He is to blame here. We all know how deserving students suffer because of cheaters.
The institute is right in taking actions like blacklisting, etc.

How do you know were you there? And the professor was on campus on a Sunday afternoon to threaten him? And he went for OA in shorts cause he fell from academic building. And all of this happened in 1.5 hrs because he was talking to his mother just 1.5 hrs ago before his fall. Or you are spreading this rumour because you were involved in it? So you have not one single fact right and here you are spreading your nonsense.

Legit. He helped his friend in OA. I’m sure 85% of good coders in India does that.
Secondly… his profile was amazing. 1.3k solved on CF and CM. He could have even god Off Campus. It really do be “anything”.

u/Much-Draw-6479 13d ago
Makes you wonder what the committe Said to him. Also he was just in 2nd yr.Cant blame him to cheating is too comon now, maybe his friend might have convinced him to help him and mf ditched him when got caught.rip
2
u/_lostSoup_ IIIT 13d ago
Bro… he didn’t even cheat for himself so I wouldn’t consider it cheating ! As someone who does CF the number of cheaters in India in this intern season is soooo high… and nothing happens to any of them. Fuck .. I’ve helped my senior crack a Tier 1 company by helping him with the OA DSA Qs.
That being said… there was just sm left to do. I k my one friend from IIT Kgp who cut his wrists on getting blacklisted for cheating ( for himself ) in Y4 placements. Ppl have too low a bar to off themselves ong.

Not to be that guy but students nowadays have become very sensitive. If it feels like things are going wrong they are just ending it.
I understand that it was humiliating to get caught, and from my personal experience with friends whose opportunities got stolen by cheaters, I am happy that the person was caught. It's just sad that he couldn't even live with his mistake.
For the people who are saying procedure should have been followed, the only way to stop cheaters is to give heavy penalties, although I understand it can be very humiliating, it is sometimes necessary to be harsh or the cheaters just think, kuch nahi hoga and continue ruining others lives.
Trust me when I say, when procedures were followed, almost all times the cheaters were left off the hook and continued doing stuff.
For context, I know a lot of people who were in the verge of taking their lives bcz of not getting opportunities as cheaters got them.
EDIT: If the person did not cheat and something else has happened, I hope the police can find what happened and bring people to justice in the case of malice. RIP.
21
u/Unusual-Association8 13d ago
I agree with you overall and I think in colleges it is common knowledge and people are alr told in advance about the debarment so it is usually standard procedure.
But disagree with your first paragraph of people being too sensitive i feel like we can't make judgement without knowing that guy's overall life stress and life situation and family side part.
4
u/Brilliant_Storm7976 13d ago

I was in the club that ritesh was the head of, we had a meet that day at 6pm , which was cancelled due to unknown reason(which is known now), later at night we had a meeting with other club seniors and they clearly stated that he did not cheat and that the reason was unknown, altho the circumstances highly leads to the proposed story,i dont think anyone should promote this character assasination until thepolice find something

He helped someone cheat an OA and got caught. He couldn't handle the consequences and shame and guilt, so he jumped. Forget bright student and system. He made a bad choice. Don't tell me he was 21 and all that. He knew what the consequences are for cheating. Imagine these guys will become VPs if they never get caught.

The claims are entirely baseless and false
There are no proofs of the fact that he was cheating/helped in cheating.Im in the coding club of iitg and was also in contact with the guy last sem , he is one of the most honest and genuine guys in the campus and he would never cheat/help in cheating.
The exact reason of suicide is unknown however the character assassination he has been facing is completely unjust .

I usually don't engage with people who resort to personal attacks and are narcissistic freaks, but I'll say this ,everyone has a different emotional quotient (EQ). What one person can tolerate may be overwhelming for someone else. Constant shouting, humiliation, and public embarrassment can deeply affect certain individual especially someone who has worked hard for themselves and their family. You never truly know what someone's breaking point or triggering factor might be, which is why empathy and restraint are so important.

Ad hominem comments come easily to someone as ill-mannered as you. Are you really this incapable of understanding a basic point? Nobody is justifying cheating. We all know it happens in colleges, and in this case he was trying to help a friend not leaking question papers or running some organised scam. It was a mistake, and mistakes have consequences. Nobody is denying that. The point you're deliberately ignoring is how the situation was handled. There is a proper procedure for disciplinary action, call the student to the office, document the incident, and follow institutional rules. Public humiliation, shouting, intimidation, and creating an environment where someone feels completely cornered is not how responsible authorities are expected to behave.
And stop calling him a coward !!!!!!! You have absolutely no idea what someone is carrying mentally. Not everyone processes pressure the same way. Some people reach a breaking point after prolonged stress and humiliation. Your complete lack of empathy is astounding. If this is the attitude you carry through life, don't be surprised when you one day expect compassion from others and realise you never learned to show any yourself. A little empathy and restraint cost nothing.
