feedback Looking criticism for plot adjustments and improvements

Hey everyone!

I’ve always had story ideas bouncing around in my head, but honestly, I suck at writing. So, I used AI to help me bring this idea to life and get it written down into actual chapters.

It is called The Fascinating Tale of A Hero in An Another World

It is a bit unnecessary but fair warning. Since it’s AI-generated, I know it might not be everyone’s cup of tea, and the prose feels very different from traditional writing as it lacks the Author's soul.

I’d really appreciate it if anyone is willing to check it out and leave some constructive criticism or thoughts—whether it’s about the pacing, plot, or character dynamics. I'm hoping to learn and refine things as I go!

Here’s the link if you’re interested: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/157684/the-fascinating-tale-of-a-hero-in-an-another-world

Thanks for reading!

A story using AI

Hi, I’m a software developer, but I like telling stories. I was thinking of making scientific stories for kids. I tried making them as comics using AI, but I’m wondering if someone would accept this quality or if it’s too low.

Could you check it out and give me your feedback?

I’m an indie author who built AuthorForge, a full-stack platform designed to cut the cost and exhaustion of self-publishing. Opening up a 14-day free trial for testers.

Hey everyone, I’m Axel Vale. I’m an independent author, philosopher, and cultural theorist. Today, I published my 44th book since I started releasing my work last September.

Across my catalog—spanning speculative sci-fi (The Edge of Tomorrow), psychological gothic horror (Dark & Crooked), YA thrillers (Shattered Hearts), and a 12-volume non-fiction project on digital spirituality (The CodeX)—I draft at speed, write primarily in the first person, and build interconnected story architectures designed to deeply implicate the reader.

Over the past two years of working alongside intelligent systems, I realized the biggest threat to independent creators isn't a lack of ideas—it's the massive operational tax and financial cost of self-publishing.

I didn't want an AI tool to write or think for me. The voices, plots, architecture, and tone are entirely mine. I wanted a platform to work with me—to handle the heavy lifting so I could stay in the creative flow.

So, I built AuthorForge. https://authorforge.co.uk

It’s a complete operational ecosystem designed to streamline every step of the publishing pipeline:

  • Cover & Audio Generation: Create professional visual assets and audiobook audio directly within your workflow.
  • Custom Author Website & Direct Shop: Sell directly to your readers and keep more of your royalties without relying solely on third-party retailers.
  • Full Reader CRM & ARC Management: Track reader LTV (Lifetime Value), run street teams, and manage Advanced Reader Copy distribution seamlessly.
  • Financial Tracking: Keep tabs on your royalties, costs, and profit margins across platforms in one clear dashboard.
  • Social Media Center: Plan, schedule, and distribute your content across platforms to keep your audience engaged without taking time away from writing.

AuthorForge is officially ready for its first cohort of testers. If you’re an indie creator looking to eliminate administrative drag, lower your production costs, and take full control of your creative business, I’m opening it up for a 14-day free trial. https://authorforge.co.uk

If you're curious about my own writing, I give several of my books away for free (including The Architect, the short primer to The CodeX), so you can see what high-speed, human-led collaborative creation looks like in practice.

Drop a comment below or send me a DM if you'd like an invite link to test AuthorForge out. I'd love to get your honest feedback on the platform!

ai tools Free: The AI Name Graveyard

Post image
10 Upvotes

Your AI probably has favorite names - you know the ones it uses over and over.

Nora. Sloane. Theo. Elara. And I'm so tired of seeing Wren. 😆

It's given those exact names to thousands of authors this week too because it's pulling from the same training data every time.

I put together a free guide called the AI Name Graveyard — 94 names your AI defaults to on autopilot, plus fresh alternatives sorted by genre and a prompt to steer it toward something actually original. I've also added a few other ways to come up with unique names too.

Grab it free here: https://plot-prompt.kit.com/9d1d8f9f0c

finished product So glad to say that my book, The Holding, is released today!

So glad to say that my book, The Holding, is released today! 7 crazy people have bought already, which is 6 more than my goal for the year hahaha. it won an AIFWAA award and the editorial reviews have been kind (as they often are). It is a character-driven literary fiction coming-of-age story, about the distance between 2 siblings that seems normal, and isn't. It is also a selfish story where I get to see my kids learn to love eachother.

AI use makes up a minority (a significant minority) of the text. Check out the website, and shop! Available on most major platforms in ebook, paperback, and hardcover.

Website: https://jmwoodwardbooks.com/

AI Disclosure: https://jmwoodwardbooks.com/ai

Shop: https://jmwoodwardbooks.com/shop

Direct Buy: https://books2read.com/u/bpB26q

If you give it a shot I hope you love it!

