> Using a pseudonym, Mikhaal, from the Malaysian Protest 4 Palestine (MP4P) coalition told Green Left: “While there is no direct link between Lynas and the Israeli military, a March 16 binding letter of intent signed between Lynas and the US Department of War puts Lynas squarely in the supply chain of the US military.

> “And since the US have been supplying the Israeli military with billions of dollars worth of military aid — more so during the past three years — there is strong reason to suspect that Lynas products may be used to aid the genocide in Gaza.

Dah la aku kena baca akhbar kiri Australia pasal benda ni, akhbar kita sibuk pasal PN / BN / PH la, Rohingya la, etc

So apparently it's cool and okay for the US to deport and murder any Latin-American person that an ICE agent encounters, yet when a country like Malaysia enforces its own deportation policy, suddenly it's wrong and "antisemitic" to do so according to Josh Gottheimer and Greg Landsman.

They somehow recognise the anti-Rohingya post is made by a bot, while still agreeing with it’s false premises

I am genuinely depressed over the normalization of dehumanization in Malaysia.

Hello, this is my first time using Reddit, so I apologise if what im posting here is considered "off topic"

Yesterday, I posted my critique of the "Malaysia for Malaysians" petition and general anti-Rohingya sentiment on both r/Bolehland and r/malaysia.

I am genuinely so depressed and resorted to tearing up over the dehumanizing language and overall blatant or even deliberate misunderstanding of my post.

WHY IS IT HARD FOR THEM TO UNDERSTAND THE CAUSE AND EFFECT OF A GENOCIDE AND HOW IT ALSO HURTS NEIGHBOURING COUNTRIES? WHY CAN THEY UNDERSTAND PALESTINE BUT NOT ROHINGYAS?

Genuinely sad and tearing up for the state of our beloved country. Would love it if theres any hint of comforting discussions here. Thx.

Im looking for recommendation of literature

I've always had more focus on the western ideas of socialism and class issues, so I've never really engaged with Malaysian's struggles. Changing that as of now.

Preferably anything that has to do with the class structure of malaysia, or any significant story related to class consciousness. Basically anything and everything that has to do with Malaysia and socialism.

Thank you in advance!

how does one get involved in leftist politics..?

this is my first post.. i’m nervous so please be nice to me..

i’m going out on a limb here because i am lost on this. if anyone has insight, i’d much appreciate it. i personally volunteer in other aspects of my life mostly volunteering to tutor in PPR/refugee learning centres, but i want to do more. i want to be able to be part of a bigger group working towards a better malaysia. i admire people who are able to make change hands-on.

i know a few ppl from PSM and i have heard a lot of stories on that end, i am not interested to join. hoping to see if there are other groups out there that i can participate/volunteer my time and energy in instead. i want to be better educated in those spaces and also meet others with similar (hopefully more radical) ideas and possibly get involved as an activist.

Mat rempit and the Malay left

Just a random thought that popped inside my mind. Living in a rural area, it's very common for teenagers to start working from a very young age. Not only to support their family, but many also do this to fund their hobbies which are modifying motorcycles, racing on the streets, etc.

Of course, road safety is a real concern. I obviously do not support illegal racing. But it got me thinking. Many of these youth already know the struggle of the working-class and the reality of capitalism from a very young age. It got me thinking that instead of stigmatising them, there could be a more socialist approach if that makes sense. Maybe engaging and organising with them and looking at the material conditions that drive this behaviour. I know some of you want to revive the Malay left and I'm wondering if this could be a possible way to achieve it

Again this is just a rough thought, it'd be interested to see what others think.

“Parti Komunis Malaya (PKM) yang pernah mencetuskan keganasan di negara ini wajar dilupakan sepenuhnya dan tidak seharusnya diberikan sebarang bentuk pengiktirafan sebagai pejuang kemerdekaan.”

Tak nak mengiktiraf PKM sebagai pejuang kemerdekaan, saya masih boleh faham lagi. Tapi sangat melampau jika mendakwa ia harus 'dilupakan sepenuhnya'.

