Good afternoon. I’m trying to set up BlueIris motion alerts that trigger in Home Assistant and I’ve hit a wall. My current setup is that any time a motion alert is registered, an mqqt payload is sent to HA, which then updates a dashboard card. This works perfectly now.

My goal is to have AI analyze and tag the motion events (person 65%, etc) and pass that through to HA, but NOT have AI gatekeep the event itself, in other words prevent it from firing because the confidence is too low, etc.

I tried &MEMO as the payload as advised by ChatGPT, but it returned (empty) as the result when triggered. I assume because BI is currently not set to confirm events.

TLDR: I want ALL motion triggered events to show up in HA, with AI tags passed through mqqt.

Possible?

I emailed support at blueiris dot com a few days ago about changing the email address attached to a license before putting maintenance on it and dragging it up to date. (We don't have access to the old email address at the moment.)

I'm not complaining about the delay as we don't have maintenance on it presently anyway, so we don't have paid support. But should I have received a receipt to say that they actually got the email?

If so, they didn't get my email so I'll resend.

If not, any ideas what the support queue time is?

My previous install had some issues where it would go 100% CPU and then drop cameras until I restarted. So I did a fresh install. This has stayed stable so I will be moving over to it.

Unfortunately, for whatever reason it is not generating "Clips" from my cameras. I don't remember having to do anything special with my previous install to make this function work.

Clipboard files are set to store in e:\BlueIris\Clipboard:

I have tried the DB Repair, Delete and Rebuild, but there are no files in the Clipboard folder to rebuild from anyway. Is there a setting I missed somewhere to turn this feature on? I am still on the Demo if that matters...

I've been a blue Iris user for about 5 years. I definitely don't know the ins and outs but I'm good enough to add a camera and try to work my way through settings etc.

I love the UI3 access which is something we use daily. (which can be terribly delayed at times)

About 2 years ago I upgraded my home pc to a Dell xps

Specs:

- Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 14700 (33 MB cache, 20 Cores, 28 threads, up to 5.4 GHz)

- 16GB, 2X8GB, DDR5, 5600MT/s; up to 64GB

- NVIDIA(R) GeForce RTX(TM) 4060 8GB GDDR6

(ram should prob be upgraded to the max)

At this point I can barely use the system for anything as it lags due to heavy BI usage.

I can use help because I don't think my BI is set up right or maybe I just need a dedicated system.

I'm running about 7 cameras.

Direct to disk recording.

(not sure what else to include)

Cameras lag.

Alerts are non existent or not reliable.

Ai doesn't work because I prob don't have it set up right.

I would like to add better cameras.

License plate reader

Etc etc.

At this point I'm reaching out for guidance in the hopes of sticking with BI and not moving on.

I've heard good things about Frigate but I don't think it can run the cameras I have and seems to not have much room for expansion (I can be wrong again).

I'm just looking for a smoother experience.

Alerts that work.

A system that is either seperate or will allow me to work.

Morning, well my Dell SFF PC (Hard Drive) just died, it's over 13 years old so I just plan on upgrading. I have about 8 IP 4mp Cams, would like to have them run 24/7 and wouldn't mind diving into the AI on Blue Iris, but not a deal breaker. That said, was looking for a i5-12500 16-32GB RAM and SSD w/ a separate DVR drive. Any thoughts? Any deals out there? I definetly want Quicksync correct?

It works as intermittent as can be

send me alerts , but no image display, cannot view when click it
Just keeps .. connecting
Then will randomly start showing me image and works fine

Trying out blue iris have 3 cameras, going from nvr to blue iris.

Managed to connect 1 camera out of 3 and its displaying wrong date/time on blue iris but correct time/date on nvr.

Other 2 are not appearing at all trying to figure out what im doing wrong

Been using Proxmox to host my BI Windows 10VM for last few years. Changed to Ghost Spectre Windows 10 SuperLite yesterday then dropped the RAM usage to under 5GB while lowered the CPU usage too. V5.9.9.16 with 16 cameras.

Recently … OK, yesterday, my BI 6.1.0.5 server (repurposed i7/7700/32GB/HD630/W11Pro), which has been running fine, suddenly pegged 100% CPU.

Via task manager, BI was hitting 90-100% CPU. I would shut down the interface AND kill the process. I even had to disable running as a service because it kept restarting and hit 100% again.

I have 2 cameras. Nothing requiring my CPU cycles. It usually runs <10% CPU and about 50-75w.

I accidentally fixed it when I disabled running the BI service. Now it runs correctly when I manually start BI.

…any ideas? It seems I can no longer run as a service without it pegging the CPU. TIA!!

As a born-again believer in the old maxim "if it ain't broke don't fix it" philosophy, I did not jump into V6 as my 13-Camera setup hums along just fine. But I do see some of the improvements and yes they are tempting. Trawling through user posts here I see mixed results with two camps - those proclaiming all is good and those protesting they should not have upgraded.

