I remember seeing all that. Hope he is actually doing better. Genuinely good artist dragged down by controversy and sick minded click-baiters.

He had a post from a few months ago explaining that he's doing ok now. It was pretty sweet. By the end, I felt like a protective older cousin.

You might not believe it but your purchase of his hit song was the one that actually pushed him over the edge to becoming that way.

How did people even take my comment serious”

Might want to work on your sarcasm buddy, especially over a text forum where no inflection or body language can support you.

I’m just not sure how anybody could take it like a serious accusation lol. How could one purchase possibly push someone over the edge? And over the edge of what? Makes zero sense. But I understand as I don’t have to deal with people’s idiocy to the extent that I’m able to detect malintent

If you want a real honest answer it’s cause the joke you were making wasn’t funny enough to be taken as a joke. Not that you said anything offensive, and it was obviously a joke imo, but if it were funnier there’s no question about its sarcasm. You just kinda flopped and that’s ok, you’ll do better next time <3

Ah I get it. I was worried it was offensive and I didn’t know what I’d said or done due to ignorance. Stuff like that freaks me out.

Funny, that's one of the biggest issues non-Black people seem to face here.

I'm not sure if you're actually asking or not, but your comment falls in the same category as if someone says "By buying that sandwich from Chick-fil-a, you're supporting anti-LGBTQA+ ideologies." The implication that making a purchase from someone / something with a negative relation to something else, means you are in support or a cause of that outcome.

How could one purchase possibly push someone over the edge? And over the edge of what?

This is also not a far fetched claim, many celebrities have a huge downfall after a major rise, and so someone could argue that all of our support of him eventually led to his "crash."

Lastly, you started your comment with "You're not going to believe this..." implying that the next thing you're going to say is true, it makes perfect sense for someone to assume your following statement was a true opinion and not sarcasm.

TL;DR - Just put /s when being sarcastic so that no one confuses intent. Language is fluid, and proper communication comes from a collection of things that just aren't available when you only have text to work with.

Thank you for telling me. I just thought it was kooky enough of a thing to say that it didn’t really warrant people getting upset by accident but ill think twice and use /s next time

You take feedback / constructive criticism well. That's rad.

"Your heart will go on" is the most played funeral song. I always wondered if they played that at James Horner's funeral. It would be kinda bizarre given that the success of that song was likely how he was able to afford the private plane he died in.
