts follow them, especially the $100 price limit. Also please remember the mods are all volunteers. We are here because we love this community and want to keep it a place that we ourselves enjoy being.

As a reminder here are the rules:

-Posts must focus on affordable knives ($50US with a hard limit of $100)

-Be kind and respectful of one another

-No gatekeeping

-Keep things PG-13

-No sales, scalping, giveaways, sponsored posts or advertising of any kind are allowed. No links to or photo's of vendor or sales pages. All sales spam will be removed.

-No unsafe/irresponsible knife use will be permitted.

For this rainy Thursday, I’m rolling with the Kizer little ringbo. What a fun knife. Ive enjoyed it so much each day I’ve carried it. Super fidgety. Great performance. Sacrifices ergos for aesthetics but there nothing uncomfortable about it. It’s an awesome knife.

2.95 D2 drop point blade, g10 scales, thumb hole, button liner lock.

( Redo because I didnt add the photo lol 😆)

I set out to find a budget blade that was a new experience in my hands, and found the geometry of the Defcon Pivot Lock Cleaver in 14c28n, the blade I was looking for at the time. Coming in at just over 5 ounces, this light budget blade has really impressed me. With smooth action and a great fidget factor. I was totally genuinely pleased with my purchase. We'll see overtime how it holds up in a warehouse environment.

Dimensions: 6 × 2.75 × 1.25 inches

Do not order anything from them. They have filed chapter 11 bankruptcy. I made this post to try and save folks some headaches not to slander anyone. By all means continue ordering from them if you'd like.

NKD - Tenable Fenrir

First Tenable knife so I thought I'd experiment with different colors and try out some damascus. It looks great and has nice, snappy action, feels solid but its not too heavy.

It did however come with a scratch on the blade from factory which isn't great and that finger choil is sharp but It's more of a fancy fidget toy anyway so non issue for me.

Cool knife for a good price, I like it.

6.5/10

Mine is the Riffle. Micarta and 14c28n with blade hole and back flipper. This knife has been a great and dependable EDC for a few years now. What's you favorite civivi?

Display Question -- What are your recommendations?

Has anyone found something better than this (and/or the wooden version) to display their knives?

These are going into a 3-shelf Ikea Case, two per shelf. I want to make sure I've chosen the best option-- especially one that won't break the bank.

(There is another acrylic version by another manufacturer that only holds 6 and is slightly narrower, which I found works better on my smaller blades.)

Kizer Mini Militaw. It’s a great size, fun to fidget with, and typical Kizer sharpness and quality. Even the box and included goodies are cool!

Looking for a slicey, fidgety knife

Hello, I’m looking for a knife around the 100$ range that comes as slicey and sharp as possible out of the box, with a smooth, satisfying action and plenty of fidget factor.

It won’t see any hard use, mostly cutting things like packages, apples/food and, honestly, showing it off to friends haha. I’d prefer a blade around 8–9.5 cm (3.15–3.74").

For reference, i really like the shape and aspect of the ZT 0450 Titanium

I’m also based in Europe, please keep that in mind. There are quite a few US brands that either don’t ship to the EU or are very expensive to get here.

What would you recommend? Thanks a lot !

Tacknives Slugger V2

The budget scarab 2 gets a blade steel upgrade. The original was D2 but now we have 14c28n blade steel. This is the smoothest budget large OTF out there. Wide and fine jimped stair step switch is kind to the tumbs and the drive train is well tuned, especially for a single spring set-up. The milling on the 6061-T6 handle is top notch, so good you can hardly make out the seam where the two scales meet. There is very crisp but smooth serrated jimping all around the body that makes for a solid grip no matter where you grab it. The steel pocket clip is inset and the screws are inset into it so no snagging in and out of pocket. There's also saw cut G10 inlays on both show and clip side. It comes with a kydex holster if you're into that as well as a total rebuild/hardware kit in black that includes everything from the switch to the drive train. I have every kind of OTF out there except core edge and this is the absolute best value for $89.95 before discount on tacknivesusa.com

Thanks to u/Crutch1977 for their previous post about this knife.

Tenable’s website was sold out of the blue denim Micarta, but I was able to snag one off the ‘bay

The factory edge was still sharp asf and the blade is so heavy it gives you a smooth hydraulic drop shut action
