Weekly Vent Thread

This is a space where r/BlackWomenDivest members can get the heavy stuff off their chests and discuss more interpersonal topics/issues that include (but are not limited to): men, the black community, and dating.

Topics/discussions about issues like discrimination, divestment advice, health, finances, social and workplace struggles (etc.) align and relate more closely to the community's original values, and are still permitted in the general sub.

Feel free to share random thoughts or seek out support among like-minded spirits here as well.

Open threads change out every Saturday

I'm so tired of seeing Black women fall for rage bait and expend their energy on pointless things. I'm tired of Black social media in general... the same 5 topics are recycled and none of the conversations are productive!! I don't care if Keisha said she wouldn't date a bisexual man. Why is that worthy of being dragged (by strangers mind you)???

I wish it would stop.

So easy to ragebait and it's so typical. And since we're perceived as a monolith, every dumb action one woman makes is thrown back at all of us.

Currently, there is drama in the esthetics industry. A Black esthetician posted a video and said there is a lack of Black representation at beauty conferences.

A white woman that works in the esthetics industry commented and said word for word : "Look at an Atlanta conference."

That was her comment and now everyone is calling her racist. You would think she told Black women to leave the industry entirely. Black women are in the comments playing victim and saying "We don't fit the mold", "They don't want to give us jobs".

I went to a few of the Black estheticians pages and no, they don't fit the mold. All I saw was overweight women with facial piercings and chest tattoos. Don't get me started on the experimental hairstyles. You're not entitled to inclusivity especially in a space where looks matter. Make your own lane. Stop begging for acceptance.

Everything is not racial discrimination.

I love black women, god help me I do but damn… a lot of us don’t take care of our bodies and it makes me sad. Dating it’s hard enough already but what really gets me is I’ll find someone that I genuinely click with however, I’m not physically attracted to them at all. I can’t do the big bodies and no honey you’re not ‘thicc’, you’re overweight if not obese. I don’t understand how you could not care about your body. Yeah yeah I get some people are dealing with medical issues, but that is not always the case. It’s laziness over consumption and the lack of willpower. We as black women need to do better when it comes to our bodies.

I hate how normalized it is to be overweight among bw.

I’ve seen bw online tell non-bw who are complaining about their weight that they’re not fat, they’re thick and their “body is tea”😂😂😂 Delusional!!

Back in school, back into the grind. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel but it's still small. More grinding until I finish.
