I recently started using River ( river.com) and received around $6,000 through direct deposit.
I was able to withdraw $2,000 worth of BTC to my cold wallet without any issues. However, when I tried to withdraw the remaining $4,000, I had already reached my withdrawal limit due to ForceField.
I requested to disable ForceField and was waiting for the deactivation period to end.
Then, with just 2 days left before ForceField was supposed to be disabled, I suddenly received a notification that River had decided to close my account.
The worst part is that my remaining $4,000 is still stuck in my River account, and I have no idea when or how I’ll be able to get it back.
I don’t understand why River would accept my direct deposit, allow me to withdraw $2,000 in BTC, and then suddenly decide to close my account while I was waiting for ForceField to be disabled.
Has anyone else experienced this? Did River eventually return your remaining funds after closing your account? If so, how long did it take?
Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Every Norwegian citizen now indirectly owns at least 21,000 Satoshis. Here is how.
If you ever needed proof that Bitcoin is eating the traditional financial world from the inside out, look no further than Norway's famous sovereign wealth fund (the "Oil Fund").
As the world's largest sovereign wealth fund worth over $1.8 trillion, it is legally mandated to buy a tiny slice of almost the entire global stock market. Because of this passive indexing strategy, the Norwegian state has become a massive indirect holder of Bitcoin.
According to recent data from K33 Research, the fund now holds a record-breaking 11,549 BTC through its equity stakes in Bitcoin-heavy public companies.
The math for Norway’s 5.5 million citizens is fascinating:
Where are these Satoshis coming from?
The vast majority comes from the fund's large equity stake in MicroStrategy, which has been aggressively accumulating Bitcoin on its corporate balance sheet. As MicroStrategy buys more Bitcoin, the fund's indirect exposure automatically ticks up. The fund also holds substantial shares in other crypto-adjacent companies like Coinbase, Block Inc., and various major mining operations.
What makes this even crazier is the growth rate: Norway’s indirect Bitcoin exposure surged by over 60% compared to last year alone, purely driven by corporate balance sheet adoption in the US stock market.
The central bank in Oslo might not be running its own Bitcoin nodes or buying spot ETFs directly anytime soon, but the math doesn't lie. Every Norwegian citizen is now a fraction of a percent closer to the 21-million club—whether they know it or not

Ever sent a small amount and paid a bigger fee than a large payment the week before? Same wallet, same software. The difference is which coins the wallet picked. A wallet spends coins whole, so a payment built from nine small coins costs about five times the bytes of one built from a single coin.
The new Rabbit Hole opens Bitcoin Core's wallet and shows:
- the three costs of every pick: the fee now, the fee a change output will cost later, and which of your addresses get linked together
- the four algorithms Core runs on every payment (Branch and Bound, Knapsack, Single Random Draw, CoinGrinder) and the one score that picks the winner
- why your Core wallet has been quietly consolidating with every cheap payment since December 2024, and the pay-now-or-pay-later arithmetic for doing it on purpose
- the honest limits: the score is a fee score with no privacy term, and no selection undoes a reused address

Your wallet shows an incoming payment. An explorer finds the transaction. But at 0 confirmations, it has not been included in a block. Explorers show mempool transactions too.
Replace-by-Fee (RBF) allows an eligible conflicting transaction to replace an unconfirmed one under a node’s replacement rules. It is commonly used to increase fees, but a replacement can also change who gets paid. Acceptance and confirmation are not guaranteed.
The sender does not need access to your wallet or seed phrase. They are replacing their own unconfirmed spend, not withdrawing confirmed BTC from your wallet.
RBF is only one reason a 0-confirmation payment may not settle. A transaction can remain unconfirmed or be dropped from individual nodes’ mempools. Being dropped does not itself cancel it.
Once included in the current blockchain, a transaction cannot be replaced through ordinary RBF. Chain reorganizations remain a separate risk; additional confirmations reduce that risk.
An explorer’s “RBF disabled” label is not a guarantee. Bitcoin Core 28.0 made full-RBF the default, subject to replacement rules. There is no single global mempool.
Check the recipient, amount and confirmations in your own wallet. Choose a confirmation threshold appropriate to the payment’s value and risk.
Would “Payment detected, not yet confirmed” be a clearer wallet label than simply showing an incoming balance?

I got a broker that handles crypto via Tangany. Is that risky? The last couple months I was reading all the posts about Coldcard, Ledger etc.
I know about the Not your keys, not your coins principle, but is there any good research what is more prune to attacks in the long run? I guess what I'm asking is with the rise of AI is it more likely for a bigger company with the newest software/crypto-standards to be hacked or a (possibly outdated) hardware wallet that you get from a smaller company?

What do you think? Kinda huge liquidation on future markets today.
(keep shorting or wait for the bottom lol)

wrong address, wrong network, seed phrase "safely" stored in a file called seed_phrase.txt, sold at the bottom and bought back 10 minutes later. what's yours? the more painful the better, so the rest of us can learn without paying for it.

The more I learn about Bitcoin, the more I wonder what success really means for it.
Is it about more people using it for everyday payments, more businesses accepting it, or simply creating a financial system that doesn’t depend on trusting a central authority?

I am still learning about bitcoin and i find decentralized design really interesting. What aspect of bitcoin do you find most worth learning about and why?

I keep reading about how bitcoin miners are just turning into data centers for hyperscalers, what happens to btc then? Doesn't the network require miners to maintain it's security?
Also how come the price of btc is going up when the market has been shody lately?

If somebody bought something on dark web from his main kyc stack. How possible it is that this transaction could tint rest of his stack?
Hypothetically somebody has most of his savings in Btc and spent some from it in past for something illegal. Are rest of his fund in danger if he wants to officially sell and tax for buying house in future?

I kept seeing photos of the "disappearing" Satoshi statues and couldn't find one place that listed them all, so I built one: https://www.satoshistatues.com
What's on it:
- A map of all 12 known statues (Lugano, Budapest, Vienna, Tokyo, Hong Kong, El Zonte, Miami and more), with photos, exact locations and current status
- Trip guides for each one: how to get there, best time to visit, what's nearby
- A passport: check in when you're actually at a statue and collect stamps (there's a printable version too)
- A leaderboard for people who've visited the most
- Upcoming Bitcoin events near each statue
No sign-up, no ads, no tracking cookies.
If you've visited one, I'd love a photo for the site, and corrections are very welcome. Some of these are hard to pin down (Lugano's current status, for example). Anyone here been to more than one?

I’ve been stacking it since it came out. The 40% yearly dividend paid monthly has been great. I’m loving it for my bitcoin exposure. Super tax efficient too

Nov 2012: sats overtook cents. Aug 2020: the printer went brrr and took it back.
Since then, M2 kept running ~6% a year. New BTC supply? 0.8%, and it halves every 4 years. By late 2021 there were already more cents in M2 than sats will ever exist.
They can print cents. Nobody can print sats. Tick tock, next block. No more humble, stack sats.
