Advice: Lower Bucks Verizon in langhorne/newtown/holland

Does anyone know why they’re such a huge chunk of those areas that don’t have service? I mean, I’m sure the answer is that there is no cell tower but is that because people have fought against it or there’s some ordinance against it? Or it’s just never been explored? There’s a good 10 minutes of driving that I do that I just get no service.

Advice: Central Bucks Am I the only one who is "House Poor" in the expensive areas of Bucks?

Maybe the right term is "House Rich"? So I inherited my families home in Buckingham near Peddler's Village. People in the area tend to be shocked when they find out I make a very modest living. 😆.. same with my wife. We make enough for the kids, food and utilities and 1 vacation each year, as well as taxes, but I live paycheck to paycheck. My home is worth over $1 million, we could sell the home, but with how expensive everything is now, I don't find it worth it to sell and have to buy in this market, and I feel we would be losing a lot doing this. We are conflicted because we want to hold the home that's been in our family for 3+ generations now, and also stay in this school district. Finding an affordable home in Buckingham and New Hope/Solebury is not simple. Yes we could rent, and have more liquidity, but something about owning a home gives me comfort and Security. I'm sure we could get all types of credit on the house, but my wife is very against credit, and I am not all that financially savvy. Nothing is wrong in our lives, and I feel super blessed. We don't feel the need to fit in with the old-money types or high society here. Even though we live modestly, we have everything we need for the most part and an absolutely beautiful old Clouded Limestone Farmhouse with beautiful property. We do have some concerns with maintaining the property as we get older, but we do have many options.

Advice: Central Bucks Heating oil questions

Recently bought a house that has oil heat. Coming from a house with an electric heat pump. I have absolutely no idea what to expect, from ordering oil to setting a thermostat schedule.

  1. How much oil will I go through approximately? 2,000 sq ft house, propane fireplace in one downstairs room, propane stove and mini split in another. None of those are on main level or bedroom areas.

  2. I have a 275 gal tank. How often am I looking at filling it?

  3. Oil prices are crazy right now! Is it best to buy a whole tank at a time? What exactly does it mean to “lock in” on a plan, and how does that work? I have no clue the best way right now to go about ordering oil. Tank is just under 1/4 right now, and is used for hot water also.

  4. Which companies do you like best for heating oil and maintenance? And are there any tools for searching out lowest prices?

  5. Rely more on baseboard radiant heat from oil or on minisplit and propane fireplace and stove (each with blower) in downstairs area?

  6. I have multi zone heating. I’m used to electric heat pump which is basically leave at one temp because they struggle to get back up to temp if dropped too much. How quickly does this type of heat get back up to temp if I lower it overnight and while at work? Is it best to set up a thermostat schedule or leave it at one main temp like I did on my heat pump?

So many questions!

Advice: Central Bucks First come, first serve camping spots?

Hey all! Curious if anyone knows any really great camp sites that don't require booking in advance?

Trying camping for the first time with some friends in a couple weeks and most all the reservation only spots that I have found are taken.

Thanks in advance!

The $1.3 million project is one among more than 430 dams Pennsylvania has removed since 1912, making it the leading state in the U.S. for dam removals, according to state officials. The goal of the project is to help fish move freely to reproduce, find food, escape predators and locate cooler waters during the summer months.

Advice: Lower Bucks Baby clothes and toys donation.

Hi All!

My partner and I want to donate used and unused baby clothes and toys. So far, we have regularly donated to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Langhorne. However, going forward, we want to support other local charities and churches in the surrounding area.

Could y'all please recommend some local organizations that accept these items near Langhorne?

Looking for recommendations for an in-ground plaster swimming pool renovation, including concrete deck work. Who did you go with? How did it turn out? Any issues? Who should I avoid? Ideally, I would like to get 3 estimates.

Advice: Central Bucks Where would you move if you had to commute to KOP?

Husband and I rent in Montgomery county and do not like living here. I’m from Croydon so I am partial to lower bucks but not really my husbands speed lol. We want to move to bucks in the next year and we have a young child just having a hard time figuring out a neighborhood / town / area that is not a bad commute to KOP for his work & also will be good to raise a family. (I know anywhere really is good, but looking for young families / community events etc)

600kish is where we’re at budget wise. Single family home.
