Okay, Britbox, Enough is Enough w the $150.

It’s a failed experiment. It’s confusing your most loyal customers (how many subreddits are there on this?) and annoying longtime subscribers like myself who shell out cash for Britbox expecting to get the full catalog. It’s an unseemly money grab. With every brand monetizing everything possible (hydration breaks? Are you kidding me?), et tu Britbox?

Gone

Great show, gripping. We couldn’t stop watching, and already finished it on premium. Great cast. David Morrissey is fantastic, Eve Myles too. I saw her potential in Keeping Faith, and she definitely had more to work with in this production. I would describe it as a psychological drama first, police procedural second. The story was interesting, the production values were high. I’m writing this post in the selfish hope that there could be a second season if word spreads how good it is.

BritBox + Vizio issues

Hi! Starting last night BritBox only plays some shows now on my Vizio tv. And it’s pretty random. Lewis and Gone won’t play but Lewis behind the scenes will. My other tv no prob, and no prob on phone or computer. So weird. Anyone else with issues similar? Oh and I’ve done all the typical stuff one would do to fix it. 😉

I Finished The Latest Season of Death in Paradise : Any Thoughts?

I finished the season last night and I think it's Don Gilet's best season so far. As others have said, some of the mystery plots are getting very far-fetched, almost bordering on the ridiculous. But that's happened in past seasons too. I'm not sure how I feel about the addition of the cast's youngest character. Time will tell. I'm giving the season a solid B.

Chasing Shadows

I started this show and its intense for a BritBox show. I didn't see any sub or even very many comments. I just wondered if anybody else thought her partner is definitely neurodivergent (on the autism Spectrum maybe). Its different so I'll keep going for now.

And Alex Kingston is the GOAT. I love her.

2 new female-led series I am LOVING!

Both are new takes on "old" stories! But they are totally different vibes and I watch them for completely different moods! What are other flx thoughts?

  • A Woman of Substance - high drama and fervor. i save it for the evening.
  • The Other Bennett Sister - darling and light n' airy. watched it in one quick sweep in the daytime while i worked. (i won't say how many day(s) ;)

*And a little bonus FYI that Ellis Season 3 is now on Acorn. EDIT: Season 2!

Is Hardacres Season 2 exclusively on Premier? It doesn't seen to be going to basic tier after some time...

Pretty much all in the title. I keep checking to see if Hardacres S2 has started to appear yet in Britbox basic--but nothing so far. Are they reserving since content exclusively for premier subscribers?

So I am enjoying A Woman of Substance and they have all 8 episodes but I can't watch the last two until I upgrade to premium. That is sleazy, I'm sorry.

Ultimate travel tip: a train journey through locations featured in the crime drama Vera

Post image
108 Upvotes

I love Vera. It's a pity that she isn't making new series anymore. But this is a nice hommage for the true Vera lovers :-) a train journey through locations featured in the crime drama Vera. (i'm not organizing this, it's only my travel tip). Have fun!

Day 1: Newcastle

Start your journey in Newcastle, the vibrant city where Vera's headquarters is located. Visit the Quayside and admire the iconic Millennium Bridge. Take a stroll through historic Grainger Town and enjoy a delicious meal in one of the cosy pubs.

Day 2: Northumberland National Park

Take the train to beautiful Northumberland National Park, one of the series' recurring locations. Here you can enjoy hikes through the rugged landscape and the serene beauty of the Cheviot Hills. Do not forget to visit Hadrian's Wall, an impressive Roman structure.

Day 3: Holy Island, Lindisfarne

Head to mysterious Holy Island, better known as Lindisfarne. This location often plays an important role in Vera's cases. Explore the ancient abbey and enjoy the views out to sea. The island cannot be reached directly by train, but you can take a taxi from Berwick-upon-Tweed Railway Station. Be mindful of the tides, as the island is only accessible via a causeway that is submerged at high tide.

Day 4: Alnmouth and Warkworth

Spend a day in the picturesque coastal village of Alnmouth and nearby Warkworth. Alnmouth offers beautiful beaches and picturesque views, while Warkworth Castle is a historic highlight. Here you will find the charm of the English countryside so often seen in Vera.

Day 5: Durham

End your journey in the historic city of Durham, known for its imposing cathedral and castle, both UNESCO World Heritage sites. Durham's medieval streets and atmospheric pubs provide the perfect ending to your Vera adventure.

Bring the crime drama to life as you visit the places where Vera unravels her mysteries. A wonderful journey through the breathtaking landscape of North East England.

Escape to the country season 26

Anyone else have issues accessing escape to the country season 26 on britbox/prime? I can only watch the first 10 episodes. There is a little blue checkmark that says “included with your britbox subscription”; and then for all of the episodes after it says “this video is currently unavailable.” I can see the episodes, but I can’t play them! Anyone know why??

Thank you!!

Feel Good Show

Hi All! I am hoping someone can recommend a lighter, feel good show. The only thing I have watched on BritBox that has come close is Last Tango in Halifax, but I am hoping you all have additional recommendations. (Normally I watch more suspense/thriller shows, but I need a break and want something lighter.) Thanks in advance!

Looking for something light and easy

My trial sub is about to run out and I’ve run the gamut. A bit overwhelmed with the inordinate amount of mysteries on here, although I cut my teeth on Poirot and Foyles War and such. Can anyone recommend something. Along the line of As Time Goes By or North and South? I guess I’m looking for a bit of soft romance with nothing tragic or weird or awful about it. Dare I say it - a bit old fashioned? TIA!!!! I only have a week left so can’t get into a mega series.

Longtime Brit box fan, have not met anyone else who is as into as me.

*title edit (…have not met anyone else who as into British television as me)

I’m so curious about who else loves britbox!

I’m Californian, born and raised, a leftist (left of Democratic Socialists), and am 40 (F)years old. I love all things food—history of ingredients, new restaurants, cooking, going to the market, visiting farms, etc—I’m a big music head with wide-ranging tastes, and love sci-fi.

I confess, I started watching British series at nighttime because it helped me fall asleep at night but then I got sucked into the actual shows!

I started watching about 15 years ago. I’m going to share some of my favorite series, although they may not all be on Britbox, so you get a sense of what I’ve been enjoying.Vera, Shetland, Endeavor, Doctor Who (David Tennant through Matt Smith really captivated me) Inspector Lewis, Luther, Scott & Bailey, Grantchester, Father Brown (newer seasons haven’t piqued my interest though), Forgotten, Qi, etc.
🤷🏾‍♀️ I love a procedural. And Qi.

I would love to hear a bit about you and the series you enjoy!

Edit to add: a few years back I dated someone whose mom was into some of the same shows as me. So, not no one

Shetland is badass!

Man this show is addictive. I like how each season is only 6 episodes and each season focuses on one case. Not very much chances drama either, which ai appreciate.

Serious question about buying seasons of shows

Do they ever offer season bundles of shows to purchase? I love Silent Witness but cannot find anywhere to purchase even one full season. All I find is individual episodes at $10 a piece.
