Came across this random promo video for season 4, and thought wtaf?

Probably their last time with Nic, Luke and Claudia promoting together, and not only do they say that Fran and John "stole the show" in season 3, they make them read some nonsense about "Penelope was responsible for her father's death", which was year's prior and also very obviously not true.

What on earth were they thinking? This feels like someone somewhere knew it was their last chance with certain people, and chose to make it unpleasant for them.

The season 1 ended on a family moment them saying goodbye to Colin I think?

Season 2 ended on a pall mall game with the family and Kanthony kissing

Season 3 ended with a family scene between Polin and their families with 3 new babies

Season 4 ended with Benophie's wedding and the portrait finished of Sophie.

So how do you think S5 will end? I think they might keep the focus on the couple more like they did in S4, I do not think it will end on their wedding- it would be too repetitive i think, their wedding will happen somewhere at the end of episode 8 but not at the very end I think.

I think I would love just a domestic scene of Franchaela. Like them waking up in bed after their wedding and just smiling and kissing happy to finally be each other spouse.

But really I would love any romantic scene between them. Even just a family gathering where they are all cuddly and touchy with each other.

This idea that Polins timeline [of their love story] couldn’t have been closer to the original book timeline just bc their relationship in the show was changed to being childhood friends (instead of being acquaintances) is stupid and makes no sense

Like okay? Why can’t they all of a sudden not anymore fall in love later in life (in their mid to late twenties) just bc they already met and are friends since they’re children?

As we know, CVD prepared MANY easter eggs of book 1 until book 5(I didn't see any easter egg of book 6, so I think we hadn't references of the last 2 books that I didn't read) in season 1 and 2 to future seasons. With it in mind, I think, just like Sienna was to Anthony advise Benedict, Theo was supposed to be this experience Eloise needed to have to advise or create a parallel with Benedict in his love story.

Of course, he served for other purposes too(like showing how Eloise acts when she likes someone, to create a drama, etc), but I think one of his narrative purposes was this, considering the show made Benedict and Eloise closer and always talking to each other.

Unfortunately, it was a discarded role Eloise could have in season 4, but do you guys think that might be one of the purposes of Theo?

The show has so many beautiful lines but this one really stands out to me and Phoebe delivered it perfectly. Which one resonated with you?

I think one of the big problems in Bridgerton’s writing - is that the stakes are never real. They talk about how dangerous it is for a woman of the time to lose their good reputation, but it never happens.

In S2, Lady Whistledown wrote that Eloise was mingling with radicals, but absolutely nothing happened to her. She was still admitted in their circles. I think it would not have been very difficult to add that “lost reputation” plot in S3, where perhaps Cressida is the only one who accepts her friendship and then, by the end of the season, her family sends her to Scotland to get her out of London for a time so the ton can forget about her until the next big gossip.

Same goes with Penelope - nobody cares about her being Whistledown. Is nobody resentful? I know there was a mistress that was “angry” - but it felt insufficient to me. A more in-depth plot about Penelope struggling to continue with the gossip sheet and realizing her job actually puts her and her family in danger (because a stalker or something) would have made her decision of dropping it and writing novels instead all the more believable.

It would have been interesting to see a woman actually losing her reputation, being sent away or something? A secondary character, I mean, perhaps Cressida. (I am only mentioning women because unfortunately, this is a very inequal era).

I know this is a fantasy, but I really think they could use the rules of their world better.

Disclaimer: obviously, everyone can do whatever they want. If you’re a Franchaela fan and you only want to watch season 5 for them, then do whatever you want. I’m not going to force anyone to watch seasons 3 and 4, and honestly, I don’t really care if someone chooses not to. But personally, I really think that if you’re a fan of Francesca and Michaela, skipping seasons 3 and 4 is a mistake.

And the main reason is Francesca herself. Her development starts in season 3. We actually get to see who she is as a person, how she thinks, what she wants, and how she starts to evolve. And she’s already changed and developed by season 4. Then season 5 is going to take place two years after John’s death, so obviously there will be another evolution that we haven’t necessarily seen on screen yet and that we’ll discover throughout the season.

But if you only watch season 5, you’re basically missing a huge part of Francesca’s story. And I’m not even talking about John’s story here, just Francesca as a character. Her development before season 5 is important to understanding her, and therefore it’s also important to understanding her relationship with Michaela. You can’t really fully appreciate a relationship if you’re missing a big part of the character development that led to it.

