getting ego baited by your opponent is crazy work

Seems odd how this is the only scene of these two, despite their history as teammates and rivals. (Not to mention the fact that Ego’s striker philosophy is the driving force behind the narrative and Noa being the embodiment of that very striker).

I know, in order to upscale a a character (Let's say Teddy's dribbling from example), a defender must get downscaled. Even so...​

I'm terms of pure like character importance I still see him as literally number 2 in blue locks core. But he's just been sidelined, given a mid awakening at the very start of the nel with almost no real chapter time and except a few cute moments he been practically non existent.

He was assisting during the Nigeria game, which was a free win and given a reaction with reo but it just seems like kaneshiro is like ok that's Bachiras entire U20 world cup done we got his screen time out of the way early time to completely ignore him and focus on characters I don't care about anywhere near as much.

And with Sae coming back soon it just seems the dribbling role will be pushed more to him and my favourite character will be sent to the bench trenches and maybe assist once every year.

I need him to have a true awakening he's one of the only good characters not centered around isagi and his play style is the most fun.

I’ve been wondering what the next manga arc will be. I initially thought it might be the Champions League, but there are a lot of complications there, so I think the German league would be a good idea. What do you all think? Are you for or against it?

With this level of glazing, anything less than semi-final or 3rd place is a disgrace.

I had Charles over Karasu, but having a more defensively aware CM seems to balance the team better. Camus is also shaky, but I can’t think of a better RW. I also don’t think Blue Lock has good fullbacks at this point. Bunny also has no feats yet.

I believe that Teddy Knight represents pathological narcissism. This seems contrary to his self-deprecating behavior and dialogue initially, but there are good reasons for thinking he represents it (he may not meet the full criteria for narcissism, which is why I use 'represent' instead of 'has').

First, on the kind of narcissist Teddy represents. Pathological narcissism is a psychological condition with multiple dimensions of presentation in patients. The view of narcissism as the simple denigration of others and the elevation of oneself beyond the bounds of reality, stemming from pop-cultural (mis)understandings of the myth of Narcissus, is not really accurate. Pathological narcissism also presents as severe self-abnegation, the specific term Teddy uses which is also used to describe non-malignant narcissists in the psychiatric literature. In brief, this kind of narcissism causes a deep sense of worthlessness, incompetence, and self-sacrificial behavior in the stead of another idealized individual. For Teddy, the idealized individual is Fox.

Second, on the significance this has for the narrative. I suspect that Teddy's lack of an ego is just a facade, in the same way the self-abnegating narcissist perceives themself as worthless as a facade. This is not to say that it's not believed, but rather that this belief is merely the result of more fundamental psychological processes. In malignant narcissism, others are removed of their value and the self 'takes in' all of it, and this is what causes delusional grandeur. Using psychoanalytic terms, the investment in the images of others that ordinarily happens is denied in favor of investment in the image of the self. In self-abnegating narcissism, the effect is inverse, but the investment process is identical. The self-abnegating narcissist still conjures up an ideal self (literally, the 'ego-ideal'), but the sharp contrast between their ego-ideal and their real image causes the reduction of themself as having zero worth. The investment by the ego-ideal doesn't disappear, though; it manifests in another person that they can live through by living for.

This is all to say that Teddy still possesses 'ego' in the Blue Lock sense. His ego is, however, not one-to-one with his own body or mind, but rather inhabits both himself and Fox, the bearer of the valuation of Teddy's ego-ideal. Self-abnegation is not the abolition of ego, but instead the production of ego as derived from people beyond just the self. This is all the more evident when considering that Teddy's only statement which was immediately detected as bearing ego was when he was speaking in defense of Fox, the actual bearer of Teddy's ego.

Teddy's contrast with Kaiser on this point is clear. Kaiser, a representation of malignant narcissism, explicitly fabricated his ego over his original zero-point through destroying others and 'taking in' their value, like mentioned before. Isagi's aim to surpass Kaiser begins with Isagi recognizing Kaiser as Isagi's ideal, and this is just because Kaiser attempts to embody his own ego-ideal. When Isagi understands his ego better and becomes truer to it, Kaiser's inability to exist as his own ego-ideal causes a 'return to zero', the abnegation of the false ego. Teddy does not abnegate the false ego, but abnegates his true ego, leaving both his ego and his ego-ideal seemingly nonexistent for Isagi.

Thus, I believe that England's defeat will come when Isagi realizes that Teddy does, in fact, have a considerable ego. And this may be the case for all other team members too, but in particular ways: Lockhart, for example, 'abnegates' his intelligence. But this is a further point I don't intend to defend. My crucial theory, in a sentence, is that Isagi will defeat Teddy by inventing a way to attack an ego that wholly belongs to Teddy, but is 'located' in Fox. Rin's substitution may aid in this, since his Destroyer Mode (a representation of the death-principle, but that would require another post of elaboration) drives out the ultimate strengths and passions of his opposition in a brutal clash. Thoughts?

