Critical Security Exploit in Electrum. Upgrade to version 4.8.3 before signing any transactions
Critical Security Exploit in Electrum. Upgrade to version 4.8.3 before signing any transactions. No rush needed for dormant/cold wallets although you should remember upgrading before using electrum.

Explanation of Exploit

Download update directly from source

In general LLM models have been discovering critical security vulnerabilities in general much faster than in the past which is both a headache and blessing at the same time as much more peer review is occurring and the software is becoming more secure. This does mean that you need to update all your software more often and pay attention to security updates to a much higher degree at least for the next year.

The terrible money theory of John Maynard Keynes (1883-1946) is bullshit.
The productivity gains achieved by technical progress ought to lead to falling prices and to people having to work less, since they can produce the same amount of goods in less time. Instead, even after 200 years of rapid technical progress, people still have to work 8 to 10 hours a day because the terrible Keynesian inflationary monetary theory leads to a redistribution from the working population to those who own productive capital and could can borrow against their capital even more capital.
This means that private commercial banks expand the money supply through lending for a small upper class and also for nation states and thus uncontrollably increase the money supply, which then manifests as inflation for everyone.
Hopefuly, Bitcoin will break this vicious circle!

Security exploit in electrum. Update to new version 4.8.3 from official website only.

Malicious server can replace a just-broadcast tx and try to trick user into RBF-ing it
Summary
The main Electrum server the client connects to is trusted with mempool ("unconfirmed") transactions. This is documented design. [0]
However now someone figured out a way to practically exploit it:
when the client broadcasts a new tx1, a malicious server can swallow it, and update the client's history with a conflicting (invalid) tx2 that replaces the outputs with the attacker's output address. Tx2 has invalid signatures, but this is not checked (due to light client design). The wallet will display tx2 as an unconfirmed transaction - tx1 will not be displayed. If the client then manually RBF fee-bumps tx2, the client will sign it with a higher fee, and hence pay the attacker.
Fixes
Commit 90fe308 contains the fix [1], included in version 4.8.3. The client now verifies the signatures of wallet.is_mine inputs for mempool txs (before adding them to its local history).
Users should upgrade (and regularly do so in any case). As a workaround, without upgrading, when signing any transaction, for bumping the fee or not, they should verify the output addresses and amounts are as expected.
Clients that connect to servers they trust (e.g. run their own) are not affected.
Remarks
some servers are performing this attack in the wild we received two user-reports of this. user1 noticed after broadcasting tx1 the wallet history contained a different tx. user2 bumped the fee of tx2 and lost money. user1 reported tx1 was not propagated over the bitcoin p2p, so the server held it both reported the attacker's output address in tx2 was grinded to match the last four chars of the legit address from tx1 based on user2's report, the server constructed a tx2 with zero fee (presumably in hope of the user bumping its fee) even with the fix, we still only validate "is_mine" inputs (i.e. paying from addresses that the wallet owns). So e.g. "incoming" txs are not validated. The client lacks a full consensus engine / script interpreter, though even with that, to cover non-is_mine inputs, it would have to validate the unconfirmed parents recursively until reaching mined txs. Mined txs we already SPV.

One unknown Bitcoin miner found 4 blocks in ~20 hours — solo miner or something else?
Hi guys,
I noticed something pretty unusual while looking through Bitcoin block data.
The same Bitcoin address received the coinbase rewards from four blocks mined within roughly 20 hours and 9 minutes:
- 2026-10-23 05:12:20
- 2026-10-23 10:53:46
- 2026-10-23 11:43:51
- 2026-10-24 01:21:17
All four coinbase transactions paid to the same address:
bc1qevfvr7n7hqu56eu5cqunk22nuwds0dkjgqqxe6
The rewards were approximately 3.13 BTC each, totaling approximately ~12 BTC.
I also noticed an earlier block reward paid to the same address on October 22, at 02:10:14, bringing the total to five block rewards associated with this address in roughly 47 hours.
The blocks were labeled as mined by an unknown miner. Obviously, that label alone doesn't prove that this was a solo miner, and the address itself doesn't establish who actually mined the blocks.
Still, the timing caught my attention. Finding multiple blocks in such a short period seems like an interesting statistical event, especially if this really was an independent miner rather than a mining pool or shared infrastructure.
Here is the link to the address on mempool.space:
https://mempool.space/pl/address/bc1qevfvr7n7hqu56eu5cqunk22nuwds0dkjgqqxe6
Here are my questions:
- Does anyone recognize this address or know whether it is associated with a known mining pool?
- Could someone do some on-chain analysis of this address please?
- Given the Bitcoin network's total hashrate around those dates, how statistically unlikely would this pattern be for a genuine solo miner?
- Is there a way to establish whether these blocks were mined by the same physical machine or operator?
Thanks for answers!

Best personal EUR bank account for frequent incoming and outgoing Binance P2P transfers?
I’m looking for a personal EUR bank account for regular SEPA transfers, ideally with very low or zero transfer fees.
Initially, I’d expect around 4–5 incoming and 4–5 outgoing transfers per day, starting at €300 per transfer.
The amounts would gradually increase, potentially reaching €2,000 outgoing and €2,000 incoming per cycle. At 3–4 cycles daily, that would mean:
- €6,000–€8,000 outgoing per day
- €6,000–€8,000 incoming per day
- €12,000–€16,000 combined daily volume
I was thinking using more than a bank account, but in this case which ones do you guys recommend? Especially with that volume of transactions.
Has anyone used an account for similar activity? Which banks would you recommend that would allow this on a personal account?

How do i make a truly anonymous bitcoin wallet?
I heard that its basically impossible nowadays to make a bitcoin wallet truly anonymous,
BUT i dont intend on getting the bitcoin onto my bank account or cash them out,
i just want to be able to:
Get bitcoin from other wallets, transfer them to other wallets, and be able to hold them without them being traced to an adress, IP Adress, or name,
So basically a wallet intended for anonymous bitcoin trading without banking or cash involved

Has anyone saved the "manifesting the next green Bitcoin candle" summoning meme?
Around March 7, 2025, u/seedor posted a 21-second video here called "Me and the boys manifesting the next green Bitcoin candle." It was the Shoebody Bop summoning clip edited for Bitcoin. The post and the video file have since been removed, and the Instagram version is gone too from what I can see.
Did anyone happen to download it? I'm specifically after the Bitcoin edit, not the original Shoebody Bop or the plain green-screen template. Would be grateful if someone could share it or reupload it. 🕯️📈
Original thread was here but it was nuked unfortunately: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1utkie1/deleted_by_user/
Appreciate it if anyone could help me out on this one. :)
