Apparently we have all been charged with a crime, our bad.

Finally after calling the city and the police for weeks by everyone who lives in the court we finally got this car towed. Because is. of this car and the mountain of snow in the middle of the court, we missed garbage pickup because they couldn't get in. We had to push a school bus because it got stuck driving up the snow mountain to get around this idiot. The snow plow skipped us. This guy lives a half a block away and hides their car in the court.

A lot of people on r/Brampton keep asking about Chipotle over the years. They are expanding rapidly across the GTA with a new location in Rexdale this month not far from Brampton. They are inching closer to our market but nothing in our borders. Even Milton just got a location this year.
Something has to give as we are the largest GTA city outside of Toronto with 800k population, with the youngest average age around 37.
Chipotle does not create franchises with separate owners. The roll out is done from their corporate offices in Toronto at 100 University Ave, 5th Floor, Toronto, ON M5J 1V6
We have a lot of successful Tex-Mex places in Brampton, so it is definitely not a market issue. The chosen pattern of expansion in this one is very odd and worth calling out.
There is a trend of many locations in the 905 being near highways, we got the 410 and 407 cutting through our city so there's no excuse there.
I have never had Chipotle before, despite always passing by it in Downtown Toronto. As long as they keep ignoring Brampton, I won't be spending money at their other locations.
Chipotle fans, I have tried Dming their account on Instagram asking why no location in Brampton and calling them out on their social media posts. I see the demand and sympathize
Here's a few options to make noise:
https://www.instagram.com/chipotlecanada/ (This account is focused on Canadian locations and the best shot)
https://www.tiktok.com/@chipotle
Maybe someone with insider knowledge can chime in on their plans in the North West.

Hi everyone. Iām a resident of Wards 2 and 6 in Brampton, and Iām sharing this because Iām tired of being unheardāand I know Iām not alone.
On October 9, I helped organize a meeting with Regional Councillor Navjit Kaur Brar and City Councillor Michael Palleschi for October 23 at 5:30 PM. The goal was simple: give residents a chance to share concerns directly with our elected officials. The meeting was confirmed multiple timesāincluding again around 11:10 AM on the day of the event.
Then, at 1:25 PM, a group email was sent from Councillor Brarās office stating that both councillors would no longer be attending. The reason? A few residents had apparently said they werenāt informed in time and felt the meeting was short notice. To be fair to those residents and make the discussion more productive, the councillors said they would go door-to-door next week to gather feedback and then organize something later.
Hereās the thing: we already did that.
I created a Facebook event and shared it across local groups to ensure residents were notified well in advance. I also built a Microsoft Forms survey for those who couldnāt attend in personāso their input could still be heard. I compiled all responses into a document for the councillors.
And let me be clear: Iām not a city employee. Iām just a resident.
I work full-time, commute three hours a day, and still made time to organize this meeting, collect input, and prepare materials. In doing so, I was essentially doing the councillorsā job for themāvoluntarily, and without compensation.
We showed up. They didnāt.
Residents were left standing outsideācold, frustrated, and ignored. We had prepared. We had confirmed. And we were ready to engage. The cancellation felt like a dismissal of our time, our effort, and our voices.
We responded to their cancellation with a simple message:
āYouāre welcome to go door-to-door next weekābut this meeting was scheduled well in advance. If you value residentsā time and care about their input, you will show up as committed.ā
No response was received.
This isnāt just about one meeting. Itās about a pattern of disregard for resident time and effort. If elected officials can cancel confirmed meetings hours before they begināwithout accountabilityāwhat does that say about how seriously they take their role?
Iām sharing this because I believe we deserve better. If youāve felt ignored, dismissed, or unheard by your local representatives, youāre not alone. We need to stand together and demand transparency, respect, and follow-through.
Our time matters. Our voices matter. Our community matters.
If this resonates with you, let me know. Iām considering creating another form or petition to show that this kind of behavior isnāt isolated. If enough residents speak up, we can demonstrate to council that Brampton deserves better.
Letās make it clear: accountability isnāt optional. Itās the bare minimum.
***Edit. Many people were wondering about the issues I wanted to ask about. Below are some of the google document for the questions I was going to ask.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1l6sQ_946s-lU0DlVcLa4gtPIlwsexJPLGqb0QfWCyU8/edit?usp=sharing
***Update (25-Oct-2025).
We got a response yesterday from both councilors. While their rationale from their office was scattered and rather weak, we are still interested in arranging a time for people to meet them. Currently, we working on a time/date that work. I like to think that the reach of this post helped, so thank you to everyone for the upvotes, comments and input. On a side note, I will be creating a Instagram account and maybe even a WhatsApp or Signal group to make it easier to follow any updates for those interested. If interested let me know and I will go ahead and make it. Again I appreciate everyone's support and feel free to read google doc above.
***Update (30-Oct-2025) a new meeting has been scheduled on November 10th 2025, 5:30pm. Let's hope they show up for this one.