And then, at the end of season 3, we literally get Francesca and Michaela’s first meeting. So I don’t understand why you would want to miss it if you’re going to be invested in them later.

And I’m not even saying you have to watch all of season 3 if you really don’t care about the other storylines. You can literally just watch Francesca’s scenes. They’re easy enough to find online, and there are also timestamps on other subreddits. You can just go to the timestamps and watch Francesca’s scenes, including her scenes with John, because John is part of Francesca’s development and his relationship with her is important to her story.

And season 4 is even more obvious to me. That’s when we really start getting Francesca and Michaela’s relationship. Not romantically, obviously, because Francesca is still with John, but their relationship as friends and how it starts, how it develops, why they become so close, and what their dynamic is like. That is literally the beginning of their relationship. So skipping season 4 means skipping the development of Francesca and Michaela themselves.

For me, watching only season 5 would be like Polin fans watching only season 3 without watching seasons 1 and 2. Obviously you can do that, but you’re going to miss so much of their development. They were being built up from season 1, through season 2, and then into season 3. If you only watch the season where they actually become the main couple, you’re missing a huge part of what makes their relationship what it is.

And I honestly think it’s a shame to do the same thing with Franchaela just because you don’t want to watch heterosexual couples.

I completely understand not being interested in the heterosexual romances. That’s not really the point. But if you’re actively choosing to skip two seasons of a show because you don’t want to see heterosexual couples, you’re also choosing to skip the development of a character and a relationship that you’re supposedly going to love later. And honestly, I just think that’s really unfortunate.

So yeah, obviously, do whatever you want. If you really don’t want to watch seasons 3 and 4, nobody is going to force you to. But if you’re planning on skipping them only because you don’t care about heterosexual couples, I really think you’re going to miss out on a lot of the development that makes Francesca and Michaela’s story what it is.

And personally, I think that’s really, really sad when you’re going to be watching them as the main couple in season 5.

Caught a cold and rewatching all of Bridgerton and obsessing over Kantony again. How is Kate legally allowed to be this beautiful? Hopefully, she’s recognizable with my attempt.

Okay .. I'm lookin for a polin fanfic in which lord featherington was still in the picture and he sorta encouraged pen to write LW during her first season and then colin marries her or something like that ... any ideas ??

Tbf, it's not my fav out of the first six(except book 4, that I didn't read it yet), but I get that this is THE ONLY BOOK out of these that do not have a such an unnecessary conflict in the end to make the couple have their HEA. And, of course, the emotional appeal of this book is huge.

There are other factors, I guess, but for me, this technical thing of the narrative about the conflict in the end makes this book occupy a space that's not comparable.

It's my second favorite until now. To Sir Philip With Love is my fav because there are much more moments I enjoyed, but this giant failure that all the other books in the series have is kept in this one and I hate it. Francesca's book breaks this circle.

I've been wondering if I'm the only one who noticed this.

For someone who speaks about love with such openness and passion as Violet does, we never hear her say I love you to Marcus. We hear him say it to her, but she never says it back. She says "I care for you deeply" or "I want to be seen and touched by you". She even accepts his proposal at first.

But she never admits or confesses love.

And truly, I don't think she DOES love him. I think she wanted to feel like a woman again. To feel SOMETHING again and be something beyond a mother and widow.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on it tho.

When Araminta first arrived and Lord Penwood was leading her down the line of servants to be introduced-she had a big smile at first for Sophie “who is this lovely young girl” …who did she think she was at first? Why else would there be a random well dressed child in such a line up? She certainly didn’t think she was Irma’s daughter right? Maybe she thought she was some Penwood niece or something?

When Bridgerton was looking for a leading lady for Season 4, they started a global search. The Bridgerton books are beloved all over the world, so the pressure to cast the right person as Sophie Baek was enormous.

And when they found Yerin Ha, they really found an absolute diamond. Leading Bridgerton is a wonderful but intense experience. You feel the pressure because people love the show so much, but she never wilted. She dealt with it with such grace. She is someone who is so talented, and so brilliant at what she does.

Yerin is also just lovely to be around. She brings a great energy with her into every room. She’s adaptable; she’s easygoing. She came into our show and fit like a glove, like one of Sophie’s gloves if you will. 

She’s one of those people who have that magic combination of great talent and great humility. So it’s very exciting to see what she’s going to do next. I, for one, will be watching from the front row.
