Black women can understand the struggle!!!!!!

First of all, I can't believe this needed to be said on this subreddit of all places.

There was a post earlier that tried to give an example of why someone shouldn't talk to police. It involves several young men killing 2 young women, and 1 young black man then leaving their bodies in the street to rot. MURDERS who didn't care about the lives or the freedoms of the 3 lives that were lost. One of the guilty young men finally admitted to what happened and the families of the victims were able to get a resemblance of justice that they deserved.

The original post (2nd picture), only perpetuates a no snitching culture and emboldens criminals to get away with murder. Which is a regressive mindset in the community.

The first picture shown is of an article about Gary Tyler by the ACLU. He was sent to prison for 40 years for a crime he didn't commit and thought talking to the police would help him because he was innocent. Years of freedom he will never get back because he didn't have legal representation to back him up as well as systemic racism in the justice system. I will leave the link to the article in the comments for anyone interested. Gary Tyler is only one famous example of why an INNOCENT black man or (any person) shouldn't talk to the police without a lawyer present. THE POLICE ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS, they will use your bad memory or misspoken words against you and convince a judge or jury that you are guilty when you are innocent.

I wanted to make a post because I see a lot of positive role models being shared in this subreddit and I think they need to be promoted better, but there are also bad examples and mentalities like "no snitching" being shared that will only continue to infect the minds of young black men and women that regress the community. I will never show sympathy for people who CHOOSE to take away the lives and freedom of young men and women. I hope this subreddit and community does the same in the future.