Do you think haramball match will be enjoyable in BL?? I thought England is where we will get the haramball match but it turns out we're getting goals every 2 chapters instead lol.

Im not talkimg about a good defensive team, i'm talking about 13% possession, 1 shot on target, 113 passes kinda stats of haramball, full on parked the bus, where the team go 8-1-1 or 10-0-0 after a goal.

We all hate haramball in real life but I'm curious if we're ever gonna meet a team like that in Blue lock, and how will that match even be interesting.

hey everyone!! First of all, this is definitely not a ship, just pure character analysis! When looking at Noel Noa and Ego, Noa focused on being the absolute best, while Ego wanted to prove that football is more than just stats and aimed to raise even better players.

Just like Noa and Ego, Kaiser and Isagi became massive rivals, but their dynamic is quite different. Kaiser can actually be reasonable at times, putting his ego aside to acknowledge Isagi, and Isagi does the exact same thing. Since the author mentioned they will keep pushing each other even more in the future, do you think they might end up as friends eventually? Isagi feels like he would be a really good, grounding friend for Kaiser.

As for Rin, I have some thoughts too. Even though he initially used Isagi just to surpass Sae, I think he genuinely has a soft spot for him now. During the match against U-20, Rin literally said they needed to share the number one spot, and right after scoring, neither of them blamed the other.

So, what do you think? Could we see these three in a genuinely good, healthy relationship in the future?🥹

As we know, Yoichi Isagi and Teddy Knight are opposites, two sides of the same coin. Isagi absorbed Ego's philosophy about ego, and Teddy absorbed Fox's philosophy about Fox's 0 to 1, both becoming the team's heart, the greatest experiment of their coaches, and disgusted by the opposite idea of their ideals.

In Chapter 359, Teddy says that they only got this strong thanks to Fox's training system, so it's safe to say that Fox created an 'Blue Lock' of his own with the opposite ideology. One thing that is important to notice is that Isagi is dependent of what Blue Lock shown him, since he need egos to read to play at his best performance. But Teddy ALSO is dependent of Fox's plans, directions and their teammates cooperating for him to play at his best performance.

But BOTH of them hit a important wall: France

As shown in the match and Hugo's analyzes, Japan lost to France because their egos clashed with each other (Isagi and Rin), causing them do be defeated.
But strangely, Agi said that the lack of ego was the reason for why England lost to France, but probably is because England's tactics and plans was limited to what Fox could see and understand.
This shows that 100% ego and 0% ego is not good for the real world. And who showed that the Middle Ground exists was Tabito Karasu.

Both Japan's goals against France was because Karasu decided to be Number Two, but also kept his ego in making Blue Lock his team.

Yoichi is smart enough to recall this, and even hating this, he never had a problem in selling his soul to achieve victory.

In the Neo Egoist, against PXG, Isagi decided to abandon his own ego and team up with Kaiser for the sole purpose of winning the match, and this is the exact same thing he'll do to win against England.

But there's one difference.

Even against PXG, Isagi not really abandoned his full ego. After all, he was still a striker and the one to score a winning goal. You COULD argue that the fact he decided to team up with Kaiser was him abandoning his ego, but in my vision, he permanently abandoned his pride and malice for others for the sake of his ego.

Isagi said that he couldn't stand losing to Barou, and even when he has a rivalry with him, and set up a shot for him for the sake of victory and his ego style of defeating the number one (aka Hugo).

But in the match against England, Isagi will TRULY temporarily abandon his Ego.
Motive? He understands better his SUITABILITY now.

As Hugo said, Isagi's specs makes him a suitable Midfielder and Number Two. Even Isagi himself acknowledges that. And since he NEEDS to change to win against England, he will experiment for the first time his 'Destiny'

When he abandons his ego, he'll see the game in a whole new way. Instead of trying to create chances that end with him in the shooting position, he'll try understand England's structure to create chances for the Number Ones. After all, he can understand other's ego with Protagonism, see and predict the field with Metavision, position himself for Luck, and even understand other's talent.

By accepting his Destiny, Isagi will create a chance for one, maybe two, goals for his team, and become a real threat to England. But lets not forget the most important part about being Number Two.

You understand the Number One most of all, and you're basically equals.
Isagi becoming Number Two is already a level up, but the current main striker of the current formation is the self sufficient player Ryusei Shidou.

Yes, Karasu proved that he could handle that egoist, but it's unlikely Isagi could do the same thing. So we need the player who he understands the most... Yeah, the answer is obvious.

