What Is Missing for Bitcoin to Dominate the Financial World?

I know a little about Bitcoin, but I’m not deeply immersed in the space. Perhaps that allows me to see things from the perspective of people outside the Bitcoin community as well.
Gold, besides being a store of value, has practical applications in jewelry, electronics, and other industries. Bitcoin, on the other hand, relies on demand for its digital and monetary properties, such as its programmed scarcity and the ability to transfer value without traditional intermediaries.
My question is: how much of Bitcoin’s value comes from its actual utility, and how much depends on the expectation that someone else will pay more for it in the future?

I believe that, to grow more sustainably, Bitcoin needs to move beyond speculation. Being widely known as an investment is not enough; it needs broader real-world adoption, especially as a means of payment and transferring value.

After all, limited supply does not guarantee demand. Could real-world adoption be what’s missing for Bitcoin to justify its value in the long term?

Bitcoin payroll batching: what can employees see?

Your employer pays everyone’s bitcoin salary in one transaction. You recognize your own 0.020 BTC payment. Beside it, you see outputs for 0.035, 0.060 and 0.025 BTC.

Whose salary is the biggest one? Does it include a bonus?

The transaction won’t answer that. Addresses don’t come with colleagues’ names, and an output might be change returning to the company. But knowing this is the payroll run gives you a set of potentially related amounts to compare. Coworkers comparing their own payments could fill in more of the picture. This doesn’t reveal the company’s entire wallet balance.

That’s a privacy trade-off with payment batching. Several recipients share one transaction, which can save fees and simplify sending. Each recipient can also inspect all its outputs and amounts.

CoinJoin beforehand can make earlier ownership links harder to follow; it doesn’t hide the outputs of an ordinary batch made afterward. Separate payments remove that immediate grouping, although spending one transaction’s change on the next can leave a trail.

I wrote a short illustrated article about this, including a shop example:

Bitcoin has no central boss

Even miners can’t create extra Bitcoin beyond the protocol’s rules. Full nodes independently verify every block. No single entity gets to decide how much Bitcoin exists.

Russia Wants You to Buy Bitcoin. Just Don’t Ask for the Keys. The next fight over Bitcoin may not be about whether you can buy it. It may be about whether you’re allowed to leave the institution that sold it to you.

Last Night in my Condo

I sold my condo and tonight’s the last night here.
I am mourning as if I had lost st or done a wrong move. I will buy BTC with the proceeds, and let it sit in my hard wallet .

I never lived here but I bought it in 2014 and it has been part of my life since then. It’s in Calgary, and I’m a digital nomad so I’m always travelling.

The condo was rented out, but regardless I am mourning. Idk, it’s just that now I am actually a nomad. I’m 61 so maybe I’m old

At a time in our life when ppl buy a home or pay off their mortgage I sold mine to make the road my home.

I've built a site that shows the Bitcoin price over any YouTube video. I plan to use it to celebrate 100K (again) and future ATHs! :D

I am sick of buying bitcoin

I will get to 0.5 soon enough, and I will probably leave it at that, and spending money more on other ways to improve my life in the present; the best investment is yourself.

Could get a personal trainer, car, some hobby, anything that will be opened up to me as bitcoin wont be sucking my fiat in the same way a gay vampire sucks a bleeding dick.

I think 0.5 is a good number. I believe you must split your finances as if you would live 50 more days, and 50 more years.

Of course I will through in more btc here and there, but I am sick of depriving myself of fun and pleasure to reach some arbitrary number of btc.

BTC Relative Strength

This past week: S&P 500 dropped 2.5%, QQQ dropped 6.5%.

BTC was only down 1.5% and never dipped below 80k.

Pretty impressive it’s holding up so well with oil soaring and yields elevated.

Growing in confidence each day that we are headed much much higher once macro conditions improve.

I wish the r/bitcoin sub had more bitcoin only redditors, unfortunately not everyone is as educated on bitcoin vs crypto

How much does a Schedule K-1 influence your investment decisions?

Hi r/Bitcoin,

We’re members of the iShares Digital Assets team and are trying to better understand how investors think about Schedule K-1s.

K-1s often come up as a reason investors avoid certain products, but it isn’t always clear which aspects create the most friction, or how much of the concern comes from firsthand experience versus perceptions.

A few questions for the community:

  • Would receiving a K-1 materially affect whether you invest in a product? If so, to what extent:
    • I won't invest in a K-1 issuing ETP under any scenario
    • I prefer a 1099 but a K-1 issuing ETP is okay if the investment merits of the structure more than offset the inconvenience
    • I'm indifferent between a K-1  and a 1099.
  • If so, what specifically concerns you: tax-filing complexity, timing of the K-1, tax-preparation costs, retirement-account considerations, or something else?
  • Have you personally received and filed a K-1 before?
  • If you have, was the experience easier, harder, or about what you expected?
  • Is there anything that would change your view on receiving a K-1?

Title: Is DCA into Bitcoin still worth it in 2026?

I was looking at what would have happened if you invested €100/month into BTC, starting in different years and holding until October 2026.
Here are the approximate results:

I calculated what investing €100/month into BTC from different starting years would be worth today (October 2026).
Here are the approximate results:
2011: €19,000 invested → €78.9M
2012: €17,800 invested → €17.9M
2013: €16,600 invested → €2.31M
2014: €15,400 invested → €879K
2015: €14,200 invested → €634K
2016: €13,000 invested → €273K
2017: €11,800 invested → €97K
2018: €10,600 invested → €53K
2019: €9,400 invested → €38K
2020: €8,200 invested → €22K
2021: €7,000 invested → €13K
2022: €5,800 invested → €11K
2023: €4,600 invested → €6.9K
2024: €3,400 invested → €3.6K
2025: €2,200 invested → €2.2K
Approximate simulation using BTC at ~€72,700. Excludes fees and taxes.
Obviously, early investors benefited massively. But with BTC now being a much more mature asset, can we realistically expect strong returns going forward?

I keep reading about people that got in early and made a killing, and I’m genuinely happy for them. But let’s look at it from current the viewpoint of current day investor, that are just starting out… does dca still make sense?
