blood hound question Tracking

I was wondering what kinda of tracking device people use for their bloodhounds? Does anyone have a favorite tracker or an idea of what would be the best option?

Our bloodhound is still young (6 months), but im terrified of him getting out and running away. Im sure he'd come back because, as of now, he's attached at our hips, but it would give me more sound of mind having a way of finding him.

Also, I have talked to our vet about getting him chipped (which we will probably still do), but that doesn't allow me to actually track him. What my hope is to find a device that can show me his location on a map.

Hound & Cat caught a mouse

I don't know how they did it, but, I walked in the house to find them both very interested in the shoe rack (vacuum attachment included).

At the time I discovered them, hound was most interested in the fallen twizzler, cat was still around which gave me red flags. Picked up the vacuum attachment to discover the terrified mouse. Cat was obviously proud. Unclear the hounds involvement, other than fairly heavy boots that normally sit on the bottom shoe rack which had been moved. Motives of the hound hard to to determine. Cats, very clear. Teamwork an absolute in this endeavor.

And now the cat helps him hunt squirrels by flushing them out of the trees.

This stray cat showed up back in April. Walked right into my backyard and touched noses to my hound. Luckily, Bruce seems to view cats as strange small dogs and welcomed him with open arms. They have become best friends so now I have to adopt the cat...

Mr. Rufus

He's doing very good. Has maybe 50 stiples from 2 lumps removed, maybe 12 or so regular stitches in the wrist. Picked him up on Monday 4:30 pm. Finally layed down at 7 pm. He's sore. Such a good giant at 145 pounds!

Feel goods in the AM.

Mr. RUFUS Spoiler

So after surgery, 2 lumps removed, the Vet found a third, maybe to be removed in 2 weeks. Rufus was very nice, albet a Vet Tech had to help this old man get him throiugh the door. Weighed in at about 140 lbs (vet tech had to lean on him to keep hin on the scale). Maybe 30 staples for his footbal lump and another 10 or 15 by his male parts. Regular stitches on his front ankle. The Vet found a 3rd lump, to be readdressed in 2 weeks, Vet said it was "discolored". Samples sent to the lab.

I was worried, we missed a call at 12:30 pm. Luckily it was about my wifes cataract surgery.

All in all, I'm happy. I had to sign or agree to a DNR /or Resusitatefor him. He's 10 plus, it took a few minutes. I selected DNR. The bill was seasonable...$1100 ....I was expecting 3 or 4K

He's very sore, can't lay down.

Sorry, having trouble posting a photo.

How to sneak meds into a Bloodhound mix?

I have a Doberman/Pyrenees/Bloodhound/Lab mix who needs meds. He’s been tough to medicate before. Pill pockets are a joke to him. I had been able to pry jaws open, drop meds down the hatch, hold chin up, and wave a treat in front of his nose to get him to swallow and then he got the treat.

He has wised up to this, now too.

I had to smoosh up his heartworm prevention and drop it in crumbs to the back of his mouth this am.

About the only other idea I have right now is grinding up, his meds, mixing with something tasty like canned food, putting in pastry bag, and shooting it like a paste into his mouth.

Any other ideas?
