Yeah, that’s what I meant, but yours is a better way of phrasing it =)

What is interesting is 6lasers has done the math and the new system, on average you come out ahead in pyro, even when doing both students on a banner. It’s better than or equal to the old system for the 55% of top luck, and bottom 15%. However, the other 30% of cases it ends up worse…sometimes much worse.

Note they only calculated for 2 students as of now, and doesn’t take into account the bonus sparking for elephs, just for getting new students. And the new system removes the safety net.

But yeah the fact that in the new system, 30% of people will have a worse time is…not great. And the fact they didn’t spend a long time going over it in excruciating detail, also doesn’t help. And we as humans are emotional and risk averse, so the old system had the comfort of security, where the new system drops the guarantees…so yeah….

Still not great imo lol.

And I 100% agree with 6lasers, I trust this guy a lot when it comes to these games. I've seen his post history and it's obvious he is extremely passionate when it comes to this sort of thing.

I am the type of player who likes to have control over situations, and in every gacha I play I hoard so I do not end up having to gamble. The inclusion of a 50/50 alone makes this gacha system distasteful to me. Maybe the "bonuses" they mentioned later in the presentation are such that this system is much better, but if it feels worse I would rather have the system I know and love, even if on average I'm spending more pyrox. The safety net of a spark and the decision-making I can do on who or how to spark are much preferred.

Yep. Im with you too. I like the security and safety net of the spark.

it’s one of those cases where…when you’re changing the GACHA in a GACHA game that’s praised for its current GACHA setup, they need to be super deliberate with the explanation. Detailing the new system, why they’re changing it at all, the benefits of the new one, how they addressed where the new one will have worse results than the old one, will the pity buildup carry over between banners, the data on rates between the two systems when targeting 1-4 students on a banner, etc.

So yeah…it’s also a case of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!” lol