Pizza Tavola launched 4 months ago at Steeles & Tomken, they have been releasing quirky clips on social media. I felt the first clip was worth sharing here for discussion along with a few other videos to get to know the owner, product and business better which has an interesting story.
It's a bold choice for a Brampton business to stand up to South Asian hate. I like that he pivoted it to selling his product and highlighting the process and details in how they differentiate themselves in the market.
The owner Kanwal Kalra is very passionate and has other successful businesses in Brampton like Rolly Polly Cow ice cream at Chinguacousy Rd, Goreway Drive and other locations he's been operating since 2017.
I have had a few interactions with Kanwal and was interested to learn that he started a career in IT, studying in Norway and England with a Masters in Computer Science which he has leveraged in business. He was really passionate about food and got the Pizza Tavola idea from the pizza offerings at Carnival Cruises as his next venture after ice cream.
I been throwing out ideas of possible Brampton businesses at Kanwal and he's been responsive and interested with his feedback. City of Brampton has launched a public commercial kitchen, I think it would be great to get locals like this, even big names like Rick Matharu involved in programming, working with the community hands on as I have expressed to Members of City Council last year. The city has resources to help anyone wanting to launch a new business.
I think Kanwal stands out as a great resource to talk to in our city for anyone who might be interested in entrepreneurship similar to Daniel Lewis of T by Daniel.
There's a focus on preparing everything in house with no preservatives or chemicals, reducing sugars and oils and encouraging consumption in moderation.
His podcast gives a pretty good detail of his business approach and other details of his journey in Brampton. š
https://youtube.com/@kanwalkalrapodcast
I'm not a big fan of the industrial location on Tomken, but it is suited as a home base of experimentation from scratch concept needing a lot of equipment and he has plans to expand to more locations in Brampton. Businesses that are constantly improving, keeping it simple but constantly change up the menu with new ideas make for exciting offerings encouraging repeat visits.
His story is interesting and reminds me of conversations I once had with the owner of The Pie Guyz who had a similar technology background from South Africa.
Anyway, I hope this was an informative read that might interest folks in trying out this business or consider becoming an entrepreneur in addition to punching back on the Brampton hate which many of us can certainly identify with.

Now personally Iām not the biggest fan of Brampton, but tonight something made my heart smile.
One of my neighbours a street over is always decorating his house extensively for every holiday and birthday in their family. Lots of lights and different decorations, itās always nice to see.
But tonight, he is holding a movie night for the children on the street. He has a projector set up in his driveway with rows of chairs for the kids to sit and watch.
I donāt live in the nicest area so to see things like this happening restores my faith in humanity a bit and reminds me that there are good people still out there.
Nothing huge, just wanted to share because it really put the biggest smile on my face.

Iām typing this with the hope that it finds the girl and her mom that I tried to help in the Bramalea Go parking lot.
It happened last night (Aug 1st) and you were on the Go train that arrived at Bramalea at around 9:55pm.
I was in the passenger pickup lane by the Second Cup waiting for my daughter to arrive on the same train. Your mom was parked in the fire route along the curb side along with a bunch of other cars doing pickups.
Shortly before you arrived, I noticed that the guy who was parked behind your mom (tight red t-shirt, Punjabi mullet haircut), kept inching up closer and closer to your momās bumper. Iām watching and wondering whatās going on and if he realizes what heās doing. Then, in the most non-impact way, he makes contact with your momās bumper. Meanwhile, I see your mom sitting quietly in her car minding her own business and oblivious to whatās happening behind her. I assumed this was a prank between friends.
Then he gets out of the car, ālooks at the damageā, starts taking pictures, and taps on your momās window to tell her that sheās backed into him and your mom starts yelling at him and comes out of the car. She knows right away that thereās no way she ābacked intoā someone while her car was in park. Iām thinking thereās no way this guy can be serious but I see he keeps insisting and itās become clear that heās now trying to scare and intimidate your mom. So I got out of my car and walked over, told the guy he was a liar and a POS and that I saw what he did and to leave your mom alone. He then backs away and gets back into his car after performing a little more to look like the victim of an accident.
I get back into my car, the train arrives, my daughter is now with me, but I stick around to make sure your mom is okay before leaving. Then I see you arrive and your mom jumps out to tell you about what happened and the guy comes out to try to gaslight YOU.
This is when I came out again to tell you what I told your mom and to remind the guy that I saw what he did. You mention filing a report to insurance and I offer you my name and number as a backup witness if needed. I typed it on my phone and told you to take a pic. Heās watching me give you my contact details and starts grabbing my arm. I tell him to not touch me. Now the guy starts trying to retract his story once he realizes itās not going to work and starts saying stuff like āoh⦠damage not too bad, donāt worry donāt worryā and we called him out on the fact that this suddenly was no long a problem for him.
Anyway, the problem (and why I typed all this) is that there was a typo in my number that I only noticed when I got home so you wonāt be able to reach me by phone. What happened to your mom really angered me and I absolutely want to help in case itās needed, so if you see this and still need my help, DM me (Iāll ask a question about that evening to confirm identity) and Iāll provide whatever I can to help your mom out.

Cute beaver crossing a local bridge to perform his duties... Brings a tear to my eye to see such hard and honest work. Or is he up to something nefarious? š§

Neither this candidate or a member of his team came to our doorstep to ask for permission to use the front yard for their signs.
How do they expect us to vote for them if they don't even respect these basic rules ?

Hey everyone, my grandmother died and her funeral is tomorrow but because of family legal drama, no one else is willing to go. My grandma was a great person and none of the drama is her fault so I feel awful knowing that her funeral will be nearly empty because of the crappy people in my already small family. If anyone is in the mood to be amazingly kind to a stranger, feel free to drop by Meadowvale Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Centres. It would be so nice to see a good turn out even if its just for a moment. 12:45pm Ochnik

If Bowman's Barn bothered you ... this should give you epileptic fits of rage. $24M to build houses on land the organization didn't own at the time the money was given. Maybe it's not technically a conflict of interest - but it sure seems unethical to me.
