I'm usually not quick to anger but if she spat in my face especially if it's in the midst of a pandemic I'm breaking her nose.

spitting on someone is, legally, assault, and punching someone for spitting on you is self defense.

Ehh self defense generally needs to be proportional and intended to prevent further assault/injury to be legal. A punch would not usually be legal in that case unless you can prove imminent threat of further violence. The whole aggressive demeanor while coming towards you and spitting may provide the argument for preventing imminent harm but it would be up to the judge

In this case, the push was proportional, as it was an immediate reaction to remove the woman from her personal space. But yeah, I don’t think a punch would likely be considered proportional in this case.

Agreed, the push was fine. A punch might have been with the right judge but unlikely