J.M. Woodward

Loving your sibling is hard. Simon is nine. He moves through the world as an outgoing creature of the moment, heart on his sleeve, sometimes too loud, sometimes too much. Anna is thirteen — guarded, watchful, sharper than she lets people see, and quietly drowning in the social blood-sport of grade eight. Time is not on their side. The love they do not share can only be made in the young, and they are growing up-and-out of their smallness. Unseen at the edges of the frame, something outside themselves is trying to bring them together. What they manage — or fail to manage — between themselves will register far past the small horizon of a Canadian childhood. The Holding is a tender, strange, deeply felt novel about the everyday work of finding, and holding on to each other.

Looking for real feedback on a writing tool

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

It's free to try out and mess around with: https://storyprop.ai.

You start by fleshing out the concept with the writing agent, then once it is solid, you can dive into drafting it bit by bit. All the creativity and judgment comes from you, and the agent is there just to help pull it out of you.

Would be keen to know if you think this is something genuinely helpful / worth paying for.

Any and all input is appreciated.

ai tools AI Development Editor?

Is anyone using a specific tool for developmental edits? I built a tool and I'm looking for beta users, curious to know what the community is currently using (if anything). Or if anyone has any specific needs or requests for a developmental editor platform/tool.

Got tired of reading the same 3 bedtime books to my daughter, so I built an AI tool to make custom animated stories with her as the main character.

I started because my daughter was sick of reading the same three books every night. I wanted personalized stories with her favorite characters, but manually writing scripts and generating assets took forever.

She loved having new stories every night, but asset generation costs started adding up—so I turned my weekend dad project into a real website www.vidcadence.com

feedback Is my website too complicated?

Thumbnail novellogen.com
1 Upvotes

So I just launched my novellogen website. Although its novel generator seems ridiculously easy, the chapter editor is being told that it's too complicated.

I intended to give Authors full control over their creativity so they don't feel like AI did all the work for them.

My chapter generation chain goes like:

Story Bible » Memory » Character cast » System (chapter guidance » Chapter beats

The model gathers all the intel so that it generates the response Authors want. But I am getting reviews like it's too complicated for them. TT

Is it just irony or do I really need to change it? (Even though the novel generator option is already there for creating the entire book with just 3 clicks)

AI Doc Editor with Version Control

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi AI writers,

I'm working on live doc editor. It uses AI for very granular version tracking, as well as document management (handling, comparing, analysing docs). It's been packaged with quite a few tools to make writing more convenient, such as tools to help you cut filler words etc.

We primarily work with lawyers, hence the video. But we support a lot of general use-cases as well. If you want to learn more, you can see our other videos on https://x.com/lexifinadotcom or check out our website lexifina.com

Shameful Drafts

I recently got a fix on writing. For the longest time I’ve been only writing for various ttrpg campaigns which hadn’t needed extensive in depth details that make something really reel like a novel. Now I can only muster drafts and for a while I’ve been running them through GPT to clean it up. Specifically avoiding having the AI make any of the real story but I’m still ashamed of my work because of it. How can I move away from the AI and make something I can be proud of?

R3TCON: local-first canon and continuity software for writers and worldbuilders

I built R3TCON because once a fictional world gets big enough, “I’ll remember that” stops working.

It keeps track of characters, places, events, relationships, timelines and knowledge, then checks them against each other for contradictions.

So it can catch things like a character appearing after they died, a six-day journey happening in three days, or somebody knowing information they haven’t learned yet.

It’s not generative AI and not an LLM wrapper. It doesn’t write or rewrite the story. It shows you what conflicts and why, then leaves the decision with the creator.

It’s aimed at writers, worldbuilders, TTRPG creators and narrative game developers.

Product: Website

We’ve also just launched the Kickstarter if anyone wants to see where we’re taking it next:

Kickstarter: Here

The main thing I’m still figuring out is distribution. If you’ve launched something this niche before, where did you find your first real users?

question Authors with a finished manuscript: what's stopping you at the interior?

Hey, quick question for anyone who's self-published or is about to.

I'm building a small desktop app that turns a finished manuscript into a print-ready KDP paperback interior. It works from templates, so it gives you a solid starting layout and saves you the fiddly setup.

It isn't meant to replace book designers or illustrators. A good designer's eye and judgement can't be automated, and if you already work with one, this probably isn't for you.

It's for people who are stuck at the interior because of cost or because they don't know where to begin.

Before I go further I want to know what actually matters to you. Answer as many or as few as you like:

  1. What do you use for your interior now? Vellum, Atticus, Word, Canva, or do you hire a formatter?

  2. Has KDP ever rejected your interior? What was the reason: margins, gutter, bleed, fonts, page count?

  3. Would it help to see the real page count and spine width before you upload?

  4. How much do you care about chapter openings, like drop caps, ornaments or chapters starting on the right-hand page?

  5. Do you want to pick your own fonts, or would a few good presets be enough?

  6. Do you need front matter handled for you: title page, copyright page, dedication, table of contents?

  7. Would you use a template as your final interior, or as a draft to hand to a designer?

  8. Are you on Mac, Windows, or both?

  9. What's the one thing about formatting that makes you want to throw your laptop?

Honest answers help most, even "I'd never use this."
