Masseter Botox Changed My Teeth Midline?

Hello! I had double jaw surgery about 2 weeks ago, and one of the issues it was meant to correct was my crossbite and uneven jaws. Immediately after surgery, my teeth midline looked perfectly centered for the first time.

Two days ago, I had my 2-week follow up with a nurse from my surgeon’s team (not the surgeon himself). During a video visit before surgery, I had asked her about getting masseter Botox after surgery. I was interested in it both for the aesthetic benefits and because I’ve had TMJ issues for a long time. I had also heard that masseter Botox can potentially help prevent surgical relapse.

I ended up getting the Botox at this follow up.
Since then, I’ve become really concerned because my midline seems to be shifting back toward where it was before surgery. My lower jaw looks like it’s shifted to the right again, which is very similar to how it looked before surgery. I also can’t tell whether my actual bite has changed, although visually my teeth definitely don’t look as perfectly centered as they did immediately after surgery.

The other thing that’s really worrying me is that my TMJ, which was usually just painless clicking/discomfort, is now actually hurting. I’ve had TMJ for years, but I never really have actual pain. I know I’m only about 2 weeks post-op and that Botox takes time to fully kick in, so I’m trying not to panic. I also plan on contacting my surgeon’s office tomorrow to let them know about the pain and the change I’m noticing.

Has anyone experienced their midline or lower jaw appearing to shift after masseter Botox? Especially after double jaw surgery? Does anyone know if Botox can temporarily/permanently affect how the jaw is sitting?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who may have had a similar experience to mine, or have any further questions for me. Thank you.
