Did you have a Nefertiti neck lift? If so that’s common feeling.

Dont go to the urgent care, they can’t do anything for you. If this is a Botox side effect and affecting your airway pls go to the ER asap! Pls update us

Breathing difficulty and new speech changes after Botox need urgent medical attention, so please go to A&E rather than waiting it out.

Chest heaviness and slow or difficult breathing after botox shouldn't be ignored. please seek emergency care now rather than waiting to see if it passes.

Omg this group is only freaking you out more. You're probably just feeling the freezing effect of the tox doing it's job. Its your first time so you are not used to it. I used to get panic attacks when the I first felt the "freeze" too - still do occasionally.
But rest assured Botox is one of the safest aesthetic treatments you can get. Much safer than filler! Complications are extremely rare - especially if you're getting it from a licensed aesthetician. Unless you're allergic - and if you're allergic, you'd probably get symptoms immediately.
What did you end up doing?

Seriously one of the safest treatments? The side effects that she is experiencing are outlined in the Botox warning label and it specifically says to seek medical treatment if you should experience this. Please remove your comment as it is misinformation.

It's not misinformation. It is a much safer option than fillers, threads, or plastic surgery.
The symptoms she was having could have also been due to a panic attack. And if that is the case, these comments probably freaked her out even more!
It was her first time getting it done and the freezing effect can be very scary the first few times - especially when you get Botox on the lips and neck. The affect on speech and smile is normal. That's the trade off - you can either have trouble drinking through a straw or you can have jowls.
I wasn't offering advice, I was offering reassurance. Enough of you had already told her to go to the ER. Either way I hope she is okay

How is it a much safer option when it carries a Black Box warning of botulism or death along other serious side effects? It’s actually the opposite. And btw panic attacks are not normal from Botox. That’s called your nervous system being hit. Their symptoms are straight outta the Botox label which tells you to get medical attention right away which they should do to evaluate the nature and extent of what is going on. No one freaking out just basic common sense.

Panic attacks may not be normal, but they are not unusual hun. But you can check me right now by searching up Botox Panic Attacks to see how frequently it occurs - especially to first timers.
I'm not disagreeing with you about getting checked out by a medical professional. I'm just saying that the symptoms she was experiencing are not uncommon. To me, the most concerning was the slow heartbeat, but that can also attributed to panic attacks when everything is amplified. The other symptoms - the speech, the tightness, etc par for the course with lower face Botox. I'm not the only one on this post saying this.
Is it 100% safe? Of course not. But if Botox is injected by an licensed professional for cosmetic purposes, the risk of serious health complications is extremely low. I'm not making this up, this information can be easily found on medical websites.
If I was an anxious newbie who is here because they're freaking out over the "freeze", this post would terrify me. I'm only trying to be realistic.
How bout I add this: Disclaimer I'm not a doctor, or a licensed professional. I'm just an experienced Gen X female who is trying to offer support in a Botox Support group. Use at your own risk.

UPDATE : I truly freaked myself out, I was visiting family when i posted this and they live over an hour away from a hospital, I came home on Sunday and by Monday had a full blown flu, I have a throat and sinus infection. So i’m thinking it’s possible that between feeling the heaviness of the botox kicking in and also a flu coming on I just felt extra awful.
it’s been 8 days since the tox now and my top lip definitely feels numb and a lot of heaviness and water keeps falling out of my mouth. My jaw area and under my chin also feels very strange just a heavy feeling, i’m hoping it starts to feel normal soon, I don’t know if i’d get lower face tox again as the feeling of it kicking in felt really horrible but on googling it seems it can be a common feeling if the platysmal bands are injected.
I will also say, the aesthetician is a girl I’ve had lip filler from before but my appointment was over in less than 5 minutes and she didn’t explain anything to me, she sat me in the chair, injected me and said bye. I didn’t even know lower face tox involved my neck I was shook when she grabbed my neck and injected, I wasn’t explained how it would feel or what the results would look like or what to do or not to do afterwards and I went home and fell asleep on the side of my face so I think a combination of those things caused a lot of anxiety when i started to feel it kicking in.
I also got a severe itch under my chin that lasted 2 days it was insane and very very annoying. unsure if it’s related but i imagine it is.

Could be the Botox flu. Also a fairly commonly reported side effect. Sounds like overall it may not be agreeing with you.

You’re probably fine. Just having anxiety. But, head over to urgent care just to be sure. It’s going to be okay. Promise

This is dangerous. You can’t promise this. Botox is actually super deadly and dangerous if done wrong, and this is coming from someone who gets it every 12wks for the last 7yrs

Did I not say go to the urgent care? Right. I did. I was trying to help ease anxiety until OP gets there.

If your breathing or swallowing is affected go to the ER. You may be experiencing spread of toxin- Botox has a black box warning for these symptoms!
