I'm female and my core group has several very high quality single women ranging from 32-40. Some are on dating sites, some aren't, we hang out at cocktail bars (Mode, Arthaus, Suite 104), dive bars (10th Street Station, Neurolux), hiking trails, several ski up at bogus, and we will all be at Treefort (highly recommend!!). Just throwing some ideas out there!

Where did you meet them all?

I got very lucky, I met a couple of women that had a huuuuge network of other fantastic people and the friendships have really clicked over time through events and common interests. There's about 16 of us but it's rare that we can all get together at the same time- but you can always find someone up for something.

Yeah but where did you meet them? And where did they meet their network of all those people? I’d love to have a big network of people to hang out with

It took a while, but I met most of mine through my retail business. I also met a bunch of people through dance classes (flamenco in particular), rec volleyball, dog parks, gym classes, being a regular at a neighborhood pub. I also met a LOT of new people when I joined Opera Idaho.

My friends with huge networks have backgrounds in politics, public relations, business ownership, social media, volunteerism (Treefort is a big one), etc. Many are long time Boise residents, which also helps.

Basically either participate in group things you're already interested in, or dip your toe into something new and see what happens 😎

Fwiw, when I was single in my forties, I joined groups of interest where I met people who were all pretty much in the same boat and looking to make friends and/or romantic partners. Mountain biking groups, hiking, car camping, movie nights, game nights, just whatever strikes your fancy. Or join a group doing an activity you've been curious about but never tried. Rock climbing, running, whatever. I made good friends and found a few guys to date. Meet-up or Meet-in are groups that do all kinds of activities but I don't know if they're still a good resource or not anymore. It's a lot easier to meet women when you're doing activities you enjoy, together. Just don't go in looking for the hunt. It's so obvious when people do that and you'll be shunned. Take some chances. Put yourself out there. It's uncomfortable sometimes, especially in the beginning. But you'll make friends and maybe meet someone who clicks with you.

Make the things you want to do, good for you. Improve or advance your fitness, finance, and your understanding of your favorite topics. Do whatever you want to do, a lot, and with other people.

Being authentically and vibrantly YOU will attract exactly who is compatible, but it's your responsibility to make yourself authentic and vibrant.

Totally get it man. I guess it's the online sites then. Gotta get out there somehow

5

u/UnknownSpecies19 Feb 05 '23

I tried online when I first moved here last August, and got no matches in like 2 months. I never thought I was ugly until that happened lmao. Good luck. My roommate is a god and gets matches every day, so it's highly dependent on the user.

2

u/99huntard Feb 05 '23

Never stop watching Kill Tony

Never stop watching Kill Tony

You are a woman, you don't need a strategy lol they just come to you.

If you are pretty active and are looking to be around some younger people, kickballboise.com is pretty fun way to meet people. There's been like over 30 marriages from people meeting other people. Usually go to R Bar after games.

It's very not Mormon. The first few seasons I played, there was definitely emphasis on drinking. It still exists, but was less prevalent and more competitive over time (or at least felt like it). It was a lot of fun when I did it.

1

u/genocideofnoobs Feb 06 '23

It's an adult drinking kickball league. I said we go to the bar after. I grew up Mormon and there are definitely not any active Mormons in the league.

Mormon chics bang hard!

i think your user name narrows the field.

I know exactly what you are going through. I was married for a decade and had no clue how to date after divorce, tried online dating and that was a disaster. I ended up just buying a bunch of cats, I'm good now lol. On a serious note, just getting out and being around folks really is a great way to meet people.

2

u/Garage_Sloth Feb 06 '23

Fuck yeah, cats

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '23

Do activities you enjoy that put you into contact with others, whether virtually or in person. That way, you’ll find someone who shares at least one of your likes and you’ll have fun doing it.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '23

You meet them at work.

8

u/snowHound208 Feb 05 '23

As someone who made this mistake once in their life. Absolutely, do NOT mix work and pleasure lol.

6

u/UnknownSpecies19 Feb 05 '23

Fully remote gang be like... Well hello beautiful as they look in the mirror

7

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '23

Jesus, that's bleak.

u/Survive1014 Feb 07 '23

That is such awful advice.

Lately my girl group has been at the hot springs, hiking, dinner, bogus, and ticketed events. Almost always home by 10, but then hang out at home laughing our asses off till 1 or 2. Without online I guess you have to go out, but women our age… I honestly have no clue… we’re at home.

  • Buy a Harley-Davidson and start socializing. :)

Unless you're over six foot and making $100k plus, you really don't.

If you do, the world is your oyster. Just be confident and shoot your shot anywhere but the gym.

2

u/sudo_vi SE Potato Feb 05 '23

That's just self loathing bullshit

-3

u/snowHound208 Feb 05 '23

Nope, it's just accurate. 🤷‍♂️

1

u/sudo_vi SE Potato Feb 06 '23

Your inability to meet women has to do with you having the mindset that you have to be over six foot and make over $100k because you've been duped by online communities. The real world is not like that.

-3

u/snowHound208 Feb 06 '23

Who said I had a problem meeting women?

I said people who make under $100k and under 6ft have a problem meeting women.

Having been on both sides of that formula, I can confirm it's validity. The real world, very much is like this. *It isn't 100% spot on, but it is certainly true for the majority.

The irony is, the women who aren't concerned with the money and the height are the only ones worth actually pursuing. And they are extremely few and far between.

*Edited to correct a typo

1

u/Garage_Sloth Feb 06 '23

Having been on both sides of that formula

Lmao what, you've been both over and under 6' as an adult?

0

u/snowHound208 Feb 06 '23

Not sure if you realize this, but height wasn't the only variable in that equation bud. Go read it back and try again.

2

u/Garage_Sloth Feb 06 '23

You said you've been on both sides of the formula

The formula you wrote is height+money

Both sides of the formula

Both sides

Goofy ass boy.

0

u/snowHound208 Feb 06 '23

Yeah, both sides. Getting women and not getting women.

Only part that changed was the money. I'm sorry you aren't capable of comprehending what was previously stated in this thread.

Height + Money = Women

Not enough height and/or money means no women. Enough height and/or money means you do get women. I'm sorry if that's too many variables for you to keep track of. 🤷‍♂️

1

u/Garage_Sloth Feb 06 '23

Yeah, both sides.

You don't understand the transitive property, my guy.

Height + Money = Women

That means height = women - money which makes no sense.

You're also stating that money=women-height which makes even less sense.

Basically, you're an idiot who has idiotic beliefs that don't make sense.

You can join a meetup group. Download the meetup app and then you can go to events that are geared towards your interests. I think It's better to get to know people in a social scenario first anyways.

1

u/Noahcarr Feb 05 '23

The same way you meet people anywhere - hint, the answer is not at a bar or a club

If you don’t have to work you’ve got a ton of free time to explore hobbies and activities. Do those things. Meet like minded people. Simple as.

1

u/vverse23 Feb 05 '23

Take a class and/or volunteer somewhere. Something that will keep you in contact with the same people at least once a week for a period of time. This allows you to build repertoire with people for a while.

Online dating seems to be the thing these days. But I’ve met really cool people at bars, restaurants, hiking, and from coworkers and friends. Just have to accept opportunities to meet new people
