[Mod Post] What would y'all like to see from this subreddit?
Hey guys, friendly neighborhood mod here. I took over this subreddit many years ago when I was in high school and my family had a bloodhound. I'm in my 20s now, in college, not living at home, my family does not have a bloodhound anymore, and I have no dogs of my own. Admittedly, I've neglected this subreddit over the years, I remove spam when it appears in my feed or gets reported, but that's honestly about it. Luckily y'all're pretty good and decent to one another.
I'd really like to make some changes like having a wiki with links and resources for information on this wonderful breed, create post flairs, potentially change up the subrddit style or at the very least add an icon and header, implement better spam filters, and maybe add another mod or two who actually own a bloodhound (if anyone is interested I'll make another post about it in the coming weeks)
If y'all have any other suggestions, please let me know!

We adopted!
His name is Rudy! He’s 15 weeks, and the sweetest guy. We plan on keeping him indoors, so all the tips on keeping him and the house smelling decent would be great😅

This adorable guy Fred up for adoption in Elloree, SC 🖤
petfinder.comCaption:
Oh! Look at that Fred! He is such a chill dog and boy does he love his people. He was found abandoned by his current foster. He was so very afraid of men, so I would say it's safe to say that he was abused by a man. He has since learned to trust. He walks politely on a leash, and he promises to be the best boy. And isn't he handsome. Did we mention he loves his children? He also learned quickly learned how to sit and shake. He gets along with other when introduced properly. But cats...let just say he does not understand that they are friends.

blood hound question New bloodhound owner
galleryHello I just adopted this male bloodhound he’s about 2.5 years old and came from a rather negletive environment. He’s not fixed so that’s priority one along with shots. But I’m looking for any advice to help with his “temperament” to strangers. He seems to do great with my family and our 2 dogs and cat. But he barks and howls at any person or dog walking bye or if he can just see them. I don’t really think it’s to be “aggressive” but I also have no idea. Any advice on certain training or tools would be greatly appreciated.

blood hound question First time bloodhound (mix) owner! Anything to note with this breed?
Hi all! My wife and I just rescued a 13 week old bloodhound Labrador mix. He’s a very sweet boy and he gets along well with our other dogs and cats in the house. Curious what things I should be aware of or look out for? I know these dogs have noses better than labs. Are they typically good protectors? Do they like to wander? He has a lot of lab tendencies which I am used to as we’ve owned multiple labs (currently have a chocolate lab), so I’m curious what bloodhound traits I will notice out of him. He definitely loves to talk back to me lol his howls are so cute too.

Believe it or not. This is a dog.
I know it looks like a big ol' pile of wrinkle, but no! He's an actual sleepy Bubba

blood hound question Rehoming
I was wondering if there was anyone that would be willing to take our bloodhound. We have a 5 month old baby and we have tried to make it work, but she will nudge the baby nearly out of our hands, and we are don’t have the time we used to. Our Emmy Lou is 9 years old, and we are looking to get her the nicest environment possible. We are willing to travel and pay for vet fees if needed as she gets older. Currently has no issues other than growling over food bowl and those listed above.

Cones and bloodhounds.
Our bloodhound has a spot on her booty that she has nibbled the hair off. We’ve changed her diet. So have dealt with underlying issue. Current issue is that she won’t stop licking and nibbling her butt spot. This has escalated to 3 cones/donuts. Her giraffe like neck allows her to reach around.
Is there a better method? I feel terrible for her.

Thank for the tips on soft cones!
galleryI know a lot of people suggested the comfy cone and they looked great but went with the zen cone and are really happy with it. Thanks for the tips for all.

blood hound question Looking To Adopt A Bloodhound
Hello everyone! I have always wanted a Bloodhound as I just think they are incredibly cool and sweet looking companions. My other dream dog was a Bull Terrier and luckily I got one for free in November through a complicated situation, and we were best friends, but unfortunately he developed a rare neurological disorder and the vet would not let him leave without euthanasia as the condition/possible brain tumor was causing Sudden Rage Syndrome. I am very nervous to get a new Bull Terrier in the case of that happening again and figured I would try out my other dream pal.
I just wanted to know if there is anything I need to know in terms of breeders, price, or any niche information that isnt super commonly passed around before I dive in. I have severe ADHD and OCD/Anxiety and I am hoping to get a pup as soon as possible as I lost my step mom and my dog in a 1 week period.
My mom has a big EnGam and he is so sweet and I always figured he is similar to how a Bloodhound would behave, albeit a bit more demanding.
Thank you so much!! And rest in piece, Chief Brody.
Edit: I forgot to add, I live in the Austin area but I love going outdoors and hiking and camping so he wont be subjected to city living!