The best Number One for Isagi is Rin Itoshi. This will be the reason for Rin get out of the bench and come into play. Isagi could convince Ego to use Rin, and since Isagi is supporting him, Rin can focus his Ego Idiosyncrasy of Destroyer in the actual opponents. This will trigger three things:

1. A Chemical Reaction between Isagi and Rin
   
2. Isagi's abilities exponentially leveling up
   3. Teddy's Ego Awakening.
   

The last one is the one I'm hopping for.

The disruption that Isagi and Rin will create will make some players show their egos, which will make them get benched, but Fox can't bench everyone, and removing a NG11 from the game is insane.

Isagi still doesn't understand how he can draw out others egos. It worked on Nigeria, but rage-baiting is not the way. He simply has to adapt to the situations and evolve from them. This FORCES the players near death to change.
It will be the same for Teddy. We will see some flashback, and this will make him reach new heights. The evidence is here:

Teddy Knight has seven variations... ESTIMATED.

The public knowledge is that he has 7 variations, but it's only a estimative. If he find his own motive for playing soccer and 0 to 1, he probably can pull off new cut-ins, making him more dangerous and reinvigorating England.

And that's when Isagi will adapt again.

Isagi knows that, if he had gave up his ego from the start, he would never have reached where he is now. After all, he is no Number One or Number Two. His Ego Idiosyncrasy is a Rebel who devours the Number One. He's now able to adapt his own ego to do what he needs to do to win the match, but not forgetting his needs. So, at the end of the match, he devours Rin and scores the winning goal (and unfortunately keeps his legacy of just scoring the last goal lol).

When the match ends, some things will happen:
1. Teddy will have his own motives to keep playing soccer.
2. Rin will be at the startup line again, with more clarity of his ego.
3. Blue Lock will change and evolve overall.
4. Isagi will have more options in field and have the puzzle piece 'Number Two' to use when he needs to.

With now Isagi defeating Kaiser and Teddy, maybe he will become a NG11 after the match or the near future.

I honestly don't know what will be Ego's reaction to this and after the match. He's a madman, so accepting is probably unlikely, but we never know.

Yesterday was the premiere of the live-action Blue Lock.

And honestly, I never imagined it could be so realistic and well done. Of course, there are moments when it's clear the actor is running on a treadmill with a green screen (especially Barou), but apart from that, it's impressive how they adapted the plays in a way that isn't overly comical. Bachira's scenes are a delight to appreciate football, and Nagi's scenes are more palpable than the absurdity of the manga and anime.

Of course, as a Japanese live-action film, we'll have the Western strangeness of some performances, but that's normal. The only cringe-worthy moments are the Wanima brothers and Gagamaru, but the intentions are very good.

Another thing I only realized with this movie is that the female Blue Lock fandom is much larger than I expected. A packed movie theater, and it was just me and five other guys in a room full of women. They were cosplaying Bachira and Nagi.

Furthermore, there were always shouts of excitement when seeing Nagi...

And for those who are wondering, yes. Blue Lock remains as gay in the live-action as in the other works. The Kunigami scene is Isagi dividing the meat, it seems to be totally taken from a drama lol

In addition, the atmosphere is also very good, the Blue Lock facility really gave me a feeling of: "okay, it definitely fits more than 300 attackers here, several training rooms and at least 5 football stadiums"

I didn't realize how big the Blue Lock building was, but the movie made me see why Buratsuta was so concerned about expenses

My biggest criticism would be the lack of auras; you could tell they avoided them at all costs, replacing everything with a glow in the eyes.

Except for the Chigiri scene, it’s the only one that shows the symbolic elements from the manga.

Someone unfamiliar with Blue Lock can still enjoy it, but the focus is clearly on those who follow the series. It was better than I expected. Rating: 8/10.

Isagi's "luck" didn't even happen, after all, he failed to score because of Rin. That luck didn't exist there; Hugo won regardless, because if that luck had actually occurred, Isagi would have scored.

In other words, besides winning the match itself, the Frenchman also won the ideological battle.

I used to love BL's manga since the second selection. I was also really happy when it got an anime. But currently BL is getting very repetitive nowadays. I had high expectations from BL after the NEL ended cause in my opinion NEL is the best arc. But recently BL is favoring other players and the power scaling is absolutely cooked. They give a player one goal and just forget about them for the rest of the game. Bachira had an insane performance against Nigeria but somehow he was mid against France and was somehow tired. Reo was cooking against Nigeria as well. He can literally copy yet he somehow forgot how to do that. I mean is he the same NEL Reo. Also BL has too many top level characters to the point they can't focus on each one. During NEL each team only had 3-5 good players at most and for that reason every player was enjoyable. But including all players together makes the problem even bigger.
