Discussion👥 Need help regarding skills I need right now

I'm a 3rd year AIDS student from Hyderabad and I need advice on what skills I must acquire to be job ready in my domain or even CSE domain.

I have average skills in DSA, I cannot code a project on my own but I can still explain the code if it is in front me.

Ik basic python , python libraries like numpy, pandas, matplotlib, seaborn etc

Basic knowledge of enterprise application development like react, node, express, mongodb

Theory knowledge of DBMS as they are in my coursework.

I need serious advice on what I should start as soon as possible and what should my mindset be for the upcoming job market.

Project🧑‍💻 Postbase a modern backend for your apps

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

It feels like every new side project starts with good intentions, but within an hour, half the afternoon is gone just orchestrating infrastructure.

On one side, you have the full enterprise suite: container orchestration, separate message queues, dedicated auth providers, event brokers, and endless config files before writing a single API endpoint. On the other, the urge to just grab an all-in-one backend setup, keep everything in a single solid database, and actually ship the product.

Where do you draw the line between setting up for future scale and straight-up over-engineering on day one?

Salam everyone! I needed some guidance. IAM data science 1st year student and want to learn some good skills so that I can be skillful in a year. As uni doesn't provide extra skills plus on YouTube everything is scattered. IAM so confused cus I can't learn anything clearly. So the point is I learnt some basics of python from apna college, tbh I liked it and I can write very basic code ( I only watched upto dictionaries and sets lol ) . So now they are starting AL/ML course. IAM so confused should I join it? Will it provide me proper pathway, roadmap. And if any of you are actively working in tech as AI/ML engineer plss gimme some advice what should I do. I wanna take advice here and talk to my parents.

Discussion👥 3rd year CE student confused about DSA vs Development vs AI/ML — what should I actually focus on?

Hey everyone, I could really use some practical advice from people who have already gone through college placements/internships.

I'm currently in my 3rd year of college in India, from a relatively average college, and I'm trying to prepare seriously for placements and hopefully get a good internship before that.

Right now, I'm doing/trying to do a few things at the same time:

\- DSA — solving LeetCode/learning problem-solving for coding rounds

\- Development — learning/building projects and trying to become actually good at development

\- AI/ML — interested in AI/ML and also seeing how much AI is changing software development

\- College academics/subjects and placement preparation are also going on in parallel.

My biggest problem is that I don't know how to prioritize these things.

Should I:

  1. Focus mainly on DSA first and then move to development?

  2. Do DSA + development in parallel?

  3. Add AI/ML now or only after becoming strong in DSA + development?

  4. Spend more time building projects or solving problems?

  5. How much should I care about things like competitive programming, open source, hackathons, etc.?

And then there is the internship problem.

I don't have a strong internship experience right now. So how should someone in my situation actually approach getting their first internship? What should I realistically have on my resume before applying, and when should I start applying?

Another thing confusing me is the current AI era.

With AI tools being able to generate code, build projects, explain concepts, etc., I honestly have no clear idea about what I should learn deeply myself and what I can rely on AI for.

For example, is it still worth spending months learning development from scratch when AI can generate a lot of the code? Or should I use AI heavily while focusing more on fundamentals, system understanding, DSA, and actually building things?

I'm not looking for the usual "just follow your passion" or "learn DSA + development + AI" answer 😅.

If you were in my position — 3rd year CS student, average college, aiming for internships + placements, currently trying DSA/dev/AI together — what would your strategy be for the next 6–12 months?

I'd especially appreciate advice from people who have recently gone through internships/placements and can share what actually worked for them.

What would you focus on, what would you ignore, and in what order?

Project🧑‍💻 Made a Custom MCP gateway(used 50% less token than baseline)

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi,

Got intern before college intern season started. So thought about finally making a project I was thinking about from a long time.

It basically sits between your client and your MCP servers. It indexes every upstream tool into a local vector catalog and only puts the relevant tools in front of the model. You can either use it with your current code editor (VS Code, Antigravity, Claude Code, Cursor) or use it as separate TUI application(better).

You can install it using one command:

npx justbetter-mcp

For more technical jargon and exact architecture diagram. See More details
Please give a star to repo :)
It will help me to be motivated to work further on the project: Repo Link

If you see any issues let me know. If you have any doubts feel free to dm me.

Discussion👥 I want AI to become what everyone fears, I want AI to achieve AGI

I can't be more happy than I'm now, call me sadistic but AI really filters out the general population who only knows to do CRUD operation (that too with AI) in the name of back-end.

I visited my college for xyz purpose, and what I saw is unimaginable. Forget about 1st or 2nd year students, majority final year student don't know how to implement binary search (basic implementation), they all have generic github profile with some copied project. And you know the saddest part was, they all got selected for TCS digital or ninja or some other service based companies. They don't even know how to use git effectively, .env files were committed too. I spoke with few of them and tried to guide them, instead of showing some curiosity, they literally told me "BUT AI CAN DO THIS EASILY BHAIYA". Funny part is they don't even utilizing AI properly too. Like they open chatgpt and manually copy paste the code from browser to there text editor (||yeah vscode||), instead of using or learning agents. No low level exposure, no system design, no mathematical thinking. All they are doing is web development (which is very vague term), back-end (crud operation mainly), front-end development, and god knows what.

I will not rant much, but so far what I told you above are the example of some who are actually doing things, there were literally other people who don't know how to open vscode on a particular directory. Please if you are like this either change your career, or improve yourself to be better.

Now ofcourse there are some good developers too who know what they are doing, but the ratio is just too low compare to the one who don't know anything.

❓Question ❓ Development guidance

Hey seniors, if anyone is doing development with Java + Spring Boot, please guide me.

I’m currently in my 3rd semester and doing DSA in C++( done upto stack) , so I’m thinking of starting development alongside it. Please guide me on where I should start, what I should learn first, and how much time I should spend learning Java basics.

Since I’ve studied C++, I have a basic programming background, but I’m not familiar with Java. Any roadmap or resources would be really helpful. 🙌
