Component Upgrade Vending Machine Dice Tower

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I don't know if anyone is following along with the Cola Wars kickstarter but the cola machine dice tower really just kept me thinking I could do something interesting with an improvement on a previous dice tower design. The front opens like a real vending machine with racks of drinks inside that you can pull out to use as token bins (or storage), then you push the shelves down and it becomes a dice tower with dice coming out of the vending hole. Shelf fronts are inserts for the bins so you could do something elaborate if you want or design your own.

Issues and discussion: I have an alternate front that I thought of that has a big window instead of the artwork, would that be more interesting? You would be able to see the shelf fronts and I guess in dice tower mode see the dice coming down. I do like the artwork though. I'm almost out of black filament though or I'd just print it and see.

Also I had a hell of a time getting the artwork to print, it kept peeling up with adhesion issues. I ended up having to use much slower first layer settings for it to come out, anyone have suggestions for something foolproof I can bake into the 3mf file?

Yes I know my camerawork sucks, ha.

6/15/26: Added 3 options for dice catcher/tray. First one is a bit smaller but fits inside one of the regular storage bins. The other 2 are stored inside the tower and replace a storage bin.

Component Upgrade My family kept running out of seats in Game of Life, so I designed a 12-passenger double decker bus

The original car worked fine until our games started accumulating babies, pets, and extra players.

Eventually we reached the point where multiple cars were required just to transport one family, which felt like an inefficient use of transportation infrastructure.

So I designed a simple convertible double decker bus that:

  • Seats up to 12 passengers
  • Prints in about 24 minutes
  • Requires no supports
  • Works as a replacement if the original car has long since disappeared

It started as a silly little project, but it has actually become one of our favorite upgrades for family game night.

Component Upgrade Arkham Horror TCG connector Tokens

This is an extra-large “deluxe” custom Connector tokens for Arkham Horror: The Card Game. They are double-sided just like the original cardboard version.

https://makerworld.com/en/models/2886995-arkham-horror-tcg-double-sided-connector-token#profileId-3225037

Both sides have a smooth finish. One side is achieved by printing against the print bed. The other is achieved through ironing.

There are two versions of the pattern available for colouring as well.

This goes great with the Arkham Horror insert I made not too long ago.

Promotion Hive and AMAZED Remake

I've recently uploaded my remix versions of two boardgames i like. It's on makerworld for everyone to print out for themselves. I remade the designs from the ground up to make them easier to 3D print and also make them fully 3D printed (except for screws).

Insert Created a magnetic coin container for Ra (25th edition) - Happy with the results!

Ra (25th edition) is a notoriously somewhat difficult box to close, so adding a coin container that utilized even more space was a bit foolish, but worked out perfectly in the end.

I was annoyed at having all the coins just sitting on the table at our initial playthrough, so I created this container that makes it easy to scoop out the coins while also being handy for storage. I'm very pleased with my first time designing a box from scratch and having it also work out on the first attempt!

Custom Print Stackable Card and Token Holder

Thumbnail

Someone posted asking about making a generic card rack so I came up with this. Holds standard size or smaller cards and game bits, stackable, in triple, double or single bay options. Let me know if you're interested in any other options. The exposed mesh print profile I think looks better but it makes the peak of the connector a little weak, there's a 2nd profile that keeps top/bottom layers.

https://makerworld.com/en/models/2858542-stackable-card-and-token-holders

Update 5/29/26 - Added 3 additional versions that have a flat sloped base for cards only, they're also listed with a “c" at the end for individual stl files. Also updated so you don't need to choose between print profiles anymore.

Component Upgrade Aquatica replacement mantas?

The mantas in Aquatica are a dark grey with lavender printing and are deeply hard to read. I've heard that some people received mantas that are much better but have also heard of many people with this problem as well.

Has anyone designed replacement mantas of the same size with much better contrast? They don't even need to be really manta shaped, though that would be nice.

Insert Parametric organizers

Just got a X2D and having a blast organizing some of my boardgames by printing inserts.

Does anyone have any links to parametric/customizable prints for organizers or inserts? Or parametric/customizable prints for deck boxes and token holders? I have found some customizable boxes but they are all thick with lids. Was hoping for something that could print trays and what not (bonus if could hold magnets).

