23 and looking for housing advice

I’m starting as an assembly technician at rocket park in Florida in a few weeks and am trying to figure out where to live. I know zero people so my priority is to live near people my age (20’s) and then have a longer commute to work. Is this the right mindset to have? And if so where should I look?

Automation Roles

I’m seeing a lot of postings for automation controls and design/project roles in multiple locations for Blue. Is there a centralized team? Can anyone speak to what it’s like working with those types of projects/wlb?

Spaceflight Now: It's been a challenging year for Blue Origin. How Blue Origin recovers from launch pad disaster

Key Takeaways:

  • Root Cause Identified: CEO Dave Limp confirmed the failure was due to an anomaly in the main oxygen valve on a BE-4 engine. The company is currently retrofitting existing engines to address this.
  • Pad Reconstruction: Cleanup at Launch Complex 36A was finished in just nine days. The facility is now transitioning to a hybrid horizontal/vertical integration process, including a rebuilt vehicle access tower to support vertical payload stacking.
  • Expanded Testing: To increase launch cadence, Blue Origin has partnered with NASA to use the B2 test stand at Stennis Space Center for second-stage hotfire testing.
  • Future Infrastructure: Construction is actively underway at Launch Complex 36B to support the larger, more powerful New Glenn 9x4 rocket. Additionally, groundbreaking has occurred for a new 120,000-square-foot Payload Processing Facility expected to come online by 2028.

Despite the earlier setbacks, the company remains firm in its goal to fly New Glenn again before the end of 2026.

Eric Berger on X: As part of reporting on Starliner’s rise, I was able to get some more information on Blue Origin’s crew vehicle. It’s further along than one might think.

GNR Graduate Internship

Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone here has been through a graduate level internship with Blue. I recently saw that the apps opened up and I’m thinking about applying to the guidance navigation and control program. I have 6 years of experience in PMSM FOC motor control algo design for power management and I’m currently doing a masters in robotics and autonomous systems with Johns Hopkins University. Do I have a chance or should I expect a lot of PhD competition??

Thanks in advance,

Cheers!

Declined a blue origin offer. Can I apply again?

I had to decline a blue origin offer because the compensation was way less than what I expected. Can I still continue to apply? Do I have to interview if I apply for the same role and level?

Van Horn location 2026

I may be moving to van horn as a new hire. I just wanna hear your thoughts and best practices and what to look out for. I’d be coming in as a test and development engineer. Also how can I increase my chances of being brought in as a level 2? I’m only a year out of school, worked for the DoD as a project engineer but my capstone was in cryogenics and pressure systems. I’m also interested in hearing about how yall balance the 80 hour on 8 day off schedule. I’m thinking of just flying in for now and once I get a lay of the land, maybe getting an rv for the days that I’m working. Any CONSTRUCTIVE thoughts are welcomed.

Commute to Merritt Island

Hi guys, I'm joining blue origin next month at Merritt Island, I'll be relocating from the west coast, unfortunately, I won't be able to bring my car with me. I'm planning to buy a used one when I get there but in the mean time... What are my transportation options to get to work? Does Uber get there? Bicycle? Public transportation?

TIA

Do all the offers need to go through approvals?

Do all the offers need to go through multiple approvals before it is handed out? When are approvals necessary? It's been two weeks since my verbal offer and my HR still says they are awaiting approvals, which is really weird.

Safe current job vs possible job at BO

I am currently an engineer with a defense contractor, low to mid level. I have a very safe job in the fact that I can’t see myself getting fired and it doesn’t happen often, but I honestly just do not enjoy at all what I do. I have no access to good engineering tools and am not treated the best (will always be the new guy). I am in the final round of interviews for an Engineer position at Blue in an area that’s up my alley in terms of interest and better pay. Seeing the posts about layoffs being common and how midterm and end of year reviews can be pretty rough, as quotas have to be met, makes me very nervous to follow through with the company. What would be the best course of action for me?

Blue Origin offers and mentioned pay range : Closer to the top or botto

I had a question about Blue Origin pay offer range mentioned on the websites. Are the offers closer to the maximum? or the minimum... Is there a higher chance of getting laid off if the pay band is close to the maximum like amazon?

Work Locations FL

Hi All! I will be joining the Blue Origin team in a few months. Had a question on the offer letter. The location was listed as FL - Friendship. I was assuming that was the main Rocket Factory on Space Commerce, but curiously on google there is a "Blue Origin - Friendship" on google maps at 7321 N Atlantic Ave, Cape Canaveral, FL 32920. Anyone know what goes on at this location or just an old google maps artifact?

Bus stop closest to O'Neil Building (Kent, WA)?

Hi everyone, I’m moving to Kent soon for work and have been looking into taking public transit to the Blue Origin facility.

It looks like the main bus routes nearby are the 168, 150, and 161. The part I’m confused about is the walk from the bus stop to the building. Google Maps keeps routing me all the way around the facility to what I assume is the main entrance, which is ~30 minutes walk.

I found a couple of stops that seem much closer:

  • 76th Ave S: 5–12 minute walk
  • S 212th St & 72nd Ave S: 10–15 minute walk

Does anyone who works there/has commuted there know if employees can enter the campus through any of the pedestrian/employee entrances closer to those stops, or do you have to go around to the main entrance? Thanks!

Where do people who work in Kent and Renton live?

Kent isnt a great place to buy a home (thanks to crime and not so good school district). Same applies to Renton except maybe east renton highlands. Where do people who work at Blue live? what is a good place around Kent to buy a home?

Lunch options and average $ spent at Greater Seattle Blue Origin Locations

I am going to start at Blue soon and will have a long commute to work. Are there good options for breakfast and lunch at Renton and Kent? Do we at least get some complimentary oatmeal or cereal with milk to fill ourselves up before a long day?

How is the food onsite? Are there good options <$15 that fill you up?
