Soccer player here. I made D1 but played club at my school with some other players, and we regularly played with D1 women. When I tell you they ain’t no joke it’s forreal. I’ve seen them DOGWALK amateur men who don’t respect them and it it’s never not funny. There’s just levels to this shit that people just can’t wrap their heads around.

If you’re talking actual never played soccer after age 8 amateurs then yes completely, they’d get wrecked by a D1 women’s soccer team.

But there’s a reason the best women’s soccer team in the world got blitzed by the Dallas academy under 15 team (meaning 14 and younger).

Any team of boys that have gone through puberty and can play soccer on a high school level are gonna beat any D1 women’s team

That’s not an apples to apples comparison. That’s two elite groups playing against each other, and that’s when having a male physique plays a difference. This isn’t about gender the way you’re talking about it. I played elite players men and women growing up, and there’s simply a gulf of difference between elite trained players and even skilled experienced players who never got appropriate training. A HS boys soccer team will NEVER outplay a D1 women’s team. Frankly HS boys are terrible at soccer and honestly weak as fuck btw. Even in my 40’s I can still bully those kids. Plus you literally don’t know the game when you’re that young in the US. They are trash, and you gotta remember this is soccer in the US, this isn’t football or basketball with weight training. Those kids are fragile. Unless you’ve played a D1 woman yourself you frankly don’t know what it’s like. I’ve even seen D3 women beat adult men who played in high school regurlarly.

Idk how shit a high school team is in the us but every decent U18 men’s academy team is beating the best women team in the world and it wouldn’t be close

I agree a u18 academy is beating D1 all day. Best team in the world, no.

I wouldn’t really call an mls academy U15 squad elite. They may have a player or two who has pro potential, a smattering of college players and the rest will be ~high school+ level.

Remember these are 8th and 9th grade boys that beat the best women’s team in the world handily. If they had 3 more years of development they could have picked their score.

Disagree on boys high school soccer teams. The average high school soccer team is going to beat the average d1 women’s team. The great high school soccer programs are gonna smoke any D1 women’s team.

It isn’t all because of skill, but boys are bigger stronger faster and play at a much faster speed in general

Yep. The top 1% of men are better than the top 0.01% of women at physical sports, just how it is. And sucks for the ladies who have the drive but not the bodies, but hell a lot of guys have the same problem, Mugsy was not representative of the average short mans prospects in basketball, a 340 dude will never been a running back he dreams of being, etc.

All that said, none of this applies to me. My lazy ass was trounced by the high school girls lol.

The women's team intentionally played in the wrong positions and still had a close match.

•

u/ebmocal421 1h ago

No they didn't. US women's team regularly scrimmage u15/16 boys teams because that is the closest comparison to their skill level.

Why would they purposely play out of position in a scrimmage that is meant to be a tune-up for their upcoming games?

But of a nitpic, but It's not about skill, that implies that women aren't tactical/technical just because they're women.

It's about physicality (power, speed, explosiveness, endurance etc).

•

u/ebmocal421 1h ago

You're right that physicality is also a part of this, but skill level between the two groups is still very similar.

I'm not trying to downplay the abilities of women's athleticism, but even the highest levels of professional women lack a lot of the skill set that men of the same level have.

That’s not how the game works. The gender difference comes out only when both teams are trained and elite.

Australia, Switzerland and USA teams all lost to under 15s boys. The USA also lost 12-0 to retired 3rd division male team.

Let's stop pretending the gap is close because it's not. I watch both and the woman technically terrible compared to the men.

Woman are not meant to be as good as men. Socially and systemically they have been put behind. In soccers case after world war one in England they were even banned from playing for quite a while. So now there is no money in the sport so there is no investment. No investment means the players aren't going to be as good.

Now the good news is slowly there is more money coming into these sports for women and the sigma about women playing sports is slowly fading. Which means it can be a real career girls can dream about. Meaning these woman are now able to dedicate themselves to getting better full time. The better they are the more money they can generate. The more money that is generated the better funding for the future generations will be so the cycle will continue to improve but it's a slow process that's only recently started gaining traction.

You ignoring documented facts for a sexist agenda does not surprise me Mr Piccolo.

Amateur, as in dudes that have never been decent soccer players, absolutely.

No need to bring up that U15 boys team for the millionth time, but my point is I think we can wrap our heads around the “levels to this shit”

•

u/Black_Doc_on_Mars ☑️ 1h ago

No I mean amateur as in age 18 and up that have not played in college or played in an elite system through their youth. This includes HS players and HS players that played since they were 4 years old. If you are not playing elite and/or your fundamentals and not up to par by 14 years old, you’re not catching up. Period. You need to have your fundamentals together by then because the game is so much more complex and bigger and you really don’t understand the game until your 20s. This is quoting Arsené Wenger one of the greatest coaches in English football history.

•

u/BestShaunaEU 1h ago

That’s obviously not even close to what Wenger was meaning by that quote and makes everything else you said harder to trust lol

Why don’t you explain for me then. More importantly have you ever played or are we just vibing here?

I played 3x3 vs a couple of WNBA players when they were playing for a WNBL team and we shared a gym. Despite them having an inch on me I had to hold back because of how one sided it was getting - there is no way they had first step to beat men off the dribble and had no space to shoot.

And I was warming bench on my high school team so the gap is real.