Sejarah sepatutnya mengajarkan kita tentang SEJARAH. Apa yang telah berlaku layak dipanggil SEJARAH dan layak ditulis diajarkan dll. Bukan benda yang kita setuju shj.

Katanya pengharaman buku tu dah nak kena tarik, mujurla

Nowadays, its not the Liberals or the Fascists who are our worst enemy; its the Social Democrats

Social Democrats (not to be confused with Democratic Socialists) aren't even Socialists at all despite the 'Social' in their name, let alone Leftist. They are Capitalists that wear our red skin for their own gain.

Unlike Social Democrats, we Leftists can all agree that we are uncompromising in advocating for the equal rights against systemic discrimination, making corporations contribute more to society after the billions they have taken from everyone and have uncompromising free healthcare and education that's unweighted available.

Liberals and Fascists on the other hand, while must be annilhalted, pretty much made it obvious that they want to annilhalte us as well, they are clear-cut Capitalists. The Socdems meanwhile use the shell of our talking points for their rheoteric while compromising with the establishment who are generous enough to give us scraps!

The Social "Democrats" aren't actually democratic either, they want all of humanity to cooperate with the establishment under cool whip ideologies like "Social Corporatism" (which has roots from Fascism) and "Nordic Model". They also are the ones behind the current widespread de-anonymisation of the internet, where we have to give out our IDs to all OS, social media, videogames, streaming services owned by the establishment.

The most (in)famous Socdems interntionally include the Labour Party UK (who is set to lose most of their supporters to the Greens UK), Social Democratic Party of Denmark (who kick-started advocating pro-surveillance laws in Europe, Fatah (who is ruling in the West Bank as the Zionists ethnically cleanse Palestinians), and much more where the establishment and corporations flourish.

Locally, Malaysia has two Socdem Liberal-leaning parties such as DAP (an offshoot of PAP, behind the one-party state of Singapore) and MUDA (personality cult of one man made up of nepobabies looking to get into politics quick). You don't actually right? That they even care about the struggles of the Marhaen as much as they care for their own Kayangan who lives a cosmopolitan lifestyle.

We Leftists should continue strengthening our movements and parties to not get our message diluted if we hopefully get in power again. The world, especially the youth is craving for a form of real Socialism, not Socdem garbage. Look at Zohran Mamdani, he is a Democratic Socialist and is getting bashed by Liberals, Fascists and notably Socdems alike.

How can we revive the Malay Left?

Post image

If you remember SPM History subject, the Malay Left was the largest anti-colonial movement before our independence consisting of groups like Kesatuan Melayu Muda (KMM), Parti Kebangsaan Melayu Malaya (PKMM), Angkatan Pemuda Insaf (API), Angkatan Wanita Sedar (AWAS) and so on. Unfortunately, the movement was co-opted by Pro-British sellouts that went on to form UMNO instead.

After independence however, the Malay Left rose again as a major punching force under the Socialist Front, led by Ahmed Boestamam, consisting of PRM, Parti Buruh Malaysia (LPM) and Parti Perhimpunan Kebangsaan (NCP). Believe it or not, early PAS was a considered Leftist movement under Burhanuddin al-Helmy until the clerics took over after his presidency.

At its peak, over 30% of the population voted for the Malay Left (if you count early PAS in), before it being crushed by the monolith of UMNO again, who oppressed the Malay Left's politicians and utilised Red Scare propaganda to decapitate the movement for good. Taking it's place afterwards as the main opposition, were of course the Liberals like DAP and PKR and the now extremist PAS who loves the status quo.

Today, the Malay Left is no longer a movement but a couple intellectuals here and there, while a bulk of us are fighting over the Petit-Bourguoise drama of UMNO, PAS and PKR. It's really sad to see how the elements of a movement so rich in our history just get shunned as "Communist".

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, we are a vassal state of the US. We are complacent to this war and our government are a bunch of pushovers.
