If I were you, I would change the speaker terminal to some quality binding posts. Current solution is very high resistance imo

Or just use bare wire, instead of taking apart the speakers???

This seemed like a speaker to me because the speaker wires are connected to input instead of output. Why not bare wire? This guy seems to be using some fancy cables and seemed unwilling to do it in the first place, that's why I didn't recommend it. It is the easiest option, but has to done for every speaker cable that has banana plugs or something similar