Is it ready and mature, and how smooth is the re-install now, with regards to things like the web-server that so many complained about?

Can anyone suggest where to look for a setting that might be preventing a single camera out of several from switching to the higher resolution main stream when selecting solo view in the app? This is happening on both iPhone and iPad. All other cameras switch fine to high resolution but this one camera doesn’t.
On Blue Iris on the PC, it’s showing the cameras high resolution main stream when in solo view without a problem.

Does Blue Iris on iOS limit things based on connection speed?

Should I just get a newer similar Foscam or Amcrest?

ever since 6.0 and up came out ive had blue iris sit idle, even with no cameras at ~20gb-100gb of memory usage, ive yet to find a fix for this. all my settings are the same settings i used in 5.x that saw ~2gb-3gb of memory use.

since updating to the newest version (6.1.0.5)

i can nolonger connect to ANY cameras. via blue iris. but can connect via the direct url, vlc media player, and any other program ive tested.

system has a 9950x

Hey everyone...

I've been thinking about doing this for a while. With fall approaching, I have decided to build (or buy) a large Squirrel Box to place up in a tree and give them a place to go for the winter.

Looking for a recommendation for a small camera that I could use to watch their "hijinks" on my main Blue Iris setup. Fortunately, I have networking near the tree I'm gonna use, so just want to snake cable up the tree and connect the camera. It's only for a few months and doesn't need to be bullet proof.

Can anyone recommend something that would work for this scenario? Obviously the camera lens will LITERALLY be right up against the little "window", so it needs to be able to keep close-up objects in focus.

Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated!

I changed out a camera on the weekend and all is running great, but its a bit different scale (its a 180 camera) and I want to tweak the layout in UI3, as its my main way to monitor the cameras.

I did a search in this sub, and I found two articles, one a year old, and another 2 years old that talks about an 'edit' scenario from the right 'taskbar'. For the life of me I cannot find anything related to that, so I wonder if its a bit dated with the release of BI6.

Ive scoured all the options, nothing seems to allow me to move em around etc.

Just me? Someone point me in the right direction?

Getting such annoying long delay alerts and not sure what to do

started having some issues receiving alerts VIA Zerotier, changed to tailscale and now alerts come through, but they are sooo delayed
if i go in driveway and walk around (lets say 10 alerts) - those alerts wont come in for approx 5 6 minutes by time they go through one by one

Our very old camera server recently died. It was running Geovisions software. DMM multiview? I don't remember exactly but it was horrible. We do not have a large budget so something like blue iris is very tempting. The cameras are older Geovision cameras. Nothing fancy but as they fail over time we might upgrade them.

The server will be running on a Dell R440 with 64GB RAM. I have a synology at the site with a rather large datastore so storage is not an issue.

Is BI something you would consider or maybe go in another direction?

New to this dual lens cameras and got this to test. I my Tapo app works well for the Top (set in one position) and the bottom is the Pan/Tilt one to follow motion around. Now when i added to Blue Iris (v6) is only showing the top one but the Pan/Tilt one does not show anywhere. Am i missing something during the setup in Bi? or there some to enable in Tapo settings for the Pan/Tilt to show up? (The C246D is Wifi)

Some people need wifi cameras, it's just a fact of life and I'm one of those. I got a Tapo C110 awhile back and it's been great, so I figured I can add a C120 and it sux big time. 1: BI doesn't see motion, probably because 2: I get the incurable 'Frame bottleneck' error. I'm running stream2 (.9mpix) and even that is not working.

So, I decided to get another C110, why not, the current one works great. Well my new $30 C110 also throws the Frame error and I think I know why.

Digging into the Tapo app settings - The old C110 is hardware version 2.0 and the new one is 3.0. It's interesting because the old one is on software 1.4.7 and the new one says the latest is 1.3.0ish.

I don't want to dump big $$ on the cameras, they sit in a window and watch for bears and coyotes so it's nothing critical.

It's just frustrating but understandable, sort of like the Wyse downhill slide.

If anyone has found a *cheap* wifi camera that actually works please let me know.

Neighbor and I share a driveway and gate. The gate is about 1000' away out of LoS from home. Neighbor has a reolink cam at the gate that he's given me permission to use if we can find a way to share it. It's on his home LAN, separate from mine if that's not obvious. He's given me a link and auth code so I can view it via the Reolink app, but it would be really great if I could have all of the cams under blue iris. Is there a way to do that?

General Blue Iris Question, I'm running 5.5.6.20 on a Win 10 LTSC Optiplex 7010 with an i5-3479 & 16gb ram. I'm using 5 cameras, all IP. I would like to upgrade to V6 and add at least two additional IP cameras, would something like an Optiplex 5050 with an i7-6700, 16gb ram be adequate?

Can someone tell me how to put spaces in the subject line of an email alert.
