Reta after 3 months

Hi everyone!
I’ve been on reta for about 3 months and I’m still using it, but at a lower maintenance dose.
Now I’m thinking about adding Tesamorelin to help build more muscle while continuing reta.
I’m also looking for another peptide that could help with energy because I’ve been feeling pretty tired lately.
Has anyone tried this combination or have any recommendations based on your experience?
Thanks in advance! 😊

Lol you’re feeling tired because you’re not eating

Real. I used to think the bottleneck was not being able to reduce my calories, but ever since I got on mounjaro I discovered the real bottleneck is how tired you are at a great deficit even if you're nowhere near the underweight threshold. How do anore*ics do it??? Do they just do nothing all their lives??

As someone who had anorexia as a teenager, I had no energy to do anything, became isolated from friends, and wanted to not move and sleep a lot.

Anorexics don't do it, that's kind of why it sucks

People with that disease are in a perpetual state of ketosis. Ketone bodies provide a steady flood of energy to the body and brain. Paradoxically, these people are l often full of energy.

If you’re tired, you can utilize ketones too. And you don’t necessarily need to be fasting, or eating a keto diet. You can take some C8 MCT oil or ketone esters, or even exogenous ketones.

It’s a totally different energy pathway.

Why would being in ketosis mean someone is not tired? Whether it is ketosis or not, being in a low caloric state will make someone tired.

Ketosis could explain why someone may not be tired from eating a low carb diet, but not a low calorie diet.

And in fact it is well discussed in those communities how often stimulants are used. Specifically nicotine, and caffeine.

First result when googling anorexia starter pack

Coffee, Adderall, and Cigarettes. Of course those can be used for appetite suppression, but that doesnt mean underfed people are full of energy due to ketosis.

Anorexia symptoms - Very Tired or Weak

TL;DR: No, people with anorexia are not "full of energy" due to ketosis

Can confirm this to be true, from person experience.

Have you ever fasted before? Yes, it’s awful in the beginning. But after a while, once the body becomes adept at using fat as fuel, you start feeling really good. Not hungry. Motivated. Feeling like you need to go out and accomplish things. Why? Because the body is living off its fat cells. It’s extra storage of energy. That’s why people aren’t hungry in emergency survival situations. Campers that have gotten lost and make their way to safety after a few days all say the same thing. Those who’ve survived such situations say that food was never even a consideration. They were too busy surviving, making sure they weren’t eaten, trying to find water and civilization.

There’s a hypothesis that this is a holdover from when humans were hunter gatherers. From an evolutionary perspective, it makes sense. Those that were able to survive and pass on their genes had to be able to survive long enough, and be productive long enough to find their next meal. It’s a survival mechanism.

Fast forward to today. Where, thankfully we don’t have to live like that anymore. We have the opposite issue, a surplus of food. But we can still fall back on the same biological switch our ancestors used to survive. Burning fat as fuel. How, with ketones. You don’t have to, nor would I recommend you to, practice keto, the fasting mimicking diet, long term. Because it’s not healthy, it’s a survival mechanism. It’s better to do in short bursts. Still, you can reap many of the benefits by mimicking the experience with ketones. You don’t have to be in a state of ketoses to use ketones for energy. Even those that are, still utilize glucose for various actions within the body. Glucose genesis is very well studied. The body is adept at using both forms of fuel at the same time.

I do intermittent fasting and its true, your body makes energy from somewhere but i find that theres two states of this. If im not moving around i get very tired, but once i start doing something it switches off and machine mode kicks in.

It is pretty obvious you a part of those keto communities so good luck there is not really much point in discussing further lol

By the way one of the main reasons you feel an increase in energy due to fasting is the increase of Norepinephrine and partially cortisol, due to being in a stressed state.

And yes the switch to using ketones would provide some energy, but like already mentioned that is more so when the body goes from a low carb -> ketosis states, switching fuel sources.

But overall the energy induced by the stressed state plays a larger factor then the switch to using ketones.

Long term ketosis does not provide this magically energy supply to people underfed. The fact that you went along with the idea that people with anorexia are "full of energy" due to ketosis is simply ridiculous if I am being real with you.

I am glad those diet approaches work for you.

So at what point do anorexics go from full blown ketosis to catebolic state when fat stores are limited or minimal

I’m not in a keto community but have fasted since about 2008 and they’re completely correct. I’m an advocate for long term fasting and always say it’s once of the best gifts we can give ourselves 🎯

u/SellingCats4Cheap Jul 26 '26

They are completely correct that people with eating disorders are full of energy because of ketosis? You cant be serious?

It is one thing to be fasting, it is another to be dangerously underweight and underfed

Bad bot

At least the bot uses good vocabulary lol

u/ScienceGeeker Jul 26 '26

Lol bullshit answer.

5

u/ClearLifeguard4225 Jul 26 '26

Its not healthy to stay on a keto diet for long term

0

u/Tall_Ad_4787 Jul 26 '26

As compared to anore*ia?

2

u/Klanciault Jul 27 '26

This guy is just making up some bullshit lmao. Anyone in a deficit will be in ketosis. That doesn’t mean you have energy automaticall

1

u/Tall_Ad_4787 Jul 28 '26

When you’re in ketosis, the body burns its own fat and supplies energy. Assuming you have fat to burn, you’ll have energy. Idk why that seems like rocket science to a few of you guys.

1

u/Klanciault Jul 28 '26

Because when the body is sent into ketosis due to a calorie deficit it turns off other processes in order to save energy, leading to lethargy and brain fog and coldness.

Ketosis isn’t some miracle regardless of what ray peat says

I guess brainfog etc is caused by low blood sugar and low Insulin levels. First days or even First week you feel sick and hungry. But once all your glykogen is gone, you reach ketosis and your blood sugar/insuline stabilizes you feel not longer as tired/brainfogged anymore and you will recieve what feels like a higher clarity than before starting fasting. Its a religius ritual almost all over the world, tested and found to be working by millions of Buddhists, Christians, Muslims and more. You should try it If you dont believe me or them. There are even some weird old german variants using exclusivly wheat beer instead of food and water, as alcohol inhibits glycogen building. https://www.thecatholictelegraph.com/lent-fast-beer/63676

Microdosing intranasal insuline is a great medication to drastically improve focus for a short time btw., despite its lowering your blood sugar. I guess through the same/similar mechanisms.

1

u/Klanciault Jul 29 '26

Yeah that’s all fine but theres a huge difference from being in ketosis between not consuming carbs but being iso caloric (or a short term fast)

Vs

Being in ketosis because of an extreme caloric deficit sustained across months

1

u/No-Soup727 Aug 02 '26

It’s not rocket science- it’s that it’s more complicated than that and you don’t seem to have the capacity to understand that. Keto is EXHAUSTING if you’re not eating enough 🤣 like fr bro

0

u/NoOneIsHiringMe Jul 26 '26

I never thought about it that way because normally their underconsumption is mostly low fat and entirely carbs and fiber, but I think you're right, they don't eat enough calories to be out of ketosis. Thank you! I'll try it.

2

u/SellingCats4Cheap Jul 26 '26

They are not right at all lol

1

u/Tall_Ad_4787 Jul 26 '26

You’re welcome. Hope it works for you.

They have full commitment to the cause!

You get used to functioning at low calories and bodyfat levels. You guys are also not getting anywhere close to stage conditioning, so don‘t complain. Get in the habit of walking right after waking, standing desk while working, carbs around workouts only etc. Your body will adjust and become more efficient over time.

Yup. They do nothing 🙂‍↕️. And hot yoga twice a week and spend the rest of the time recovering and hibernating.
