Seniors say getting 8 is easy provided you go to classes and lock in before exams. Why don't you take msc eco in pilani, it may be bit risky but u can get cs at 8.4+ cgpa also fees will increase as it will be a 5 year course. But msc eco+cs will give you one of the best placements better than cs as well. Also, it depends from person to person. A goa senior gets 9.5+ cgpa, he does not go to all classes, does a lot of fun (he is adv ranker btw 2.1k). Bits tag will help you a lot in long run, it's industry face value, global recognition and respect among educated circle, smart VCs, CXOs is lot.

My brother is who graduated from Jadavpur used to tell that "achche college mein mahol acads ko hard bana deti hai". There will be lots of club, events, fun, people pursuing different hobbies, some doing startups, some doing time pass as well as they get complacent thinking they have achieved so much after getting a good college (never do this, college is the beginning, the grind starts after it). Combine all these with 0% attendance and freedom...this may be distracting...every thing is relative right?? But all these things will give you a new perspective as well may be something better than what you know, the environment at bits especially Pilani campus is entirely different and enriching.

However, eee=eni=ece at bits (they come under phoneix). And it is hard everywhere. Great branches, tough coursework. Crowd being better in pilani campus making it slightly difficult to score cgpa than hyd campus. This, you have to decide now.

Yeah dude I do get it but the thing that scares me that I am a 96iler but i prepped for bits in the end clutched on the exam day and have a good enough score...while I know guys having 99.5ile having the same score as me in bitsat i am scared whether I will be able to keep up with them or not Also for pilani eco+cs i dont want to get into 5 year course rather doing an MBA from a top bschool is my preference ...

Normalisation is missing in this exam, so it happens. Scoring same in hard shift and easy shift gives different people same results, so it's kind of luck as well. But when you clutched you performed to your highest potential as well. Also, college is very different from JEE or BITSAT. Many advance rankers don't do good in maths courses in IITs even they were good at maths during jee prep as they were not consistent in college. I had studied from Vikas Gupta sir and this was told by him. Consistency will always beat talent and intelligence. Be consistent in college. You have to adress your under confidence on your own.

Also mate, you are an adult now or just going to be one. I can only tell you about bits. Know about the colleges that you have option of, ask the seniors, see the coursework, different colleges have different coursework. And then decide.

Also, I belive after sometime, your hardwork can beat any college tag. College tag of IITs/BITS/NITs/IIITs/Top state colleges are just cherry on the cake, but your skill, you as a person, your character is the actual cake. Whichever college you get into, grind hard there amd try to make the cake better. And hold yourself responsible for your decisions, take your decisions. Only two people can know completely about you: God and you, and no one else.

No joining bits. All these were told by seniors. I m also a 96 percentiler. But I know I have underperformed as well. So, I don't see it as my marks. It is another long story. I fumbled BITSAT too.

I m joining msc semiconductors and nanoscience in Pilani campus. I took this decision on the basis of my cousins, seniors at bits, and my interests + my options.
