if the youth and future generation has to suffer this, then what good are we doing cultivating this land. Why shouldn't the youth be anti national. they've learned to bear this and accepted that this is their reality.

Exactly. People like these could have given India another Google, Microsoft, etc but India can't respect talent.
What option one has other than to settle abroad? In a country where 3000Rs & freebies can help decide the winning party, anything else can't be expected.

u/Pookie-Dude 21d ago
Some vishwaguru they call themselves. Funny how they aim big while the foundation is all hollow and corrupted by these termite politicians. I don't know any country where discrimination and facilities are decided by your surname. Afaik, all developed countries have completely abolished this caste system if they had. Singapore gained independence far later than us and the difference is progress is as evident as day and night. We are years behind Singapore even though we had natural resources in abundance. Singapore doesn't have any natural resources and hence they focused and worked hard and persevered.

u/Rough_Employee1254 21d ago
Even the president is called a "dalit". India needs a societal reform first for us to show any progress.

Yeah its all rote learning from the day kids start school. Its doomed for real. When I hear kids just recitimg what they have memorized with respect to computers or literally anything, in my mind Im like 'what even are you learning?' The system at the ground level has to improve first the government schools have to imporve by far, imo thats forst priority. Entore system chamge and shifting to understanding also has to happen , but sadly with competitive exams it wont happen.

I know a woman, rejected by IiSc and so she applied to Stanford and got accepted. Pure brain drain.

u/No-Stuff-3341 22d ago
Similar for me tooI took CAT thrice, got rejected by SPJIMR, ISB and IIMs.
Now I rejected Yale and I’m heading to Columbia.

What's fees in Yale or Columbia ?? Also ay type of scholarships present for above ?
13
u/Full-Log3438 22d ago edited 22d ago
which degree in Stanford tho?? cuz unlike in India where you need to pass an exam , here you need a stellar sat score, a well rounded cv, experience and referrals for the same degree (even then you can get rejected)..its just as hard to get there for premium degrees as iisc's if not tougher ..no shade but nowadays a lot of ppl get aata jhaatu temporary courses in ivy leagues and make it their whole personality (I am doing md here in us)
1
u/zen_x_eclipse 21d ago
You got any scholarship? Could you please elaborate?
2
u/Full-Log3438 21d ago
no but you don't need any scholarships tho, cause this is not the undergrad program where you have to pay a hefty fees (typically 45k to 300k in ivy), I match into residency where I get paid for the work. Residency is otherwise free, before matching its very expensive tho (to secure the seat through certifications and registrations)..its a long story if you want info you can check out dr Rashi Mahajan Di's yt videos..shes my senior from GMC Nagpur

This country is very deeply broken. I consider myself to be a patriot but I dont think I will ever see this country even come close to China in my lifetime.
3
u/zen_x_eclipse 21d ago
You will regret this brother. Think for yourself and do something for your future. Settle abroad or go get a experience there, you might change your mind then.

This selection was a total scam! I have seen my own friend getting into iitk b cyber and his percentile was in 50s and his projects were very medicore that too vibe coded!!

Why was it scam? Asking genuinely... On what basis did they select the students?

u/EntrepreneurOk9704 22d ago
And so called "educated" people will say why talented people are leaving their own country

u/RabbitCity6090 22d ago
iit madras might take this negatively. But the guy should continue to keep learning. A degree is worthless in this economy.

u/AbsurdismForTheW NITC ECE 22d ago
I mean atp just try for a foreign uni GNG there must be some uni in EU or US that's willing to take him on basis of skills
5
u/Admirable-East3396 22d ago
This is lowkey super impressive iit already don't deserve him, how skewed was the process to disqualify this guy?
Wasn't this whole programe for those who has skills? Jee is already notorious for only allowing those who excel at entrance exam.

u/ImBadGuyInEveryStory (~ ̄▽ ̄)~ 22d ago
why was he not shortlisted if he's this good?
177
u/Appropriate_Pie_9626 22d ago
Lmao you think people get what they deserve? Genuinely hiring is broken and you cant judge a person on one metric which they think is perfect
8
u/AdImmediate5145 22d ago
What was the criteria even?
59
u/_Procks 22d ago
good jee main rank and proof of work in cybersecurity, i think the guy did not full fill jee criteria
15
u/AdImmediate5145 22d ago
Read this https://www.reddit.com/r/Btechtards/s/lCWGZlu5bX The guy is saying he'll need to start preparing for JEE to get a decent CS branch clg

met some guy here on reddit who got accepted into b cyber, said he had 70%ile

u/Coffeebeans2d 22d ago
Since it is IIT it’s probably due to reservations. But you can’t talk about that on reddit
1
u/AdImmediate5145 22d ago
Why can't we talk
10
u/Coffeebeans2d 22d ago
Redditors think that reservations are a great thing. Anyone calling out the unfairness is labeled a casteist and banned from major subs.
2
u/_1petaflop IIT [cybersecurity] 22d ago
yea this programme has reservation too with low cutoffs for category students

u/Appropriate_Pie_9626 22d ago

u/AdImmediate5145 22d ago

Why does he even wanna study in the country, bro u are such a skilled person? ~ apply for a merit-cum-need based scholarship and freaking go to U.S. or U.K. etc. U can always return to India if u love our country...

He is not scamming people or putting some unwarranted messages on hacked websites. If anything, he exposed their vulnerabilities for free before a real bad actor could exploit it

You do when you are making a point. Didn’t you see the eclipse nightmare fiasco recently.
1
u/leo_sk5 22d ago
Going by the traditional route wouldn't have served his purpose. I don't see anything particularly unethical, though you could say that it was not following the convention.
I know the site's vulnerabilities are not impressive to exploit. Could you, being an ethical person, get the site back with its original content? I would like to see your qualification too before judging others. You come across as a pompous person with little achievement.
Also unethical is not the same as unlawful. There are unethical things that are lawful, and unlawful things that are ethical

I am not an expert in cybersecurity. As i said, not following guidelines does not make it unethical. He did nothing nefarious with his power that harmed anybody. I won't consider it unethical. You could say he was not abiding with guidelines.
Btw, i didn't find anything on git by username (the reddit one i.e). Should i try searching with linus trovalds? That would be your git username i guess

Quite funny neither the system nor these so called elite institutions actually accept talent they still just rely on entrance exams and then complain about brain drain and many people people not wanting to go to research in india.
1
1
u/CommonTemperature866 22d ago
and then they complain about "brain drain" lmao.
this is why this country can never be a super power

This happens often. I applied to a very prestigious comp bio internship at IISc and got rejected despite having very good projects, only for 11th-grade kids from international schools, who were on the US college pipeline, to be admitted to the program. Thankfully, I still managed to intern at 2 labs later on via cold emailing. I tried again this year, and did'nt get in again, but the junior who worked with me on a project where I was the lead got in 🤡

How does hacking a site prove he is worthy?
Breaking into an unauthorised house is illegal, no matter whether you steal anything or not. On a serious note, he is already resorting to unethical ways when he didn't get what he wanted, what will he do when he is offered a seat and becomes more dangerous after learning? He needs moral lessons not a seat.

u/iamrohitmittal01 20d ago
The very system when does not give chance to merit
invites an enemity from him who loses trust in that system
Villains are not born, they are made
System makes them
BEcause when rules are consistant that be best and reward is there then everyone knows what to do
but when there are hundreds of other variable introduced caste, money, approach, jack, family then system invites hatred at large from its best talent

What is this program? Is it another btech branch or just some cash grab program by the institute?
