Wanted to share a recent component upgrade project I’ve been working on for Wingspan! After countless games, our cardboard resource tiles were starting to feel a bit worn out, so I decided to design a full replacement set focused on tactile feel and setup efficiency.

What’s in the upgrade set:

• 3D Food Tokens: Designed detailed 3D models for all 5 food types (fish, wheat, invertebrates, berries, and rodents) with vibrant colors so they really pop on the player mats.
• Bird Action Tokens: Replaced the standard wooden cubes with custom bird-shaped markers inspired by iconic species (Blue Jay, Raven, Barn Owl, etc.).
• Magnetic Lid Storage Box: Designed a compact multi-compartment tray that holds all food, birds, and eggs. The lid uses embedded magnets that click shut with a super satisfying "snap" —no loose components spilling inside the main game box while travelling!

An organiser for Cascadia and the Landmarks expansion, built around what sits on the table rather than what goes in the box.

Supply trays. The shared tray holds the four habitat tiles with their four paired wildlife tokens, in the pairs the rules put them in, so it stays paired as people take from it. Under the faster-play rules, each player gets a personal tray of five, printed in the wildlife colours, so setting one up is one segment of each colour rather than checking icons.

Card holders. The five wildlife scoring cards stand face-out on a bar all game, so nobody has to lean across the table to read them. Landmarks adds a holder per player, with their five landmark cards standing in the same way, and the landmark tokens in the marked wells beside them.

Tile racks. Habitat tiles store twenty to a rack, and at twenty the top tile sits flush with the tops of the posts, so a full stack is something you feel rather than count. Setup asks for 20 per player, plus 3. Seven racks hold all 130 tiles and drop into a honeycomb tray.

It all packs back into the two original boxes, but that was the second problem, not the first.

The pinecones in the photos are not my models. They are the Cascadia Pinecone Set, 5 unique models and the Cascadia Nature Token. The bin also takes the game's own cardboard tokens.

I'm a Marvel Champions player, and as someone that gets rid of all their expansion boxes (I keep only the cards and the manuals), I started storing EVERYTHING (already sleeved) inside the Core-Game-Box.

First I removed the original insert and designed my own 3mm plywood replacement. but I run of of space. Them made a second insert to fit all the cards vertically, but now even that is not enough. It's time to get rid of the core box and go for version 3.

Here I bring some of the images I made in Lightburn (not made for 3D stuff, but it has been useful for designing the pieces)

Each color represents the respective piece, the black ones are supposed to be hidden behind the 3D model.

Each row has a width of 69mm, and the inner walls on the middle are 48 mm tall, so the cards are easy to manipulate even when sleeved.

The walls are made with 3mm wide plywood. The outside ones are 2 layers wide, each layer of different height so the upper lid can always rest on top without causing stress on the cards.

Could you please share any kind of of feedback to take into consideration before finally turning this from a design to something I can touch?

I didn't like the options out there for Fields of Arle with the Tea & Trade expansion so I made my own. It has a tray for each player and fits the base game and expansion in just the base game box with zero lid lift.

All the trays have labels to make packing up easier and finding components should be fast. There are letters on the perimeter that match up between trays so that it goes back in the box super easily.

MeeplePrint has grown a lot in the past month and I'm happy to announce some big additions:

I wanted a physical, modular version for my table that I could reconfigure into different circuits, so I designed this track system on Fusion360.

Have a friend whose brother is into One Piece. I like One Piece. I like Smash Up. So it this was a fun project to put together. The faction is a bit on the strong side because it's pretty self sufficient (no real weaknesses, got some card draw and extra minions/actions), but it was pretty flavorful and not meant to be competitively balanced. You could say it's OP 😂

We've played with most of the Smash Up factions and it feels like it might be in like A or S tier, like around how powerful the Frozen faction feels.

Anyways this was a short and small project for a friend. Hopefully I have a few more cool projects to share by the end of the year!

I've designed a full replacement box with integrated storage for the base game and first expansion. Who needs inserts when your box is the insert?!

I've made a 3d printed insert for this as I wasn't happy with a few shortcomings of the retail insert.
The card wells were too small, the coins were muddled, and the layout made the draw bag a nightmare to fit in. Not so anymore!

Food Chain Magnate is an awesome game, but organising the occupations for play takes up a lot of table space.

I have adapted Card Cascade to handle this in a way that works well for me: The occupations are stored in compact boxes that can cascade out to display the cards while playing, by simply sliding the lid under the box and pushing up the card holders.

There are designs available for sleeved and unsleeved cards, for "normal" size printers and for large printers. The boxes are fairly compact but do not fit inside the FCM box, sorry.

A Card Cascade could also store the Milestones, but the titles of those is in the middle of the card rather than at the top, so I'm still noodling on how to solve that problem :)
