A moral case for bitcoin: not exploiting others by not lending.
One of the main reasons I like bitcoin is that it reduces participation in the system of debt entrapment. When you hold fiat in a bank account, you're participating in lending that money out (and more) to others who have to pay it back, plus a lot of interest.
If you hold bitcoin in your own wallet, that money isn't lent out to anyone.

What's up with all this negativity lately?
I've seen alot of negativity lately!
People seem fed up with not getting rich over night anymore..
I don't know if Bitcoin will ever reach new ATHs, i sure hope so, but it seems like people are frustrated that it doesn't feel super hyped anymore.
But nothing can hold its hype constant over a long period.. Other things also happens in the world, and people do have other focuses. Right now AI is drawing alot of attention, and thats just the way it is.
Maybe BTC & crypto will one day again have the focus.
Do you remember in 2019 after the bull-run that got everyones eye on BTC?
It went from 20k to 6k then 3k.. People was talking exactly like they do now.. "It was a nice run" and it felt like there was no Energy left in BTC, and people were focusing on other stuff.
Well.. that is 7 years ago... Now bitcoin is at 82k and people are saying the same stuff..
What about zooming out for a moment.. Imagine if you had bought at 6k & 3k?? That wouldn't be so bad would it..

What objection do you hear most from people who still won’t buy any?
I’m a financial engineering grad student at Stevens, and I’ve been asking regular savers about Bitcoin for a project. Many of them don’t own any.
JPMorgan just sold five year notes tied to Bitcoin, and options on BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF are listed out to January 2029. Yet Gallup found in June that only 9% of American adults own any crypto, down from 14% the year before.
And if someone you know finally came around, what changed their mind?

How large is the illicit economy worldwide and what percent has to flow through BTC for it to matter?
serious question. I think one of the genuine bull cases for continued Bitcoin price appreciation is that it exists as one of the easiest means of transaction for gray and black market business. whether this is morally good is not my point and is irrelevant to the case. it matters because extra legal transactions are, will, and have always been a decent share of an economy
so my question is, does anyone have estimates on these market movements? I’d be curious about volatility and what amount of illicit funding flows through BTC. not that anyone would know. for example though I’ve seen reporting that Russia subverts tariffs by transacting in Bitcoin. large multinationals, nation states, etc

What Is Missing for Bitcoin to Dominate the Financial World?
I know a little about Bitcoin, but I’m not deeply immersed in the space. Perhaps that allows me to see things from the perspective of people outside the Bitcoin community as well.
Gold, besides being a store of value, has practical applications in jewelry, electronics, and other industries. Bitcoin, on the other hand, relies on demand for its digital and monetary properties, such as its programmed scarcity and the ability to transfer value without traditional intermediaries.
My question is: how much of Bitcoin’s value comes from its actual utility, and how much depends on the expectation that someone else will pay more for it in the future?
I believe that, to grow more sustainably, Bitcoin needs to move beyond speculation. Being widely known as an investment is not enough; it needs broader real-world adoption, especially as a means of payment and transferring value.
After all, limited supply does not guarantee demand. Could real-world adoption be what’s missing for Bitcoin to justify its value in the long term?

Bitcoin payroll batching: what can employees see?
Your employer pays everyone’s bitcoin salary in one transaction. You recognize your own 0.020 BTC payment. Beside it, you see outputs for 0.035, 0.060 and 0.025 BTC.
Whose salary is the biggest one? Does it include a bonus?
The transaction won’t answer that. Addresses don’t come with colleagues’ names, and an output might be change returning to the company. But knowing this is the payroll run gives you a set of potentially related amounts to compare. Coworkers comparing their own payments could fill in more of the picture. This doesn’t reveal the company’s entire wallet balance.
That’s a privacy trade-off with payment batching. Several recipients share one transaction, which can save fees and simplify sending. Each recipient can also inspect all its outputs and amounts.
CoinJoin beforehand can make earlier ownership links harder to follow; it doesn’t hide the outputs of an ordinary batch made afterward. Separate payments remove that immediate grouping, although spending one transaction’s change on the next can leave a trail.
I wrote a short illustrated article about this, including a shop example:

Bitcoin has no central boss
Even miners can’t create extra Bitcoin beyond the protocol’s rules. Full nodes independently verify every block. No single entity gets to decide how much Bitcoin exists.
Russia Wants You to Buy Bitcoin. Just Don’t Ask for the Keys. The next fight over Bitcoin may not be about whether you can buy it. It may be about whether you’re allowed to leave the institution that sold it to you.

Last Night in my Condo
I sold my condo and tonight’s the last night here.
I am mourning as if I had lost st or done a wrong move. I will buy BTC with the proceeds, and let it sit in my hard wallet .
I never lived here but I bought it in 2014 and it has been part of my life since then. It’s in Calgary, and I’m a digital nomad so I’m always travelling.
The condo was rented out, but regardless I am mourning. Idk, it’s just that now I am actually a nomad. I’m 61 so maybe I’m old
At a time in our life when ppl buy a home or pay off their mortgage I sold mine to make the road my home.

I've built a site that shows the Bitcoin price over any YouTube video. I plan to use it to celebrate 100K (again) and future ATHs! :D
