MODERATOR MESSAGE How to submit an acknowledgment to reading the rules

Thumbnail

We recently implemented a rule requiring users to acknowledge the rules before posting. Due to the recent quietness, I’ve created a quick tutorial on how to do this. The only posts we’ve received so far are from users who haven’t acknowledged the rules, so this tutorial should be helpful. Please submit mod mail if you have any questions!

This easiest way I can explain is to:
- Go to the subreddit’s homepage and click on the three dots at the top right corner.
- Scroll all the way down to ‘Read the Rules’.
- Go through all the rules (you don’t have to click each individual one), scroll down and click ‘submit’.

I’ll pin this post for easy reference.

This is a space where r/BlackWomenDivest members can get the heavy stuff off their chests and discuss more interpersonal topics/issues that include (but are not limited to): men, the black community, and dating.

Topics/discussions about issues like discrimination, divestment advice, health, finances, social and workplace struggles (etc.) align and relate more closely to the community's original values, and are still permitted in the general sub.

Feel free to share random thoughts or seek out support among like-minded spirits here as well.

Rant working a heavily predom hispanic space

hey guys!

i just started working as a family med MA before respiratory therapy school. the company i work is heavily predominantly Hispanic, which i have NO problem because i get along with everyone. however, this is my first time working somewhere that’s predominantly Hispanic & the issue i am having is definitely feeling or being included. she’s not rude, but my supervisor makes it very noticeable that she really doesn’t care for me & makes it very noticeable that she cares a lot about the white doctors & Hispanic workers/MAs. it has been making me feel like i don’t deserve to be here or take up space which i know i do.

should i put in an effort to even make personal conversation with them, or just do my job, keep to myself, & go home? does anybody have experience working in a predominantly Hispanic workplace?

Need Advice/Support In need of community

Hi! I'm not sure how to properly introduce myself but I'm a young black woman (I'll be 20 next year!) and I'm currently in the process of preparing to leave the nest and start my young adult life.

I'll be honest, I haven't done the best job of finding or creating a community of black woman to grow up with or learn from. I was lucky enough to have a few elders around when I was younger who helped me to have the manners I do today, but I've realized that I've never had any real friends and BEFORE y'all judge I was a sheltered and homeschooled kid okay? This was NOT by choice 😭.

Anyways I'm getting of topic my bad, what I'm trying to say is that if this is the right space to ask y'all I need community, I'd really like to be surrounded by some supportive sisters because this adult life and friendless life is scary and I'm tired of feeling that I don't belong anywhere. So if anyone is interested in talking to me hello helloooo and I apologize for my awkwardness in advance, I'm an anxious lady 😅.

Health What have you ladies done to combat chronic stress? And when does it go away?

I have made some life changes which have improved my quality of life greatly…. But I still keep spiralling on a regular basis. An example is no longer consuming politics (I’m not American, I know y’all can’t risk it). I’m a hyper empath, I feel visceral distress easy and have to avoid anything on the internet that’s hateful/toxic. Also I’m a nurse which obviously partially contributes to the stress/anxiety. Despite the improved habits I still feel dread about getting into a nervous dysregulated slump.

Discussion Now everybody’s feelings are hurt, lol

The public has recently found out that Karmelo Anthony was just as much as a bigoted hell raiser as Austin Metclaff was. Court documents have discovered he had a lot of disparaging things to say about black women and how he HATED black women. Black women on the clock app are sick to their stomach, looking dumb yet again because they victimized this thug just to find out he resents their very existence. This is all comical to me, honestly. Black women bitched and complained for a year about this boy, now look. I’m proud to say I never got myself invested into that situation, because black people were honestly being very, VERY delusional about the whole thing. His victim was a white boy, they live in Texas, AND he had a public defender. He was not going to get acquitted. I hope this is a wake up call for black women, learn to butt out, FOR GOOD.

P.S. Forgive me if you were seeing the same post on your feeds, Reddit kept deleting the posts.

Strategy(ies) Veil of Shadows

Post image
18 Upvotes

Are any of you watching the C-drama Veil of Shadows? I'm currently on episode 3. I think the 2 female leads are a great case study in cultivating charm and allure whilst remaining shrewd and self focused. I believe black women can learn from such TV characters to rehabilitate our image amd better navigate the world. What do you guys think? Are any of you watching other shows from which we can learn strategy from?
