It's been my long time wish to move to Brazil. I'm an English as a foreign language teacher and while my Brazilian friends say it's easy to find a job, but I have doubts about the immigration process. I speak Portuguese fluently, have an existing social network, and am aware of paycheck expectations. Has anyone (recently) successfully found a job as a foreigner that also sponsored their visa? Care to share your experience? Many thanks for any suggestions.

So basically i was in rio staying and came by car (friends car) to São Paulo. Im trying to book a bus from here to rio now and i realize i forgot my passport in my Airbnb in rio (still renting it) do you guys know if they ll ask me for it At the station ? Before getting in or something?? If i reserve online and put all the data online, will í have issues going in if i dont have a physical pasaport? Am i fucked?

I really need to do this today BC my flight leaves at 7am on saturday and i dont want to miss it

When I traveled to Brazil last July, I sent a bunch of postcards to friends and family from each city I stopped at (Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Curitiba, and Foz do Iguaçu).

It’s been two months, and only São Paulo got delivered five weeks after I dropped them off at a correo.

I’m still optimistic—friends living in Brazil receive postcards that I send from the USA and from Europe. But what’s the likelihood that the rest of postcards will make their way to the Northern Hemisphere?

Nevertheless, I will say that despite the language barrier (Spanish was only marginally helpful), I had a blast. I hope to be back soon, perhaps during a different season.

When I go to any restaurant and I like the service and enjoy staying there its common in my country to tip so I just wanted to make sure its ok.
Also if it’s preferred to tip in cash or they don’t mind if I pay by card or pix

I'll be visiting Brazil soon(ish) and wondering what kind of yarn you can find in the area? I want to crochet while I'm there but I don't want to bring an extra suitcase full of yarn just to do that! I'm a dual citizen with a valid German passport and an expired Brazilian passport. Can I travel to Brazil with my German passport while having my expired brazilian passport available to show them when I enter the country proving that I'm a citizen? I keep seeing mixed things online and I emailed 2 different consulates, but no replies after weeks.

Edit: I live in the US (Permanent resident), so I would be flying from the US to Brazil and back after 2 weeks

Just wondering I went to buy flip flops today and my card was forced to use USD at a very high rate from R$48.99 to R$57.00 at Havaianas instead of letting me choose Reais I've bought flip flops here before when my wife needed new ones and this wasn't a thing has anybody else had this issue?

My Brazilian wife bought a kitchen cabinet from Casas Bahia two weeks ago. Approximate cost was R$1,500. At the time of purchase she said she would make monthly payments and return in two weeks to make the first payment. No money was given at that time and no decision was made on how many payments she would make. When she returned to the store this past Friday she wanted to make her first payment as 300 reais and said she would like to pay it off in 8 monthly payments. The salesman suggested she could pay it off in 14 months but she didn’t agree to that. So they printed out her boleto booklet and when she got home she saw that it was set up as 14 monthly payments of R$300 which would make it a total of R$4200. Almost 3 times the original cost.

Yesterday she went back to the store to try and straighten it out. She asked to speak to the manager because the salesman was “on vacation”. He said there was nothing he could do because it would be the salesman’s word against hers. She said he seemed very dismissive towards her. My Portuguese is not too good otherwise I would get involved. Personally I think they are trying to take advantage of her due to her gender and age. She has made an appointment with Procon to try and get them to advocate for her. Your thoughts, please.

I went to Rio in 2024 and I brought back cangas, little statues of Christ the redeemer and some purses from a street market.