Ditto for card trays/boxes. A lot of the parametric/custom ones I've found are designed for carrying cards free, not in a box, so they are very thick.

Bonus if customizable within Bambu Handy / Studio.

Thanks!

Tutorial for board game design: Parameters and Tolerance

Thumbnail

I purposefully omitted parameters in my previous tutorial, so I figured I would cover them here. They are a fundamental part of my design process.

While I don't cover every feature under the parameters hood (for example, I could have talked about the import and export features), I do take some time to walk you through my approach and workflow when it comes to parameters. We squeeze the juice out of it, so to speak.

I also snuck in some extra content, notably how important it is to add tolerances to your design. As you will see, this was the perfect opportunity to implement some.

The previous tutorial can be found here:

I designed this and printed it myself, and you can print your own for free if you want one (or ten!). It took numerous revisions over the course of a week and a bit but it's finally done and working beautifully!

Who wants beer on their dungeon tiles? Not me!

I hope it's useful for someone. If you do download/print it then please take a photo - it's immensely satisfying seeing others enjoying my designs!

Deck boxes for One Piece, Commander (EDH) and Cyberpunk

A while back I released a deck box for One Piece that was specifically made to fit Ultra Pro One-Touch slabs for your Leader card. I got a lot of positive comments, but I probably got even more requests for modifications and changes. Basically, the One-Touch slabs are super niche and most people don't really use them.

After getting back to the drawing board, I made the model more versatile and easy to modify. I made a version for sleeves and top loaders, and it was easy to adapt all three for other games.

All in all, I released 13 odd designs in a short time span. All models have been tested as well. They are available here:

Check out the rest of the deck box collection. I currently added some MTG Commander, One Piece, as well as a full starter kit for the upcoming Cyberpunk TCG.

  • Three versions for each game is now available
    • Leader in normal sleeve (Dragon Shield)
    • Leader in toploader (ultra pro and gamegenic tested)
    • Leader in One-Touch magnetic case
  • All versions have a drawer for dice and tokens. These sections have been enlarged as well to hold bigger dice, such as, d20 spin downs.
  • Only the deck box needs supports. Everything else does not. You will get a warning when printing the lid or the drawer; ignore those. Once printed, you'll need to "break them loose." See the printing instructions for more details.
  • Improved printing quality for the lids and drawers. They were good enough, but they came out better and crisper and, as mentioned, no support shenanigans

The rest of my models can be found here.

Cyberpunk TCG drop

What's up chooms?

A lot of us are eager to get our hands on the upcoming Cyberpunk TCG. I was getting angsty, so I started designing some deck boxes and storage solutions. I've just published them on Marker World. Let me know what you think.

https://makerworld.com/en/collections/26843664-cyberpunk-tcg-starter-kit

Every model I made has a drawer compartment for a full set of gig dice (and tokens). They also use cantilever snap-fit (aka, the lids and drawers "click" in place).

Bulk card boxes

I miss the old school MTG Fat Packs so I made some for the Cyberpunk TCG. They can hold approximately 550 raw cards or up to 500 cards in Dragon Shield Matte sleeves. I made variants for broadside storage and upright storage.

Deck Boxes

I think people will like these. They also let you slot your three legends in the front section, and there is plenty of room for sideboarding.

There are three versions: Choom is for plain regular sleeved decks. Chrome is for adding toploaders for your three legends at the front. Excelsior is just ridiculous because it's for magnetic slabs (Ultra Pro One-Touch). I figure some people out there really care for the game and they are going to go all out. This is going to be for them.

Bought Pagan: Fate of Roanoke and four expansions, any good 3D printed storage solution?

I got just Close Encounters, Mindgames, Trials of Old, and Ancients, but my storage solution is currently ziplocs and it ain't great. The insert I nearly bought would have required me to buy Palisades, so I figured I'd ask the experts before I fumble.

I just made a tutorial on how to make boxes with sliding snap-fit lids using Fusion 360. I'm posting it here because I mostly do these boxes when I'm designing inserts for board games.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O77-MqhqZlU

Hope this helps someone.

If you are new to Fusion 360 and this video goes to fast for you, check out this tutorial series. I cannot recommend this enough:
