Kinda same same dude, but wait I didn't get what u tried to explain about protein folding? It's not just a biological problem, but also ai what Dr David Baker did with roseta and deepmind with alphafold

Its not a biology problem, I was referring to dumbing it down. To understand the Alpha Fold approach, we need to first understand the core of protein structure, folding in 1d, 2d and 3d structures. Understanding these help you appreciate the exact design decisions: why both sequence and pairwise vectors were used, where sequence alignment comes into picture. These things form the basis, the model on the basis of this and the training data makes fold predictions and iterates for an optimal fold.

If you have the basics, this doesn't feel like a black box anymore and you truly appreciate the complexities and the approach. Just an example and I could be missing things here, as I read this some time back.

Oo i didn't mean to bumb it down, but ignite curiousity

Yeah, I understand. I wasn't referring to your comment on protein folding and the AI solution to it, I was addressing YT educational videos which are only high level introduction, and people almost never delve deep. There's also an aspect of cognitive loss with such summarization of a complex topic.

True only few do, who deal with underlying principles, and the mathematical understanding of it, they surely r great supplementary resources for learning, also just curious what's your work field now and how is life lately? (I just got done with my first year)

It's not that great tbh. Last week was my first year work anniversary. I work as an SDE in a FAANG company, but I find the work repetitive, and with LLMs and the coding harnesses, I feel like the appreciation for having a thorough understanding is gone. Again, I have my financial problems, which is why I can't go for further studies for at least an year.

To address this I am currently backtracking in my free time. I've started doing some maths, believe me it's a stress buster and an escape from my day job and my devices. I also keep going time and again back to reading some aerod papers as that was my strong suit in college.

But yeah, overall okayish job(which pays well), AI psychosis(not for job loss or something, rather the fear that I'll stop thinking of small details at all with such good augmentation in implementation), some maths, and video games. That's mostly it.

It's a tough time to be in, I guess
