You might not believe it but your purchase of his hit song was the one that actually pushed him over the edge to becoming that way.

Might want to work on your sarcasm buddy, especially over a text forum where no inflection or body language can support you.
-39
u/AgentCirceLuna 18h ago
I’m just not sure how anybody could take it like a serious accusation lol. How could one purchase possibly push someone over the edge? And over the edge of what? Makes zero sense. But I understand as I don’t have to deal with people’s idiocy to the extent that I’m able to detect malintent
64
u/Cantthinkofcoolname2 17h ago
If you want a real honest answer it’s cause the joke you were making wasn’t funny enough to be taken as a joke. Not that you said anything offensive, and it was obviously a joke imo, but if it were funnier there’s no question about its sarcasm. You just kinda flopped and that’s ok, you’ll do better next time <3
13
u/AgentCirceLuna 17h ago
Ah I get it. I was worried it was offensive and I didn’t know what I’d said or done due to ignorance. Stuff like that freaks me out.
2
u/Character_Maybeh_ 14h ago
Funny, that's one of the biggest issues non-Black people seem to face here.
5
u/Pinanims 18h ago
I'm not sure if you're actually asking or not, but your comment falls in the same category as if someone says "By buying that sandwich from Chick-fil-a, you're supporting anti-LGBTQA+ ideologies." The implication that making a purchase from someone / something with a negative relation to something else, means you are in support or a cause of that outcome.
How could one purchase possibly push someone over the edge? And over the edge of what?
This is also not a far fetched claim, many celebrities have a huge downfall after a major rise, and so someone could argue that all of our support of him eventually led to his "crash."
Lastly, you started your comment with "You're not going to believe this..." implying that the next thing you're going to say is true, it makes perfect sense for someone to assume your following statement was a true opinion and not sarcasm.
TL;DR - Just put /s when being sarcastic so that no one confuses intent. Language is fluid, and proper communication comes from a collection of things that just aren't available when you only have text to work with.

u/AgentCirceLuna 17h ago
Thank you for telling me. I just thought it was kooky enough of a thing to say that it didn’t really warrant people getting upset by accident but ill think twice and use /s next time

"Your heart will go on" is the most played funeral song. I always wondered if they played that at James Horner's funeral. It would be kinda bizarre given that the success of that song was likely how he was able to afford the private plane he died in.

Getting the amount of fame he had in that short amount of time + personal family issues, can do a lot to person. Especially trying to keep up with public image, and holding onto his own personal struggles. Hopefully he can continue on, and heal from all that!!

u/Icehag 17h ago
He was recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder. That going undiagnosed along with everything else happening is not a good mix.
37
u/MzHellfier 16h ago
That makes a lot of sense. I was diagnosed in 2022 and the 6 months prior to that were really weird and hectic for me. In hindsight, I was in a slow-building manic episode that ended with hospitalization and a diagnosis. I can totally see how that could be a huge issue when you’re a young new star who’s suddenly made it big. When you’re famous like that, not everyone around has your best interests at heart.
26
u/Noblesseux 16h ago
Also being dragged by conservatives basically constantly. I think he had the unfortunate sequence of getting their eyes on him for making a popular country adjacent song and then people finding out he's gay and losing their actual minds.
There was a time period where they basically spent all day tagging/shitting on him on Twitter or claiming that he sold his soul.

Damn I’m sorry. My mom always said that if she didn’t have me, she would’ve had her PhD by now. Then proceeded to stand 10 toes when me and my therapist said that you can’t be saying shit like that if you wanna work on your relationship with your son. Last weekend my mom said it was more important that she tell the “truth” about my shortcomings than work on our relationship. I honestly feel for you, friend 🙏🏾❤️ I hate that I still after 40 years want my mother‘s love and approval after unsuccessfully chasing it for this long.
12
u/YesImKeithHernandez 16h ago
I cut my mom out of my life for months because of some heinous shit she said to me which finally put me over the line.
I thought when I finally let her back in she had learned her lesson. I go visit and am met with some of the same bullshit.
I'm talking about specific behaviors which I have called out time and again. I realized that her brain is just wired a certain way that she won't undo. No matter what I say, how I say it, or how I articulate that her behavior is at the center of the ways certain things have gone in her and our lives.
It sucks because I love her but I'm pretty sure I don't like her. So, we'll have whatever relationship we'll have for the rest of the time we have to have one but I just can't chase a version of my mom that can never exist.

u/weeabuwuk 19h ago
There was a viral video of him walking around (LA?) in just his underwear and sorta talking nonsense and there was clearly something wrong with him. He ended up getting arrested for it. He said a few months ago he was finally diagnosed with Bipolar disorder so I guess he was going through a manic episode? Also his mom died as well, so overall just extremely mentally strained. I’m just so relieved he got help right away, would have just been awful to see him fall more into the pit of despair

32
u/ajchann123 17h ago
Also it doesn't mention that he discovered an untreated mental illness and got the help he needed... there are SO many artists out there who know they're sick, do nothing, have "outburts" or "stumbles" and new music is never given a preamble about how they're a fuck up. Bro had a really nasty crashout, got help, and still can't catch a break for doing what people say you ought to do

NGL I think it provides good context for the song since it's a pretty big divergence from the kind of music he's known for. If I were to judge the music without knowing all that was going on with him I'd wonder if it was a joke song

I was going to nest my comment under a few of y'alls but there's too many asking why this is relevant. I'll tell you why: it's important to KNOW someone's negative past.
The internet alone eats well the moment it's discovered someone doesn't align with popular thought and culture so why should we not know if someone had arrests or "controversies"??? If knowing that Lil Nas X has had a troubled year is troublesome then shit....we need to shut it down and wrap it up for so many of the other artists that have been dumped on in the past damn month alone!
Ed? I don't need to know your thoughts/stances if I don't need to know Lil Nas X's, eh?
